Chapter 271: No tears allowed

A few hours later, Lisa slipped out of Fae’s tent, stretching her arms above her head as the first hints of dawn painted the sky.

She made her way toward Shin’s tent, the flap already slightly open. Peeking inside, she found Yasmin sprawled across the bedroll, trembling through the last waves of her final orgasmic bliss.

Her body was still flushed, slick with sweat, her eyes half-lidded and glassy as she basked in the afterglow.

Lisa smiled, admiring the girl. Yasmin had clearly enjoyed herself a great deal, her ruined, satisfied state making her look even hotter.

But the little fairy was not there to admire Yasmin’s well-fucked pussy.

"I see you had your fun." Lisa finally smiled, her eyes moving from Yasmin to Shin.

The man nodded, shifting his position as Yasmin once again became invisible. This time around, it was not her choice; her unconscious body simply relaxed, and she returned to her more natural state.

Shin could still feel her warm body against him, but he couldn’t see her. Slowly, even her weight seemed to fade away, becoming only a faint, almost nonexistent sensation.

It was a bit weird, and the man was once again reminded of how unique her skills were.

But his mind didn’t dwell on the subject for even a second, as his attention immediately shifted to the small fairy floating before him.

"Finally, we have some time alone." Lisa chuckled and chose to lean on Shin’s shoulder this time, pressing her small cheek against his face.

The contact sent a good shiver down Shin’s body as he completely relaxed, memories coming back from a time long ago.

"And just to make one thing clear, no tears allowed," Lisa said, making Shin chuckle a little.

His wife had always been strongly against overly emotional moments, especially when she felt they were in danger or had more pressing problems to deal with.

"Okay, let’s leave my long hug and tears for after we defeat the Imperial Queen," Shin commented, rolling his eyes. "But it’s not like we’re in any real danger right now."

"Don’t try disobeying your superior’s orders!" Lisa floated in front of him, pointing at him, her tone harsh.

"We’re not in the military anymore, dumbass," Shin retorted with a smile.

Lisa looked down at herself, noticing the cute green dress she was wearing. Of course, she knew she wasn’t in the army anymore, but it was still hard for her to let that sink in.

She had spent so much of her life in a constant state of alert, always wearing military uniforms, that her brain simply couldn’t process the new reality all that well. Unlike Shin, who had spent years after her death living mostly as a civilian, she had gone directly from dying during a military operation to waking up in a fantasy world.

"But okay, I’ll obey this command, Captain," Shin said with another chuckle.

"Hey! I had achieved the rank of general before I died!" Lisa pouted, but landed on his shoulder once again.

"Anyway, are you really Lisa?" Shin finally asked in a heavy tone.

"I don’t know... I definitely feel like I’m her, but I was dead, so... I may as well be a reconstruction based on your memories... And I also have all of Lilel’s memories, so there is no way of telling if I’m the same person or not."

"You really do act just like the Lisa I knew," Shin admitted with a sigh. "But wait... you have Lilel’s memories?"

Then he realized something.

"Doesn’t she...?"

"Yes, I remember everything Lilel remembered. And, as you may have guessed, because she had all of your memories, I gained them too," Lisa said, floating away from his shoulder and stopping in front of his eyes.

Shin gulped, his body tensing slightly.

"After your death, I..." he stammered, searching for the right words, but nothing seemed to come out.

"How many times did I tell you that you shouldn’t get all depressed if I ever died?" Lisa pouted.

Shin lowered his gaze.

"I know, but..."

"No buts!" Lisa interrupted, pointing a finger at him. "You spent years mourning me when you should have been living your own life. And now you finally have a chance to be happy, and the first thing you do when you see me again is start looking like you’re about to cry."

"I’m not crying."

"You’re making the face."

"I’m not."

"You absolutely are."

Shin couldn’t help but smile faintly at her stubbornness. Lisa sighed and also couldn’t help but smile faintly. Then she floated closer, her expression softening.

"Idiot..." She gently placed a hand against his cheek. "I know you’re more emotional than me. You always were."

Her smile became a little warmer.

"And honestly, I don’t think my head is exactly normal anymore, so maybe I’m asking too much. But you really shouldn’t have felt so guilty. I knew I was going to die when I chose to save you, and I was more than satisfied with that. So stop feeling useless emotions."

"You do know that’s not how emotions work, right? You can’t just boss them around," Shin called out, holding back his tears.

"Of course you can!" Lisa declared confidently. "Anything can be bossed around. If they’re not obeying you, then it’s your failure as a commander!"

Shin rolled his eyes. It was no wonder people used to say his wife was crazy. The war had messed with her head way too much.

Still, Lisa’s expression softened. She placed a gentle kiss against his forehead before resting her own forehead against his, almost as if she were hugging his face with her small body.

"Anyway, thank you for loving me so much. And you don’t have to worry anymore," she whispered.

Her voice was quiet, unusually gentle and comforting.

"I’m here now."

She smiled softly.

"And this time, I’m not going anywhere. Whatever happens from now on, I’ll stay by your side until the very end. So stop acting like you have to carry everything by yourself."

Shin remained silent for a few seconds before finally wrapping his arms around her.

"...Okay."

Lisa smiled, landing on his shoulder once again.

"Good. Now that’s the Shin I know."

She gave the back of his head a light kick.

"Okay, there’s just one more thing I feel like I need to ask you. What happened to Lilel?"

"Oh! She’s inside me. Or at least, I have a copy of her saved inside me. She was kind of like a program created based on me. Once we have the right opportunity, I’ll probably bring her back."
