Heavenly Harem: Raising My Disciple With Infinite Dual Cultivation
Chapter 229: CH. 229 | Good Deeds bring Good Karma
The two of them flew off quickly, following Lin Tian’s instructions, leaving Yanzhe City to head back to the Lingxian Sect.
Building a simple house didn’t require a Nascent Soul cultivator, someone at Core Formation with solid cultivation understanding and strong qi energy would do just fine.
Lin Tian waited at the tavern, expecting them to come find him there. After about 15 minutes of waiting, they arrived with a Core Formation cultivator in tow, Li Huan.
"Li Huan?" Lin Tian greeted, turning to look at the young man, Su Hua’s son.
He came over to Lin Tian’s table along with the two Foundation Establishment cultivators from earlier. Li Huan looked confused, since he knew exactly how powerful Lin Tian was in the cultivation world.
But he was a bit shocked to hear that Lin Tian needed help building a house, a simple house in Xiayu Village.
"With your abilities, you should be able to build that house with just a snap of your fingers."
"I can’t do that," Lin Tian answered. "If I did, they’d realize who I am."
"I’ll pay you like I would a wealthy merchant hiring a cultivator to build a house," Lin Tian explained.
Li Huan listened and gave a brief nod. Hearing Lin Tian’s explanation helped him understand why Lin Tian was reluctant to use his own power.
Even so, there was one thing he was genuinely confused about, why Lin Tian was in a mortal village, apparently intending to live like an ordinary mortal.
"What’s going on, Master Lin? Why are you planning all this?" Li Huan asked.
Lin Tian fell silent, then told the two Foundation Establishment cultivators to leave so he and Li Huan could talk privately. They listened and obeyed, leaving the tavern, leaving only Lin Tian and Li Huan inside.
"Elder An Yue is pregnant," Lin Tian explained.
"Senior Sister An Yue is pregnant? That means you—"
"I suggested taking her away so she can focus on her pregnancy. I don’t want her wearing herself out with sect matters," Lin Tian answered. "Just for a year. Once our child is born, we’ll come back."
Li Huan was genuinely surprised, though he’d suspected as much. After all, Lin Tian and An Yue were a lawfully married couple, so of course they’d done that, and pregnancy was a natural result.
What he hadn’t expected was Lin Tian’s decision to step away from the bustle of the sect and choose an ordinary life as a mortal in a small village outside the sect’s territory.
"Does Grand Elder Wu know about this?"
Lin Tian cleared his throat briefly. He told Li Huan that Wu Yue had already been informed, and that he understood and hadn’t objected much, especially since Wu Yue was already used to running the sect during Lin Tian’s absences.
He could manage the sect well, even better now, given that there was no major threat at the moment and Lin Tian’s absence would only last a year.
"Alright. I hope you two stay healthy," Li Huan said.
"So, where will you two be living?" the young man asked.
"Xiayu Village, north of Yanzhe City. It doesn’t have many residents, which makes the atmosphere quite peaceful and calm."
"In that case, allow me to treat you as an ordinary mortal, in line with your plan, Master Lin," Li Huan said.
"Of course, that’s exactly what you should do."
After talking, the two of them left the tavern, heading for Xiayu Village. Li Huan walked alongside Lin Tian, still wearing his sect robes to mark himself as a cultivator, while Lin Tian wore the simple robes typical of a mortal.
They chatted casually along the way, and Li Huan took the opportunity to ask Lin Tian a few questions about techniques and weapons. Since there wasn’t much else to do, Lin Tian didn’t mind answering each of Li Huan’s questions.
Right after crossing the river bridge, the two of them saw the gate of Xiayu Village right ahead. Lin Tian and Li Huan walked in, and the young man’s attention was drawn to the village around him.
What Lin Tian had said was true. Li Huan saw that the village was calm and clean, peaceful and pleasant, with few enough residents that Lin Tian could focus on looking after An Yue’s condition throughout her pregnancy.
Lin Tian turned and greeted a few villagers, "Good afternoon!"
Li Huan did the same, clasping his hands together and greeting them just as Lin Tian had. Lin Tian brought Li Huan to the inn to meet An Yue.
When the room door opened, An Yue turned and saw someone who looked familiar to her. Li Huan was one of An Yue’s core disciples at the Technique and Weapon Hall.
Li Huan immediately recognized the woman in front of him. He clasped his hands together and bowed his head, "Greetings, Master An Yue."
"Li’er?"
"Why are you here?" An Yue asked.
"He’s here to help us build the house," Lin Tian explained. "And I also want to see how his qi manipulation skills have come along."
Li Huan smiled. He assured them he wouldn’t disappoint them. He’d do his best to build a simple house so Lin Tian and An Yue could live comfortably.
An Yue was happy to see Li Huan, and glad he was willing to help them this time. Not wanting to waste any time, they left the inn right away and headed for a plot of empty land north of the village, not far from the village center.
Lin Tian made sure to pick the right plot for the house. Once he found a suitable spot, Lin Tian handed over a pouch of money containing spirit stones.
"T-This is payment for building our house, Master Cultivator."
Li Huan looked a little startled, not used to being addressed that way, but he quickly caught himself and got moving on his plan. He accepted the money and told Lin Tian and An Yue to step back.
"Step back! Let me handle this quickly."
Li Huan’s hands formed a series of seals, and a bright blue formation appeared above the empty plot, drawing the attention of quite a few villagers.
They heard a rumbling sound from the north, along with a dazzling blue light. Curiosity got the better of them, and they hurried north to see what was happening there.
"Look! There’s a cultivator!"
"Wow, seems like those new residents managed to hire that cultivator to build them a house."
"Obviously, using qi power to build a house is way faster than just relying on regular workers."
The wooden house’s structure began to take shape, walls rising and a front yard forming perfectly. Li Huan narrowed his eyes and sharpened his focus, giving it everything he had to build the house for Lin Tian and An Yue.
This would be the greatest achievement of his life so far, becoming someone Lin Tian could rely on, becoming the one who built a house for Lin Tian and An Yue.
In the future, Lin Tian and An Yue’s child would be born in this very house, a house built by Li Huan. That alone would be an accomplishment all his own.
Before long, the house was fully formed. Lin Tian could see it clearly now, just a few finishing touches left on the roof before the house would be complete and ready to live in.
Li Huan stopped his technique, then turned and dispelled the rune array beneath Lin Tian’s house. His eyes met Lin Tian’s directly.
"I’ve built the house for you. If anything breaks down the line, you’ll have to take care of it yourself," Li Huan said.
Lin Tian smiled and thanked Li Huan. But before Li Huan could leave, several villagers blocked his way, asking for his help.
"Are you free? I need help, my roof’s leaking."
"I need my tools fixed, I bet you could help me with that."
"Please take me into town, I’ll introduce you to my pretty granddaughter."
Li Huan looked startled, then glanced over at Lin Tian. Lin Tian gave a small smile, then looked back at Li Huan with a broad grin.
"Master Cultivator is truly wise and virtuous. I’m sure helping them will help you find your own path to the heavens someday," Lin Tian said, clasping his hands together and bowing his head.
An Yue heard what Lin Tian said and let out a small laugh at the whole scene, especially at Li Huan struggling to deal with the villagers.
"I-I have to help them?" Li Huan asked.
"Good deeds always leave behind good karma. You’ll come to realize that the kindness you show them today will have a huge impact on your future," Lin Tian answered.
"Thank you, Master Cultivator, for helping us build our house."
Lin Tian walked off, bringing An Yue into their new house, while Li Huan looked flustered, not sure what to do about his current situation.
An Yue glanced briefly at Li Huan, then looked back at Lin Tian, "Will Li’er be okay?"
"He’ll be fine, just might be a little worn out today."
"He’s a good kid, we’re lucky to have him as a disciple of the Lingxian Sect," Lin Tian added.
An Yue smiled. She’d known that for a while now, since the two of them had interacted a lot over the past several years. "You’re right."
"He’s going to be a great cultivator someday."
