Chapter 94 - You Are My Man
Chapter 94: You Are My Man

“Thank you, dear Percy,” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t decline. Western protocol differed from China’s. Being too courteous would be impolite instead, “Percy, this tree is…”
Yun Xiangxiang introduced yew to Percy in detail. Europe had them too, but their yew wasn’t as valuable. Nor could they bear fruits like these. Yun Xiangxiang was worried that Percy might not know about it since he was a jewelry fanatic.
Sure enough, Percy gasped in astonishment, “Oh, Yun, thank you so much.”
“Percy, my boyfriend’s a doctor. Can you let him have a look at you?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t beat about the bush. Westerners were different from them; they didn’t think that cancer was a wound that couldn’t be talked about. There was never any gloom and doom coming from Percy.
“Is he a mysterious doctor that practices Chinese medicine?” Percy’s blue eyes looked at Song Mian excitedly.
Yun Xiangxiang saw Song Mian nodding his head. She didn’t reveal that Song Mian trained in both Chinese and Western medicine.
“Thank God for letting me come across you, Yun,” Percy was thrilled.
He immediately invited Song Mian and Yun Xiangxiang to the living room. Song Mian really took his pulse; of course there would be physiological differences between Europeans and Asians. However, Song Mian was highly sought after among the upper class of Europe. He must have had a lot of experience and research in his patient cases.
Yun Xiangxiang came up with the idea of having Song Mian check up on Percy because Austin said that he was his last hope. He tried to arrange an appointment with him a few times, but they ended in failure. Percy asked him to give up when he knew about it after that.
Song Mian didn’t just do a check up on Percy. He even perused his records, as well as the medications that he was taking, and his X-ray photos. They were talking too fast; not to mention there were a lot of jargon. Yun Xiangxiang could only hazard a rough guess on what they were talking about by listening to their conversation.
Song Mian suggested that Percy stop taking his current medications. They could only keep his mind clear and reduce a bit of the pain; they could do nothing to help his condition. Percy was pleasantly surprised after he heard that, since that was what he requested from the doctor. He wanted to complete a design one final time before his time was up.
Percy’s condition wasn’t exactly incurable. Even though it might not be completely cured, he still had hope. Song Mian wanted him to go to GGS Hospital to receive treatment.
Yun Xiangxiang was happy for Percy, “Percy, you must go for the treatment. I believe that you can create a miracle. There is more brilliant jewelry that’s waiting for you to design.”
Percy, however, was silent. It was as if he didn’t hear Yun Xiangxiang. He stared at Song Mian in dumb astonishment.
“GGS? You’re a Song!” Words failed Percy yet again when he saw Song Mian’s signature purplish-black eyes…
GGS was an acronym for Global Governance of Song. It was a globally renowned health care organization. The information about the purplish-black eyes of their decision maker was only known to a few. Percy was one of them.
He befriended a big capitalist who had the same hobby of collecting jewelry as he did. The man saw Song Mian before. He mentioned it to Percy when he knew about his condition.
“Yun, you’re a lady of luck. You can bring everyone good fortune,” Percy did not expect that he could meet someone that Austin wanted to for a long time; someone he had already given up on, under these circumstances. He took Song Mian’s words with a grain of salt, but now hope gleamed from his eyes.
“I am but a normal doctor,” Song Mian didn’t want Percy to tell anyone anything about him.
Naturally that did not fly over Percy’s head, “Of course, Dr. Song.”
Percy was in a buoyant mood. He wanted to cook a feast himself to celebrate his meeting with Yun Xiangxiang and Song Mian. He wanted them to stroll around his ranch. He would call them when dinner was ready.
They didn’t decline his offer. Percy’s ranch was huge and had meadows as far as the eye could see. It was still a brilliant green even though it was already fall.
They sauntered along the path, hand in hand. The breeze ruffled the hem of Yun Xiangxiang’s dress and made her hair dance in the wind. Both of them didn’t talk for the whole stretch of path. They held each other’s hand silently, feeling the life of nature. They already felt relaxed and contented that way.
“Ah Mian, is it okay for me to introduce a patient to you like this?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t suppose Percy could recognize Song Mian. Even though he was a famous jewelry designer, it wasn’t exactly possible for him to come into contact with Song Mian himself.
Percy wasn’t in the circle of nobles.
“Don’t think too much about it. I wouldn’t have come if I thought that was inappropriate,” Song Mian stopped in his tracks. His serene eyes gazed into Yun Xiangxiang’s, “I did send someone to meet Austin when he arranged his appointments. However, he wasn’t very trusting about the ones I sent and insisted to meet me in person. That’s why I ignored him.”
Song Mian wasn’t treating anyone differently. He was but a single person. There were countless patients every day in the world. If he needed to go in person for every single one of them, not even sacrificing his sleep and working for 24 hours could cut it.
Austin’s distrust was the root of Song Mian’s rejection. If his subordinates couldn’t make it work, they would report to him.
Doctors couldn’t accept their patient’s and the patient’s family’s distrust the most.
Especially Song Mian who stood at the apex; who was used to arrangements; a king who did not accept rebuttals.
“I’ll try my best to not trouble you after this,” Yun Xiangxiang pressed Song Mian’s lips when she saw him trying to speak. “I’m not being thoughtful nor guilty. I simply don’t want you to get too tired.”
In Percy’s case, she really admired the talented and optimistic old man after getting along with him for the last few days. She also thought that what He Wei and Austin said was too pessimistic. It just so happened that Song Mian had some time today. That was why she requested on impulse.
She didn’t regret it. However, she would tread cautiously from now on.
“Worried about me?” Song Mian wrapped his hands around Yun Xiangxiang’s slim waist. He could clasp it between his fingers. It was obvious how slender her waist was.
Yun Xiangxiang put her hands on Song Mian’s shoulders, and she raised her head slightly. She looked up at him, “You are my man. Who will worry about you if I don’t?”
Song Mian’s eyes became deeper after hearing that. He bent down, tilted his head, and kissed Yun Xiangxiang on the lips.
The kiss came fast and strong this time. It was like a rainstorm. Yun Xiangxiang was the delicate flower that could only sway helplessly in the storm.
She slowly started responding to Song Mian. He was towering. Standing almost twenty centimeters taller than her, she would still have to stand on tiptoes even if Song Mian bent his body down to reach her. It was fortunate that Song Mian was supporting her waist so that she didn’t need to overexert herself.
The evening wind brought with it a surge of coolness. Scattered leaves danced with the passing breeze.
Rosy clouds descended upon the sky just over the horizon. The remaining light of the golden sunset splashed upon the undulating meadow, stretching the shadow of the couple locked in loving embrace.
It was artistically poetic; it was sweetly, deeply passionate.
