Chapter 169 - 169. Let's Catch A Snake
The Quidditch had ended, so it was a 1-day break before the classes started. Today, Magnus had planned to enter the hole. He was preparing for his journey and for this he had arrived at Gringotts, to see his vault.
He entered it through normal means and a long journey. Inside, he quickly picked a few wands for himself. Then he went to the work in Merlin's vault.
There, he started forging something that would help them with dealing with the Basilisk, mainly the eyes. Other than this, he took some potions and Rune books to study them. He'd hoped it would help Ragnar.
After being done with this, he went back up. There, he saw the Head Goblin Novgor. He had asked him to stop by before returning to the school. Magnus had also secretly come here with George.
He arrived at the private room, the Gringotts had given it to him for being the secret boss.
"Welcome, Your Majesty, please take a seat." Norgov quickly started to grovel.
"I need to go back to school, Mr Norgov. I have some important things to do there." Magnus told him, signalling to be quick.
Norgov rubbed his hands like the greedy person he was. "Well, sir, you told me last year that you would help us with some investments. Gringotts has some funds left out, so I wanted to ask you about it. On which company should I invest?"
"Tech companies like Intel, IBM or even Entertainment companies like Disney will do. The technology of the world is advancing very fast. The world is getting closer to each other and globalisation is the craze. All these companies will expand and become huge in the future. But don't expect this to be a scheme of doubling money in a year. You will have to wait for more than a decade at the very least." Magnus told him quickly.
He had a very good sense when it came to business and hoarding money, especially gold, which was his favourite hobby.
Novgor quickly wrote down all the names of the companies Magnus blurted. "I will see check them, sir."
"Take care then, and keep auditing the accounts of all the families I told you about. If they break the contract, freeze the accounts." He instructed and left.
He called George first and told him where he wanted to go, "To Dorset, Newt Scamander's home."
"Aye Aye, sir." George teleported with him.
...
*Knock Knock*
Tina Goldstein Scamander opened the door.
Magnus greeted her, "Good morning, Mrs Scamander"
She was a little shocked by this, "Magnus, come in. What brought you here?"
While walking in, he started telling her, "I needed to transport something very big through a small place. So I came to ask Mr Scamander for his suitcase, that is if he is comfortable giving it."
"He would surely give it, it's not as if he goes anywhere these days." She said and led him to the living room, where Magnus sat and George stood at the side.
"You can sit too, we don't discriminate in this house." She told the elf.
George had a habit of doing this because although his boss was very kind, it didn't mean everyone else would be either.
After that, she went to call Newt, who was probably with the magical beasts. Magnus meanwhile made sure his money pouch was totally secure in his chest pocket. Those Nifflers were very sneaky beasts.
After waiting for a few minutes, Newt came, and just behind him was David. Magnus had nearly forgotten about him because of all the chaos a few days back.
He got up and shook their hands, "David, how are you?"
David seemed much livelier now, and the aura around him spoke of the changes in him. He smiled and replied, "Very good, Magnus. You didn't feel the shock this time, right?"
Magnus just realised this, "Oh, does this mean you can use magic now?"
"Yes and no, I am still learning to control it for now. I'm taking my inspiration from many friendly magical beasts. And Mr Scamander has helped me stabilise whenever my magic goes out of control. But those cases have decreased now." David briefed him about his progress.
Old Newt took a seat and joyfully spoke, "Thank you, Magnus. David is such a polite boy, with him around, I can take care of the beasts twice as much as before. He's been a great help."
"Nice to hear that, Sister Mary would be happy to hear this too. Do send her a letter some time, David." Magnus advised him.
"Here, drink this tea. I grew it myself, it can calm minds." Mrs Scamander gave him a teacup.
Magnus happily drank it, not acting too conserved. Besides, one of the charms of being a kid was that adults don't get angry about little things.
"Uncle Scamander, I need your suitcase for something important." Magnus requested. This was his technique to butter some people. Would you say no to the Future King of Britain for something? Especially when the king called you uncle?
"You can take it, but tell me what are you going to do with it?" Newt inquired.
"Well, I need to transport a very big item, an animal actually. Don't worry, I know what I am doing. When I will come to study with you, I will show you the animal. I can guarantee you that you will be amazed." Magnus replied and wondered what Newt's reaction will be after seeing nearly all XXXXX ranked beasts from around the world living together and playing like little kids.
Newt didn't ask further, the suitcase was of no use to him anyway, and he can always make more of them later. And he liked Magnus enough not to deny, after all, Magnus had helped him with his house loan; he now didn't need to worry about money and could help the beasts better. "Fine then, you can have it."
"Thank you, I will return it later. Okay, I need to go now, I got a lot of things to do today. Bye-bye..." Magnus just took the suitcase and dashed away with George.
Newt and Tina were left in a daze.
"Wait, we didn't even congratulate him for catching that monster in human skin. Also, his quidditch win." Tina remembered.
"Well, now he's gone. Good to see him take so much interest in beasts." Newt muttered in satisfaction.
To this Tina scoffed, "Of course, you would appreciate it, your first love are those beasts after all, poor old me probably has a small corner location in your heart."
Newt panicked, "Oh... Tina... that's not the case... you have my whole heart... really."
Seeing this she laughed, "HAHAHA... Newton Artemis Fido Scamander, no matter how grown-up you act in front of kids, you were and will always be the Newt I know. The one who couldn't take my hints."
"Come on, that was decades ago, and how was I supposed to know I should kiss you?" He tried to defend himself.
But she shook her head, "We were standing at the port, you were leaving for Britain, we were looking into each other's eyes for 5 minutes straight and continuously saying goodbye. Hell, I even moved a little closer to give you the hint."
Newt raised his finger to say something but then put it down and sighed, "*Sigh* I guess I really was a dense man back then."
...
Magnus arrived at Camelot this time. He needed to catch Duck in the suitcase.
"Grandma, where is Duck?" Magnus asked Martha, she was happily cooking something in the giant kitchen. It was her favourite hobby.
"Welcome, dear. Duck must be by the Blue Lake. He's probably playing with Horne Serpent and Sea Serpent there. Oh, and before you go, I will pack these cookies for you, take them with you and share them with friends." She told him.
"Okay, Grandma. George can help you pack it too. I will find Duck till then." Magnus said and flew out with a broom.
Duck was at least playing with beasts of his size now. The Horned Serpent was another XXXXX beast, while the sea serpent was XXX. The sea serpents were common and they were also very friendly creatures, seldom harming humans. They had a head resembling a horse and the body of a snake, but they grew huge in size, going as far as 100 feet.
The most famous Sea Snake in the world was Loch Ness Monster, but that not actually a sea serpent. It was a Kelpie(shapeshifting water demon) whose favourite form was that of a Sea Serpent.
Soon, Magnus arrived over the Blue Lake and saw the three creatures playing in the water, splashing it at each other, but with enough force that a normal human would die from it.
Magnus directly landed on the giant head of Sea Serpent. All of them immediately recognised him and didn't attack. The Sea Serpent also seemed very happy.
"Having fun? Well, I am going to bring another friend for you all. It will be a 1000-year-old giant Basilisk. But, don't worry, I will take care of his eye problem and also teach him well." Magnus announced them.
Here, only the other big XXXXX beast could deal with the Basilisk if it came to that.
"Duck, come with me, we will be catching that Basilisk soon," Magnus instructed him and opened the suitcase, leaving it on the ground.
"QUACK!" Duck replied and happily walked into the suitcase. He was also hungry for some fighting.
Then he waved goodbye at the snakes and flew back to the castle.
"Grandma, I'm leaving. Where are the cookies?" He asked.
"S-Sir... here..."
Magnus's eyes fell on a large cloth bag, it was even bigger than him, but George was standing behind it, "These are the cookies?"
Martha chuckled, "Hehe, I made a little too much. Don't forget to share."
"Friends? I think this would be enough for all students in the school. Well, let's go, George. But don't bring this bag along, take it to Diagon Alley and mail it to me. This way I can justify where I got it from." He ordered.
