Chapter 708: Chapter 693: Grandmaster Level Clash

“Let’s test it today,” Flame Venerable said. “We don’t need to actually fight; we’ll just clash with our Rule Heart Images. You bring out your Order, and I’ll bring out my Flame. Let’s see whose Rules are stronger and whose application is more ingenious.”

Xu Wuyi looked at the wisp of Flame in his palm, fell silent for a few seconds, and then nodded. “Alright.”

He took a few steps back to put some distance between himself and Flame Venerable, then shifted his thoughts. Deep within his sea of consciousness, the pale blue Heart of Order trembled slightly. Immediately after, an invisible force radiated from his body, spreading outward in all directions. Wherever this force reached, the flow of air became chaotic, the transmission of light distorted, and the echoing of sound grew warped. This was the externalization of the Power of Order, the extension of his Heart Image.

Standing opposite him, Flame Venerable felt the changes in the surrounding environment, a flash of surprise passing through his eyes. “Good boy,” he said. “The prototype of your Domain is even more solid than I imagined.”

Xu Wuyi did not speak, solely focused on maintaining the diffusion of his Power of Order. He hadn’t truly deployed his Domain; that thing was still just a prototype and couldn’t withstand much strain. He was merely releasing the strength of the Heart of Order to form an area of chaotic Rules, using it to affect his opponent’s condition. This was the application method he was currently most familiar with.

Flame Venerable looked at him and smiled before shifting his own thoughts. A completely different force surged from him. The power was scorching and violent, carrying an overbearing aura meant to incinerate everything. It spread from Flame Venerable’s body, colliding directly with Xu Wuyi’s Power of Order.

The moment the two forces met, Xu Wuyi clearly sensed a bizarre confrontation. It wasn’t a clash of physical strength, nor a clash of Energy, but a clash of Rules.

His Power of Order sought to plunge everything around it into Chaos, stripping the Rules of their proper Order. Meanwhile, Flame Venerable’s Flame Power sought to incinerate everything, using extreme heat and searing intensity to destroy all that stood in its way. The two types of Rules intertwined, collided, and tangled in midair, neither able to overpower the other.

Xu Wuyi felt that when his Power of Order met Flame Venerable’s Flame Power, it indeed caused the opponent’s Rules to fall into temporary Chaos. However, that Chaos could not last long before it was completely burned away by the scorching heat. In turn, when Flame Venerable’s Flame Power burned his Power of Order, it couldn’t completely destroy the chaotic Rules either. Instead, the incinerated fragments became even more scattered and harder to deal with.

The two men stood in a stalemate, neither making the first move. The surrounding air grew eerie. At times, it was unbearably hot, while at other times, it returned to normal; sometimes it was perfectly orderly, and other times, it plunged into Chaos. The distant bamboo forest, caught in the confrontation of their Rules, alternated between standing perfectly still and swaying madly. The color of the bamboo leaves shifted from a vibrant, dripping green to a dull, lifeless hue.

After a long while, Flame Venerable was the first to withdraw his power. He looked at Xu Wuyi, his gaze holding both admiration and a touch of sentiment.

“Good,” he said. “The level of your Order Rules is indeed high. My Flame can’t do anything about it.”

Xu Wuyi also retracted his Power of Order and bowed slightly. “You praise me too much, Senior.”

Flame Venerable waved his hand. “It’s not overpraise; it’s the truth. I just tried several methods—frontal incineration, flanking, and concentrated breakthrough at a single point—none of which could truly shake your Order. That thing is too scattered, so scattered that I simply couldn’t find a target to attack.

“But precisely because it’s too scattered, you couldn’t pose any substantial threat to me either,” he continued after a pause. “Although my Flame can’t burn away your Order, your Order can’t truly control the places my Flame has scorched. Neither of us can do anything to the other.”

Xu Wuyi nodded. He knew Flame Venerable was speaking the truth. That brief confrontation had given him a clear understanding of his current state. The Power of Order was indeed strong, and its level was certainly high, but it was too dispersed, lacking sufficient offensiveness. It was like a massive net that could cover a large area, yet every thread was too thin—too thin to truly trap an opponent. If used to control Low Tier enemies, the effect would undoubtedly be excellent, but once faced with an opponent of the same tier, this net would prove too fragile.

Flame Venerable looked at his thoughtful expression and smiled. “What, noticed the problem?”

Xu Wuyi nodded. “I’m still lacking a true offensive method.”

“Right, exactly that.” Flame Venerable paused, his tone growing more serious. “But this is just the beginning. You’ve only just advanced, so you aren’t familiar with these things yet. Practice more, experiment more, and you’ll gradually find a method that suits you.”

Xu Wuyi looked at him and asked, “Senior, you used several different methods just now… How did you do that?”

Flame Venerable smiled, a hint of pride in his expression. “That comes down to experience,” he said. “Even with the same Flame Rules, I can make them burn in a sweeping blaze to cover the entire battlefield; I can condense them into a single line to concentrate an attack on one point; I can also split them into countless tiny sparks to besiege from all directions.

“Every method has its applicable scenario. Frontal incineration is suitable for dealing with weaker opponents, concentrated breakthrough at a single point is best for opponents with strong defenses, and flanking is perfect for fast opponents.”

He looked at Xu Wuyi, his gaze filled with anticipation. “Your Order Rules are the same; they have many potential applications. The key is to find the few that suit you best, and then train them to the extreme.”
