Chapter 206 - Payback Comes for Everyone
Chapter 206: Payback Comes for Everyone
Yun Xiangxiang had a large bedroom. A small living quarters lay after the door. A clothroom stood between that and the master bedroom.
Yun Xiangxiang stopped struggling. She just woke him up. Song Mian might be sober, but he still drunk a lot. She was worried that he was uncomfortable.
“Your father is an honest, knowledgeable, respectable gentleman,” Song Mian spoke from behind Yun Xiangxiang.
Yun Xiangxiang was elated when her mother praised her boyfriend. She was over the moon when the latter praised her father. “What about my mother?”
“A woman with great wisdom who hides it well,” Song Mian had great acclaims for Su Xiuling.
He didn’t say much with Su Xiuling, but how someone spoke revealed where they stood.
“You’re the first to say that about my mom,” Yun Xiangxiang was amused. “Why? Is the great Song Mian scared of my mother?”
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?” Song Mian admitted graciously. “Your mother’s deciding my life’s happiness after all.”
“Isn’t your happiness decided by me?” Yun Xiangxiang turned around to gaze at him.
Song Mian kissed Yun Xiangxiang’s hand that he was holding, “If I am a decent guy and your mom wants you to go out with me, you would give it a go even if you don’t like me. But if your mother objects, you’ll start to doubt. No matter how much you like me.”
Song Mian was right. Yun Xiangxiang pinched his nose, “You sound like you’re wronged.”
“Not at all. They raised you after all. Without them, I wouldn’t be meeting you now,” Song Mian gave her a gentle look. “I’m just talking about your mother’s importance, that’s all.”
“So you know who you should please now,” Yun Xiangxiang pecked his cheek. “I’ll be sitting for my exam now. Sleep tight. This is my room. It’s filled with my fragrance.”
“I’ll be having some great dreams then,” Song Mian closed his eyes for the occasion. He added, “I’ll be waiting for my dreams to come true.”
Yun Xiangxiang had gotten out of the bed. She turned around to roll her eyes before quietly leaving the room. She told Su Xiuling where she was going before asking Song Qian to send her to the exam venue.
Yang Xin accompanied Yun Xiangxiang throughout the exam. She was more nervous than Yun Xiangxiang was.
Everything went by in a flash after the exam. She made the oath after passing the exam and had her license after a short wait. Yun Xiangxiang posted a Weibo status following that.
[Actress Yun Xiangxiang V: I have a license now {Driving license JPG}]
She censored some info, save for her license’s photo. Her license’s photo wasn’t savory in her past life.
But her photo looked clean in this life. She adored it so much, she showed it off.
[My Xiang’s license picture is so pretty!]
[I have a sudden urge of looking at the ID picture]
[I am ashamed for complaining about my license pic for so many years. It’s not the ID that’s ugly. I am {?}]
[Sister Xiang, when will your new film air? Save your children who has run out of film to watch]
[Save your children +1]
Her fans would go into overdrive every time Yun Xiangxiang posted a Weibo status. When she saw her fans asking about her new work and her past year’s work, Yun Xiangxiang was reminded of He Xingzhou’s case.
She was concerned about the progress. When she came home, she asked Song Mian, “Ah Mian, the thing about Xingzhou…”
“Don’t worry. It’s ending soon,” Song Mian replied. “Criminal detention can only be extended to thirty-seven days at most.”
Almost a month passed since He Xingzhou was detained. Many on the internet were still paying attention to the case. After Xingyu Media muddied the waters, most of them calmed down and chose to be neutral. The internet violence against He Xingzhou subsided too.
Song Mian was reluctant to elaborate. Yun Xiangxiang knew there were some things he couldn’t say. Either that, or Song Mian wasn’t in a position to gain intel so easily himself.
But Song Mian wasn’t someone who made empty promises. If he said it was ending soon, Yun Xiangxiang believed it was so.
“I’ll ask my parents to take part in the film festival my school holds tomorrow. You coming?” Yun Xiangxiang raised her head.
Qingdao’s gigantic stadium could house a lot of people. Yun Xiangxiang asked the school if they had any extra space. She wanted to save some for her family. It was still on her turf no matter if she was awarded or not. This was a meaningful film festival.
Yun Xiangxiang knew Yun Zhibin used to dream of getting into Qingdao U. She wanted to take this chance to take them on a tour around her campus.
“I am more than happy to go if you are announcing me as your boyfriend,” Song Mian gave a look of anticipation.
Yun Xiangxiang recalled that her parents appeared in the papers when she was filming in Hong Kong. The public knew about them. If Song Mian walked with Yun Zhibin and his family, that would attract attention. People would start asking questions.
Yun Xiangxiang wouldn’t be able to dodge it with any old excuse. And it was inexcusable for her to have a boyfriend at her age…
“Your fault for looking so attractive. I am afraid you’ll have to stay at home,” Yun Xiangxiang touched Song Mian’s dashing face.
If he just looked plainer and attracted no attention, everyone would just assume he was her cousin even if he followed her.
“I’m thankful for my looks. I wouldn’t have the courage to woo you otherwise,” Song Mian was smooth as usual.
“Don’t try to trick me. My parents are here. You won’t get your hands on me no matter how smooth you are,” Yun Xiangxiang gave him a teasing look, knowing he wouldn’t do anything.
“My girlfriend, have you heard about something the society says a lot?” Song Mian looked deeply into her smug little face.
“En?” Society says a lot of things. She couldn’t guess which one was Song Mian referring to.
Song Mian slowly closed in on her. He nearly had her ear in his mouth when he whispered, “Payback comes for everyone.”
He made a clear mental note about this. He would take it back from her one by one.
Yun Xiangxiang turned scarlet and pushed him away, “Only petty men hold grudges.”
“All men are petty at some point,” Song Mian didn’t feel embarrassed.
“You little…!” Yun Xiangxiang was annoyed,
Song Mian immediately changed his attitude. “I kept all my things locked in my room in the house upstairs. You can have your parents move there and push everything to He Wei. I told him about this already.”
Song Mian was someone who could anger her in this moment but melt her in the next.
Yun Zhibin would refuse to move in if she said the unit was Song Mian’s. If Yun Zhibin took advantage like that, he would have to be blind to some things Song Mian did. Even so, Yun Xiangxiang wanted them to live comfortably.
Yun Lin’s room might be huge, but it wasn’t great for housing three people. She couldn’t ask Yun Lin to go downstairs every time. Her parents might not visit frequently after this due to accommodation issues.
“Why didn’t you say so this morning?” Yun Zhibin asked puzzledly as he went upstairs.
That’s one direct question.
