He wiped his tears and continued, "It’s not that I don’t want to control them; it’s them who are simply out of control. They are like this because they are determined to take the control of the tribe from you. They have stated clearly that these things were still under their jurisdiction and they can make decisions as they wish."

Hearing this, Chief Xie was so angry that she wished she could find Shao Xia at that very moment and skin her alive. That woman! That troublesome woman! It was one thing that she left the tribe but before she left, she was adamant on causing trouble for her and the tribe. And the elders. She had never treated them harshly. Even if they sometimes went too far with their actions, she had given them face. To think that they would slap her in the face like this.

Am I supposed to go out and hunt every day? What will happen to the tribe? Your brother and brother-in-law can take care of you for the time being but they have their own teams. "Mother, I know that you are worried but Ruan Chanchan told me that she has received a new blessing from the beast goddess after helping the killer whale tribe. She told me that she can feed me and the children without a worry, so I don’t need to go out and hunt. I can stay at the tribe and nourish my pregnancy." Xie Daiyu knew that since Ruan Chanchan had made the promise she meant it, she was not going to let him go hungry. What was more, it was clear that she was worried about him and their children.

When Chief Xie heard that Ruan Chanchan had received more blessings, she heaved a sigh of relief. But at the same time the uneasy feeling did not go away. She thought that the elders were going too far. They were taking advantage of someone in one hand and at the same time they were not willing to give any benefits. "Fine, since she says that she can take care of you, I will rest easy. I am just worried that you will not get enough to eat." Chief Xie only wanted to look after Ruan Chanchan and her son; however, she knew in her heart that she had never—never—done anything that was too out of the line. Chief Xie wanted to refuse but upon seeing that her son was looking expectantly, she sighed and said in a low voice, "Alright, I and your father will come with you."

Xie Daiyu nodded and then turned to look for Ruan Zeqiu; fortunately, he found him just in time and asked him to come with him to the cave.

Ruan Chanchan was humming a soft tune. She was frying the meat pies when she suddenly heard a soft voice behind her, "These look really good."

As soon as she heard the unfamiliar voice, she turned to look at the thing that was hovering behind her. Ruan Chanchan was so startled that she ended up slipping off the stone on which she was sitting and looked at the little elfish fairy that was flying behind her. Her eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the tiny fairy from head to toe.

"You...what are you?"

The second she finished speaking, the little fairy turned to look at Ruan Chanchan and asked, "You...you can see me?"
