Grandma felt that if her granddaughter were to be with him, Alana likely wouldn’t have to endure any hardships in life anymore.

She nodded with a smile. “Not bad, not bad. Lana, your boyfriend is quite honest. Not only is he handsome, but he’s also honest and straightforward, no hidden motives. He’s a good man you can trust.”

Alana blinked.

Honest?

No hidden motives?

That was a million miles away from Stephan, wasn’t it?

Stephan glanced at Alana and continued, “Grandma, I actively pursued Alana, and she’s the woman I truly love. She’s my first love, my one and only, my first girlfriend, and she’ll be my last.”

Grandma listened and grew even happier. “Really? That’s wonderful. Lana, you’ve hit the jackpot!”

Alana couldn’t help but blush.

She thought to herself, This man really knows how to talk.

Stephan turned his gaze back to Alana, his eyes growing tender and affectionate.

“And I hope that I can marry her, make her my wife, and walk hand in hand with her for the rest of our lives.”

Alana met the man’s gaze, which was overflowing with tenderness, and her heart gave an unexpected, violent flutter. It was beating so fast it felt like it was about to leap right out of her chest.

Her grandmother couldn’t help but look at Alana, and she, too, saw the deep affection in Alana’s eyes for the man.

The deep affection the young couple held for one another was so intense it seemed ready to overflow.

Stephan’s gaze fixed intently on Alana’s beautiful face. Though his eyes were on her, his words were directed at her grandmother.

“Grandma, I truly want to marry your granddaughter. Please talk to her and convince her to agree to marry me, so I can have her openly and honestly.”

Alana bit her lip, her cheeks growing even redder.

What was going on?

It felt as though the man were proposing to her right in front of her grandmother.

Her heart was beating faster and faster.

Grandma chuckled to herself. “Well, Grandma can’t make that decision for you. You’ll have to work hard to get Lana to agree to marry you herself. Always listen to Lana, okay? Whatever she wants to do, let her do it. I support her unconditionally and I hope you do too.”

Alana felt even more embarrassed. “Grandma...”

Grandma smiled. Sensing that Alana might be feeling a bit insecure, perhaps thinking she wasn’t good enough for him, or perhaps worrying about something else, she encouraged her, “Lana, if you like him and feel happy being with him, be brave and go after your own happiness. But no matter what you decide, I will support you.”

Stephan took Alana’s soft hand in his and squeezed it gently. “Did you hear that?Grandma told you to be brave.”

Alana’s cheeks flushed crimson.

In truth, after going through so much with him, she had already decided in her heart that she wanted to marry him.

She just hadn’t found the right moment to bring it up.

And now... wasn’t this the perfect opportunity?

“Stephan, actually...”

Before she could finish, Miranda rudely interrupted her and started coughing.

Alana and Stephan frowned.

They had almost forgotten there was an annoying presence right here.

Miranda said bluntly, “Mom, how can you just let Alana decide her own marriage so easily? You’ve only just met her boyfriend, you don’t even know if he’s reliable or not.

How can you just agree to let them be together so easily?”

“If you ask me, Alana should be exposed to more men so she can clearly see what kind of man is actually suitable for marriage and a life together!”

Stephan shot Miranda a blank look, his gaze as cold as a frozen pond, tinged with a hint of murderous intent.

“Oh, so you think I’m not cut out for married life?”

Miranda met Stephan’s terrifying gaze and couldn’t help but tremble.

But then she remembered that her mother-in-law was in the hospital room, Stephan couldn’t threaten her there.

With that thought, her confidence returned.

“You’re too handsome, you’re obviously a womanizer. You’ve never been short on women! Once you’re married, you’ll definitely go out and have fun, cheating and visiting brothels!”

Stephan gave her a smirk. “How do you know that all married men cheat and visit prostitutes? Is your husband one of them, by any chance?”

Miranda glared at him. “You, you, you...your husband is the one who does that!”

Stephan laughed. “Sorry, I don’t have a husband.”

Miranda clenched her teeth. “Regardless, marriage requires the basics of daily life, food, clothing, shelter, and daily necessities, and all of that costs money. Having children costs money too. How much money does your family have? Is it enough to cover your expenses after marriage?”

Stephan’s tone was utterly detached. “My family isn’t short on money. I own a company worth tens of billions. Money begets money; it only grows, and would never shrinks. As long as Alana marries me, my money is hers, and hers is still hers.”

The moment Miranda heard this, her eyes widened in shock.

She couldn’t believe it.

A company worth billions?!

Goodness gracious?!

She couldn’t even begin to imagine it!

She even felt that even if she used all ten fingers on her hands and all ten toes on her

feet, she still couldn’t count how many zeros there were in those tens of billions!

Her fingers trembled uncontrollably. This guy really is a prime catch!

Oh my, how could such a hot catch have been snatched up by that little slut Alana?

Just listen to this: after they get married, his money will be Alana’s money, and Alana’s money will still be her own.

Was that even something a person should say?

Hearing that made her heart ache so much she felt like she was going to die of anger!

If all that money belonged to her, she wouldn’t know how happy and blessed she’d be!

If she can’t have this, then she’ll just slander it!

Miranda said without hesitation, “I don’t believe it! Mom, you can tell this guy’s a total con artist, he’s playing with your granddaughter’s feelings!”

Grandma was completely taken aback.

She hadn’t even recovered from the shock of learning her granddaughter’s boyfriend was a billionaire when Miranda accused him of being a fraud who was deceiving her granddaughter’s feelings.

Upon hearing this, Alana immediately spoke up in Stephan’s defense, “Grandma, don’t believe what Auntie says. I believe in Stephan’s feelings for me are real. He wouldn’t deceive me.”

Miranda retorted sharply, “How can you say he wouldn’t deceive you? He even claimed to own a company worth tens of billions, who would believe that? I could say I’m the richest person in the world, would you believe me?”

Alana frowned and said, “Auntie, there are always people more capable than us, and there’s always something beyond what we can imagine. Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t mean it isn’t true.”

Miranda put her hands on her hips and said brazenly, “I just don’t believe it, unless he can give me a hundred million right now!”

Alana was speechless.

Miranda actually thought she could get a hundred million for free? She was dreaming.

Stephan couldn’t be bothered to deal with someone like Miranda, who was just sour grapes. The only way to deal with someone like that was to prove her wrong with hard facts.

He turned to his grandmother and said earnestly,

“Grandma, it’s my fault. I should have prepared the dowry to marry Alana before asking for her hand in marriage. I’ll go back, prepare a generous dowry, and then formally come to ask for her hand in marriage.”

Grandma smiled warmly and didn’t press the issue with Stephan. “All right, all right. Grandma is very happy that you have this intention. All I hope is that you two can be together for a long, long time.”
