Heir of Synthesis: The World Mage
Chapter 347: Far From Invincible
Priam stared at that Celestial.
[Name: Thiller Zharth]
[Race: Soul Crusher]
[Magic Title: Ninth-Level Celestial Sorcerer Master]
[Karmic Title: Wandering Soldier]
[Bloodline: 50]
[Anima: 70]
[Wheel of Destiny: 95]
[Loyalty: Extremely Low]
The System didn’t indicate the levels of a Celestial. But this figure’s Wheel of Destiny was truly incredible. Could that have something to do with becoming a Celestial, or perhaps with the way one became a Celestial?
It didn’t matter.
Priam snorted, then quickly advanced at maximum alertness.
His instincts warned him: that was undoubtedly a Veteran Acquired Celestial. Any mistake could be fatal.
However, his opponent still radiated blind confidence. Priam was certain that the enemy was saving his ultimate trump card for a decisive moment.
This was the perfect opportunity to understand the higher level of Acquired Celestials. Unfortunately, time was working against him. Priam needed to push him to his limits without wasting time, forcing him to reveal all his cards before being exterminated.
"?"
As he crossed the five-meter mark, Priam felt the air become denser. He had entered a bizarre invisible force field.
At that same second, his Celestial Core reacted, as if it were awakening to something new.
A spark of excitement ignited within Priam as he felt a subtle transformation taking place inside his own body. This was an unexpected surprise.
It seemed that fighting Celestials at this level and beyond would give him something extra.
Closing the final distance, Priam threw a precise punch with Ananke, which devoured as much Ether as Priam had available.
The Celestial snorted coldly. The runes engraved on his blade gleamed with a peculiar light as it clashed against Priam’s fist.
*BOOOM!*
A golden light erupted from the impact, shaking the barrier. Priam’s body trembled, and his left arm went slightly numb from the vibration.
’What colossal strength...’ Priam admired inwardly. That blade of his was abnormal, possibly made from some special metal that had withstood the impact without suffering even the slightest crack.
Priam was pushed back several steps, but the Celestial was equally stunned.
His raw strength placed him at the very top of the entire young generation of Sorcerers. Throughout his life, he had always crushed his opponents using nothing but his physical advantage.
After reaching the rank of Veteran Acquired Celestial, his sect had gifted him that divine sword. With it, even without possessing power equivalent to a Sage, he had already killed several opponents at that level.
Yet Priam’s punch had left his entire arm numb—and the blade had nearly been ripped from his hands. How could he not be shocked?
Taking advantage of that millisecond of hesitation, Dandara threw her daggers like deadly projectiles. The blades sliced through space with precision, consuming only a tiny fraction of Miasma.
*CRASH!*
The Celestial raised his blade in time, deflecting the impact and shattering the attack.
But the force of the collision made him stagger and retreat. Without giving him any breathing room, Priam charged forward again.
*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*
Dandara attacked as well, and at that moment, she was using her greatest strength.
Recently, after receiving the ’Goddess’s Legacy’ and beginning to learn all of its techniques, she discovered that she was actually much better at attacking from a distance than fighting in close quarters.
It wasn’t that Dandara lacked power in close combat—her Transcendental Anima granted her terrifying reaction speed and physical ability. However, controlling her daggers from a distance while mixing in Miasma proved to be three times more efficient and absurdly more economical.
The greatest example was her initial attack when she engaged in this battle. The Goddess had many devastating long-range techniques.
But unfortunately, Dandara had already chosen to become a Fighter Mage. After creating the Jade Core, there was no way to turn back. So her main power would forever remain below what it should have been.
She had already told Priam about this before, lamenting her bad luck. This was something normal among Mages; the decision of which class to choose happened very early, and Young ones usually didn’t know exactly what they were truly good at.
*CLANG! BOOM!*
With Priam pressuring him in close combat and Dandara attacking from a distance, the Celestial was cornered, retreating step by step. No matter how powerful he was, coordinating his defenses against these two was unsustainable.
Dandara could still attack a few dozen more times with what little she had left, so she didn’t hesitate and kept her daggers moving continuously, although she maintained a slightly slower pace out of fear of accidentally hitting Priam. Still, the two of them were extremely powerful when fighting together.
"So what if you two are fighting together?! Possession of the World Laws!"
After retreating several meters, the Celestial roared in pure frenzy. The Celestial Mark on his forehead transformed radically, taking on a deep and grotesque color.
Priam halted his advance, staring at the enemy with a sharp gaze.
The trump card had finally been revealed. If he had waited another second, he would have ended the fight too soon.
The space around them began to tremble violently. The expressions of Priam and Dandara changed.
The world around them began to twist, as if an invisible hand were pulling everything in a single direction.
All the energies of the planet—whether Ether, natural elements, or anything else that existed—were being forcibly drawn toward that Celestial.
It was as if the laws of the world themselves were acting, benefiting that Celestial with all the power available around him. Whether it was corruption or the Yin of death, nothing was being spared. Everything was being absorbed into that figure’s body, turning into energy for his own use.
Priam was genuinely shocked.
That... was basically the same way he fought against the Sorcerers, absorbing corruption and transforming it into Ether. But in this Celestial’s case, he was absorbing *everything* that existed around him.
It was a version of Priam’s own power, only a thousand times more broken, since it wasn’t limited to corruption.
The space-time around him began to vibrate, creating a multicolored halo several meters wide around his body.
Not only did he recover 100% of his lost energy, but his reserves rose to 500%, as the excess energy remained around him, encircling his body.
"Die!" A sickly flush appeared on the Celestial’s face. Clearly, controlling that power wasn’t easy. After all, he had only recently become a Veteran Acquired Celestial.
Space trembled as he moved his blade.
"Soul Obliteration!" He charged forward and slashed fiercely at Priam, his terrifying energy splitting the world in two.
Priam took a deep breath.
[Activate Power Rune?] [Yes / No]
Without hesitation, he finally activated the Yin Enchantment rune, amplifying his wind power beyond its limits.
His entire Elemental Physique pulsed.
*Sky-Rending Wind!*
His fists delivered a precise strike. This was the most powerful wind attack Priam had.
Unfortunately, the offensive power of Sky-Rending Wind, after he reached the Sage level, was already far below what it should have been. This first offensive technique of his would soon have to be abandoned, as its potential had reached its limit.
Still, it was useful for the moment. After all, there was no point in using his truly powerful techniques, because this enemy wouldn’t die from them anyway. It was better to use something lighter that he was extremely accustomed to, since it would be more precise.
**BOOOOM!!!**
The attacks collided fiercely against each other. A deafening explosion echoed out, making even those in the sky stop in alarm.
Priam’s arm was shaken with such intensity that he was sent flying backward. The explosive shockwave was so violent that his flesh was horribly torn apart. But Mirra quickly began healing him.
When Priam’s vision recovered, he saw that a huge crater had formed. At the bottom, a spring of water was gushing out.
He couldn’t hear anything, but he could see that exhausted figure in the center.
The Celestial’s face was as pale as paper. His aura had plummeted, and his previous attack had completely exhausted his energy. Now he was desperately struggling to breathe.
When he looked up and saw Priam, he was horrified. Was he perfectly fine? How was that possible?!
"Fuck..." The Sorcerer spat dryly, and the Celestial Mark on his forehead began pulsing again.
It was the same ’Possession of the World Laws’ he had used before.
But this time...
"!"
Before the technique could even begin to work, a hand quickly grabbed him by the neck.
Priam had already seen everything he needed to see. So he wasn’t going to let him drag out this fight for no reason.
With his other hand, he reached toward that figure’s forehead.
[Dominate?] [Yes / No]
With the System’s help, all it took was a confirmation, and the Celestial Mark was ripped away from him.
"AAAAAH!" A terrible roar of agony consumed the Sorcerer.
The pain was extremely sharp; it was like having a piece of his soul ripped out. Soul pain was the kind of pain that only someone who had experienced it could understand. It couldn’t be compared to any kind of physical pain—it was thousands of times worse.
"Quiet."
*BANG!*
Priam struck him in the back of the head, knocking him unconscious, and then removed all of his power. After removing the mark, all he had to do was purge the corruption from his body and destroy his internal Core. After that, nothing would remain of him.
After capturing the figure alive, Priam took a deep breath.
’If this Veteran Acquired Celestial had power equivalent to a Sage... even if I truly fought at 100% of my strength, I think it would be a really difficult battle,’ he seriously reflected.
’That’s because he’s only at the second stage of the Celestials. If he were a Specialist... I think my chances of victory would be less than 10%. If he were a Supreme Celestial, with a Sovereign Manifestation... I don’t know exactly what that power is, but I’d say I’d lose with 99.99% certainty.’
At that moment, Priam felt pressured. His power was still far from absolute, and he was nowhere near invincible against anyone at the same Rank.
The Celestials were definitely his greatest challenge, and the greatest enemies standing in his path.
