Harem Startup : The Demon Billionaire is on Vacation
Chapter 1111: My Time is Ticking
Chapter 1111 – My Time is Ticking
The elevator hummed like a sleeping beast.
Not the clean mortal kind with soft music and polished mirrors, no. This one descended through layers of reinforced infernal space, its walls black glass veined with gold, its floor etched with rotating sigils that glowed every time it passed another boundary layer.
Above Lux, the ceiling reflected him in fragments, dark hair still slightly messy from the morning, black suit clean again because dignity could be restored by wardrobe magic if not by personal choices, gold cufflinks catching faint red light, expression calm enough to fool strangers and absolutely no one who knew him.
His eyes stayed on the system panel floating in front of him.
An email from Heaven remained open.
The system panel shimmered.
FROM: Celestial.Office @heavenlight.admin
TO: lux.vaelthorn @vaultnexus.infernal
SUBJECT: Concerning King Kaelmor’s Neutral-Space Meeting
Prince Vaelthorn,
King Kaelmor met us in neutral space after Heaven refused him direct gate access. He challenged your permit as favoritism and repeatedly referenced your role, suggesting he knows, or strongly suspects, your continued communication with you. We also believe he is coordinating with the old celestial order. Recent attacks against Solara, Selena, Vizreel, and myself now appear connected to his effort to replace current Heaven leadership with factions indebted to him. Please move carefully. He is no longer only circling you. He is circling all of us.
Sincerely,
Goddess Celestaria
High Custodian of Progression Paths, Upper Celestial Office
Lux read it once.
Then again, because his brain was annoying and liked turning danger into spreadsheets.
Kaelmor had gone to neutral space.
He had pressured Heaven about the gate.
He had mentioned Lux.
Not vaguely. Not as casual complaint. Kaelmor did not do casual. Every sentence that man breathed was an instrument with teeth. If he said Lux’s name in front of Celestaria, Vizreel, Solara, and Selena, then it meant he wanted Heaven to feel watched. Wanted them to know he knew enough. Wanted them to question which wall had ears.
Lux’s thumb rested against his chin.
The elevator light passed over his face, shadow and gold, shadow and gold.
Old celestial order.
Attacks on Heaven leadership.
He clicked his tongue softly.
"So he is not just trying to replace Hell’s representative," Lux murmured. "He is trying to replace the people who would recognize mine."
[Correct.]
The system’s voice came smooth, dry, and annoyingly pleased to confirm bad news.
[King Kaelmor appears to have selected "political board wipe" as his preferred morning hobby.]
Lux stared at the email.
He should have felt surprise.
He did not.
Somewhere deep in him, behind the lust, greed, and charm, he had expected this. Kaelmor did not like obstacles. Kaelmor liked ownership disguised as order. If Heaven would not bend under his crown, then he would find angels who would.
Replace the current light order with old-order fanatics.
Make Heaven hostile to Lux.
Make Hell afraid of Heaven again.
Make himself necessary.
Classic tyrant accounting.
Create crisis. Sell obedience.
Lux’s smile became thin. "System. Send response. Confirm receipt. Tell Celestaria I accept the warning. I’ll proceed carefully. Ask them to be careful too."
[Would you like to include emotional reassurance?]
Lux paused.
His reflection stared back from the black glass wall. Calm. Controlled. A demon prince dressed for business while the elevator carried him down toward another problem that might try to eat him, worship him, or invoice him.
He thought of Celestaria’s still face. Solara’s sharp light. Selena’s hostility that somehow counted as loyalty when aimed correctly. Vizreel’s quiet balance.
He thought of Heaven opening a gate for him and paying for that choice in ambushes.
He exhaled.
"Add..."
The word scraped softer than he intended.
"Add that they are not alone."
[Sent.]
Lux closed his eyes for half a second.
There.
A dangerous sentence.
That was how disasters began, wasn’t it? One person said not alone, then suddenly they had allies, obligations, enemies, and emotional infrastructure. Horrible. Expensive. Very difficult to liquidate.
Greed, however, liked it.
Greed did not only hoard gold.
It hoarded people.
Lux hated when his own sin had a point.
The email folded away.
The elevator kept descending.
Below, Hell waited.
Red lights began to pulse through the elevator shaft. Not emergency red. Hell just enjoyed dramatic color theory. The deeper they went, the heavier the air became, pressing against the glass with heat and old smoke. The scent of sulfur was faint, expensive, almost perfumed. Modern Hell had learned branding. No one wanted raw volcanic misery in luxury districts anymore. They wanted velvet damnation. Polished corruption. Air conditioning with moral consequences.
Lux rolled his shoulders once. "What’s my progress now?"
The system flared immediately.
[Status Review Initiated.]
[Name: Lux Vaelthorn]
[Class: Sovereign of Twin Sins]
[Level: 490]
Lux’s eyes sharpened.
"Four hundred ninety."
[Correct.]
He said nothing.
The panel continued.
[HP: 5,118,940]
[DP: 2,086,760]
[Strength: 1,836]
[Agility: 1,951]
[Magic Affinity: 2,241]
[Charisma: 999] [MAX]
[Authority: Greed / Lust Dual Sovereign Resonance Increasing]
[Bond Network: Expanded]
[Household Resonance: Intensified]
[Combat Adaptation: Rising]
[Political Threat Level: Deeply Inconvenient]
Lux stared at the numbers.
The gap between him and the kind of beings Kaelmor had touched was shrinking, but not fast enough. Lux had power. Real power. Enough that many demon lords would step aside rather than test him. Enough that investors watched his movements like weather. Enough that Heaven, the most professionally paranoid institution in creation, had opened a gate for him under contract.
But Kaelmor had a throne.
History.
Old debts.
And centuries of rot beneath the floorboards.
Lux’s fingers flexed once.
Level 490 looked impressive until the enemy was a king who had spent ages turning people into monuments, cutting deals with discarded angels, and eating the margins between realms.
Lux’s jaw tightened.
He needed more than levels.
He needed leverage that could bite through crowns.
"I need new power," he said quietly.
The elevator hummed.
The system waited.
Lux’s gaze stayed on the panel, but his mind was somewhere else. His voice lowered. "New skills. Something that can break Kaelmor. Not annoy him. Not pressure him. Break him."
[Recommendation: Legendary-class acquisition route.]
"That’s why we’re going to Cyrinne. My time is ticking."
