Heir of Synthesis: The World Mage

Chapter 394: I’m Enough

  • Next Chapter

As time passed, increasingly bizarre and terrifying Specters continued to emerge. Within just a few hours, the size of the horde had increased tenfold, placing suffocating pressure on the entire battlefield.

Fortunately, Priam’s earlier caution had proven its worth. Since everyone had conserved their energy up until that point, the Sages were given permission to unleash their Essence of Creation during the most dangerous moments.

This, combined with the overwhelming combat power of the frontline, allowed them to maintain a flawless formation even under a storm of attacks.

All the knowledge, training, and effort Priam had poured into these people was proving its worth. Their mastery over the power of their classes, their knowledge of combat tactics and methods, as well as Dandara’s perfect command, had transformed those little more than two thousand warriors into true disciplined monsters, capable of standing their ground against colossal hordes without retreating a single step.

The other core disciples also helped, attacking and defending to create openings at the right moments.

On the other defensive lines, however, things didn’t go nearly as well. In less than an hour, two entire sects had been completely wiped out and erased from the map.

Among the surviving sects, most were already teetering on the brink of total collapse. Only five armies still maintained a minimally stable defense.

*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*

Suddenly, without anyone being able to tell exactly how much time had passed, deafening explosions tore through the air, and the entire planet shook violently. It was as if the sky itself were about to collapse.

Priam turned his gaze toward the spatial channel.

The Spectral Generals were about to cross over!

**CRASH!**

The channel exploded into fragments. It disappeared completely, leaving behind a colossal vortex that looked like a gateway flung wide open to hell itself. The vortex trembled, releasing sinister waves of suffocating power.

Within seconds, a dozen secondary portals tore through space, and a new wave of elite monsters began to emerge.

"Everyone, focus on defense and fall back!" Priam ordered. The next instant, he shot forward alone toward the main gate.

He wasn’t the only one. Almost simultaneously, five other figures belonging to the five most powerful sects moved in the same direction.

Everyone there knew the stories of past eruptions.

On the rare occasions when a third eruption had occurred, the Spectral Generals that emerged had been entities of an entirely different order. Not only did they possess overwhelming power, but they also had the abominable ability to devour the blood of dead Sages to regenerate instantly, while becoming even stronger in the process.

Because of this, the golden rule when facing a third eruption was clear: never allow the Generals to get close to the armies. The leaders of each army had to advance and contain them in isolated duels on a smaller scale.

Priam activated his elemental physique and cut through the sky like a trail of wind, reaching a terrifying speed. In less than two seconds, he was already at the epicenter of the chaos.

The gate was a translucent, still-unstable vortex. Through the dimensional barrier, Priam could see a dark place and, in the distance, nine colossal and terrifying figures slowly advancing.

Those monsters were struggling against the overwhelming pressure of space in order to cross over to the planet, something that would still take a few minutes to complete.

Priam narrowed his eyes. ’Nine? The historical record was six Spectral Generals... Looks like we’re setting a new record today.’

At that moment, Priam sensed the approach of the other five elite Sages.

He turned to face them: three men and two women.

Four of them were Veteran-level Acquired Celestials. The fifth, however, was a short young man whose aura made Priam raise an eyebrow. He was clearly a Celestial, but he didn’t have the Golden Mark sealed on his forehead like the others.

"An Innate Celestial?" Priam murmured.

The young man curled his lips into a proud smile and nodded. "Yes. I heard that the Ironweald Sect had an Innate Celestial in command, just like my sect, the Eyes of Purgatory."

Priam merely nodded, keeping his expression neutral.

The newcomers turned their gazes toward the inside of the portal, and within seconds, the arrogance on their faces was replaced by astonishment.

"Nine..."

"There are only six of us to face nine of those things... This is going to be ridiculously complicated!" one of them muttered, his voice filled with apprehension.

None of them even considered forming a team. The mentality of these prodigies was strictly individualistic; each intended to draw one enemy toward themselves and fight it alone.

The tension in the air lasted for barely ten seconds, until Priam let out an indifferent snort.

"Don’t worry about it. You won’t have to lift a finger."

"What?" they all reacted almost at the same time, as if doubting what they had just heard.

Priam didn’t even bother answering. He simply turned his back to them, faced the dimensional vortex, and extended his right hand.

*BUZZZZ!*

Suddenly, the atmosphere around him distorted violently. Wild, crackling arcs of Destruction Thunder began condensing in the palm of his hand with a deep hum.

The five Sages behind him exchanged glances. Three of them burst into laughter, filled with disdain.

"Hey, brat! Don’t be an idiot!" one of the Veteran Celestials mocked.

"Haha! You think you’re such a badass that you can attack them before they even arrive?" one of the women laughed loudly, crossing her arms with a superior look. "Don’t be ridiculous! During the other eruptions, others had the same idea and tried exactly the same stupid thing!"

"Even when ten Veteran Celestials combined their strongest attacks, they couldn’t break through the portal’s spatial barrier! Who the hell do you think you are to pull off something like that...?"

The man’s sentence suddenly trailed off halfway.

The mocking smiles on the faces of the three instantly froze, and they nearly jumped backward in sheer terror.

"Who gives a damn about anyone else? I’m more than enough." Priam’s voice rang out calmly.

Priam simply flexed his fingers and unleashed the attack.

*PIERCE!!*

A sharp, devastating boom pierced everyone’s eardrums. The Destruction Thunder shot forward like an absolute lightning spear, tearing through the spatial barrier and plunging deep into the dimensional portal!

**RUMBLE!!**

A shockwave exploded from within the Specters’ small world. The vortex wavered, releasing a blinding flash as destructive reverberations echoed through the surroundings.

It took several long seconds for color to return to the faces of those five Sages.

Their minds were completely blank. Still dazed, the young Innate Celestial pulled out the informational runic inscription.

The runes came together, and his eyes widened.

*1st — Priam – Ironweald Sect – 9 Billion Kill Points*

The young man swallowed hard, utterly stunned. The other four hurried over in a panic, staring at the information. Then...

They saw that second place had a mere 4 billion points.

"This... this is impossible..." one of the Veteran Celestials stammered, his voice faltering.

Still unable to believe it, they turned their eyes toward the inside of the portal. Within the dimensional mist, there were now only 8 Spectral Generals remaining!

One of them had been completely reduced to dust before it could even set foot on the planet!
