Chapter 718: Chapter 695: Sweeping the Profound Abyssal Rift

“You’ve been in Red River for the past two months?”

Xu Wuyi nodded. “Yes.”

“How is your Cultivation coming along?” Feng Zhuohua asked.

Xu Wuyi answered truthfully, “Not bad. I created a few new stances of my Spear Technique and integrated the Order Rules into them. It’s not perfect yet, but I’m much stronger than when I first advanced.”

A hint of surprise flashed through Feng Zhuohua’s eyes. “You created your own Spear Technique stances? That fast?”

Xu Wuyi nodded, briefly explaining the three stances of his Spear Technique and the reasoning behind his little tricks.

After listening, Feng Zhuohua fell silent for a moment before laughing. His smile was tinged with a mix of relief and amazement. He had always known Xu Wuyi’s talent was exceptional, but he never expected it to reach this level.

Xu Wuyi might have thought it took him a long time—several months—to integrate the Rules into his Martial Arts. However, as someone who had walked that path, Feng Zhuohua knew exactly how difficult that step was. Many Grandmasters were stuck at the Dharma Level their entire lives, completely unable to achieve such an integration.

“Good kid,” Feng Zhuohua said. “Reaching this point just over three months after advancing to Grandmaster is no easy feat.” He paused, his tone turning serious. “Since you have the ability, I won’t beat around the bush. I contacted you because I need your help with something.”

Xu Wuyi looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

“Do you remember the Profound Abyssal Rift you visited before?” Feng Zhuohua asked.

Xu Wuyi nodded. “I remember. The place where Grandmaster Ren Bai stands guard.”

Feng Zhuohua nodded. “Yes, there’s been another problem there recently.” He paused, his tone growing heavier. “Two months ago, the Beast King behind the Rift suddenly rioted. Left with no other choice, Grandmaster Ren Bai entered the Rift to confront it. It’s been two months, and he still hasn’t come out.”

Xu Wuyi’s gaze hardened. Inside the Rift? That was the passageway connecting to the depths of the Star Realm. The environment inside was extremely harsh—torn spaces, Energy tides, and chaotic Rules. Even the slightest mishap could trap a person there forever. Grandmaster Ren Bai actually went inside?

Feng Zhuohua continued, “Before he went in, Grandmaster Ren Bai left word that he could hold the Beast King off for at least three months. Now that two months have passed, time is running out. If he hasn’t emerged by the end of the three months, the Beast King might break through the Rift and descend directly into the real world.”

A sense of urgency welled up in Xu Wuyi as he listened. A Beast King Level Star Beast possessed strength comparable to a Human Grandmaster. If it truly managed to break out, all of Dongjiang Province would be in grave danger.

Feng Zhuohua looked at him, his gaze turning even more serious. “You spent over a month at the Profound Abyssal Rift, so you are familiar with the situation there. Furthermore, now that you have advanced to Grandmaster, you are capable of participating in a battle of this caliber. Therefore, the military wants to ask you to go there and help guard the Rift.” He paused before adding, “We’re not asking you to go inside, but to stand guard on the outside. In the event the Beast King breaks out, we need you to hold it off and buy time for everyone else.”

Xu Wuyi did not hesitate. He nodded directly and said, “I’ll go.”

A flash of approval appeared in Feng Zhuohua’s eyes. “Good,” he said. “I knew you’d agree. I’ve already sent the specific details to your personal terminal. Prepare yourself and head out first thing tomorrow morning. Red River isn’t far from the Profound Abyssal Rift.”

Xu Wuyi nodded. “Understood.”

“For this mission, the military will record merits for you,” Feng Zhuohua added. “Even though you don’t lack them now, you’ll get what you deserve. Additionally, if Grandmaster Ren Bai makes it out, he will certainly thank you.”

Xu Wuyi shook his head. “Minister Feng, I’m not doing this for the merits. Grandmaster Ren Bai guided me, so I owe him a debt of gratitude. If he’s in trouble, it’s only right that I help.”

Feng Zhuohua looked at him and remained silent for a few seconds before nodding. “Alright. Go on, and stay safe.”

The communication ended, and the light screen faded to black.

Sitting in his chair, Xu Wuyi looked at the night scenery outside the window, his mind still turning over Feng Zhuohua’s words.

Grandmaster Ren Bai. The Grandmaster who wore long white robes, sitting cross-legged before the Rift day in and day out for three years. The Grandmaster who had awakened him with just a few words, making him understand that Rules were not physical laws, but the cognitive realization of the Heart Image. And now, he was inside the Rift, having spent two months in a standoff with that Beast King.

Xu Wuyi took a deep breath, stood up, and walked to the window. The night outside was heavy, and on the distant horizon, a few stars twinkled.

He recalled the month or more he had spent at the Profound Abyssal Rift. The people there were likely still standing guard, waiting for Grandmaster Ren Bai to return.

He turned around, walked to his desk, and opened his personal terminal, pulling up the files Feng Zhuohua had sent.

The information was very detailed, including the recent movements of the Rift, the message Grandmaster Ren Bai left before going in, the military’s preliminary analysis, and their assessment of the Beast King.

He read through it line by line, committing every detail to memory.

That Beast King was the overlord behind the Profound Abyssal Rift, ruling over the entire Star Beast nest in its depths. Its strength was assessed to be around that of a middle-tier Grandmaster—slightly weaker than Grandmaster Ren Bai, though the gap wasn’t large.

The fact that Grandmaster Ren Bai could hold it off inside the Rift for two months proved that his strength was indeed superior to the Beast King’s. However, the environment inside the Rift was far too harsh. Staying there for an extended period would result in a massive drain on any Grandmaster. Three months was the absolute limit.

If he failed to emerge by the end of the three months, Grandmaster Ren Bai might truly never come out.

Of course, the Federation would not sit idly by and watch such a thing happen. They would inevitably dispatch personnel to mount a rescue, and Xu Wuyi was currently the most suitable candidate.
