Chapter 221 - Song Mian’s Cruelty
Chapter 221: Song Mian’s Cruelty
“You make a convincing case,” He Wei had thought of this possibility too. “Stop filming for a few days. Make sure you get rid of all possible hazards.”
Any normal agent wouldn’t have the right to command him, top management of Huan Yu. But He Wei was different, and he was helping the producer with his job of supervision. Naturally, he cooperated.
“Did you make enemies of anyone? The kind who wants to kill you.” He Wei asked concernedly when he sent Yun Xiangxiang back to the hotel.
“If I have that kind of enemy, there might be only one. Qin Yue,” Yun Xiangxiang answered honestly. “But I don’t think Qin Yue has the capability to do anything to our props.”
“She doesn’t. But Chen Junjie does,” He Wei sneered.
“Chen Junjie doesn’t have the guts to do that.” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t offend Chen Junjie last time out of impulse. She dared to do it thanks to someone.“He doesn’t have the guts to? He knows the thing between you and the Song Family?” He Wei could only think of one person for that – Song Mian.
“He Shen didn’t tell you? When he went to Hong Kong to look for me, Chen Junjie asked Old Man Min to be the mediator,” Yun Xiangxiang thought He Wei knew.
“He mentioned it before,” He Wei didn’t think more about it. “Something between you and Old Man Min?”
“I shared a meal with Chen Junjie in the Min household once. Old Man Min treated me as an honored guest in front of him. He was warning him that attacking me would be a slap in his face. Unless the Chen family no longer feared the Min family, or else he should never do it.”
Yun Xiangxiang might despise Chen Junjie and Qin Yue, but she would never make any uncorroborated accusations.
Yun Xiangxiang continued after a pause, “But I did offend another one who could do that…”
“Are you talking about Doris?” He Wei was there during the charity banquet too. He saw everything clearly.
He Wei didn’t intervene in the grudge between Yun Xiangxiang and Doris on purpose. He wanted her to solve it herself. When Lucifer showed up, Song Mian had arrived before he could do anything.
“I’ll make a two-pronged investigation. Rest up a couple of days and heal that wound,” He Wei immediately went about his business after reminding her.
Yun Xiangxiang sent a voice message to Song Mian after He Wei had left. “Ah Mian, I came across something horrible today and got hurt…”
Yun Xiangxiang repeated the whole incident to him, finally saying, “I am not complaining to you, nor do I want you to get back at them for me. I just don’t want you to know from someone else that I am hurt. Tell me if you’re hurt too.”
To Yun Xiangxiang, anyone in a relationship should not hide anything from their partner, even if they think they did it for the good of their partner.
Before they decide to hide the truth, they should think about whether their partner would be hurt more when the lie was exposed.
If the answer would be ‘yes,’ then hiding it would just be a selfish act of keeping their conscience feeling good.
The true hearts of love must be able to go through both good and bad.
Nobody would be safe from danger forever. All should face it like usual. Delaying the truth could be a choice at times, but it should never be an excuse to hide it forever.
She didn’t want to know about Song Mian’s news from someone else, whether it be good or bad.
After sending the voice message, Yun Xiangxiang lay in bed and thought about the chilling thrill today. It was fortunate that Ai Li was alert and quick enough. She would either be dead or incapacitated today. Who hates my guts so much?
Yun Xiangxiang was just a mortal after all. Inevitably, her first reaction was to suspect Qin Yue. Qin Yue did warn her after all.
But Qin Yue didn’t have the capability to do this. Chen Junjie didn’t have the guts to.
Also, Yun Xiangxiang guessed that the thing about the prop bomb was done by Huan Yu’s competitors. She and the whole crew were just collateral damage.
She was also attacked in her past life, but not at this level. Perhaps because her status was low then. The worst the attacks and slanders did was damage her reputation.
But it was a life-threatening case this time. The competitor would take three lives away just to go against Huan Yu.
Yun Xiangxiang shuddered whenever she thought of such cruelty.
As she immersed herself in her thoughts, Yun Xiangxiang drifted to sleep. She was awoken by her phone’s ringtone. Song Mian was video calling her.
Yun Xiangxiang saw Song Mian who was inside a temporary tent when she accepted the call. She smiled at him, “I’m fine.”
He called her in such a hurry to see if she really just suffered superficial wounds.
“I have sent someone there to look for you. She would take care of you and Ai Li for the time,” Song Mian frowned.
“Ah Mian…”
“The perpetrator is still at large. You need Ai Li to protect you, and Song Mian is taking care of Little Lin at home now. You cannot go without someone beside you,” Song Mian stopped Yun Xiangxiang from protesting.
“I’ll borrow her for the time being then,” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t plan to add anyone to the roster. She disliked people surrounding her to keep her safe.
Ai Li saved her life. Yun Xiangxiang would never fire her unless Ai Li wanted to leave.
“En,” Song Mian, who knew how Yun Xiangxiang behaved, nodded. “I’ll still have someone investigate this. I will not let anything that threatens you live in this world.”
Yun Xiangxiang never saw Song Mian radiating cruelty before. To her, Song Mian was an elegant nobleman.
He was profound, knowledgeable, and always calm. Nothing seemed to faze him.
“Ah Mian, I won’t stop you from investigating. But I hope you’ll leave this to the law after you’re done.” Yun Xiangxiang thought about something before continuing, “I detest fighting violence with violence.”
“Okay,” Song Mian agreed readily. “Go get some rest. Call me if anything happens.”
“En. Talk to you later,” Yun Xiangxiang waved at Song Mian.
It was nearly night where she was, but it was just noon where Song Mian was. There was a difference of five or six hours between them. When she saw how crude the inside of the tent was, Yun Xiangxiang felt she was living in luxury.
The one Song Mian sent arrived quickly. It was still a woman. Yun Xiangxiang thought she also shared Song Qian’s surname
“Call me Yu You.”
“You’re not a Song?” Yun Xiangxiang was surprised.
Yu You replied unexpectedly, “My husband is one.”
Yun Xiangxiang was speechless.
“I brought some salve for you,” Yu You took out the thing Song Mian asked her to bring. She opened it, pulled Yun Xiangxiang’s hand over, took off her bandage, and washed the wound before applying the salve. “This will help heal superficial wounds.”
“Is all the medicine in the Song family made of magic?” Yun Xiangxiang asked.
