As he spoke, he sobbed loudly.

However, without Fan Jiu and his charm, Qiao Sha didn’t feel even the smallest bit of pity for him. This mer was the reason why her daughter was turned away from the doors of her house and she could no longer see her!

“Shut up!” Qiao Shao snapped at Shu Ying, wishing she could skin him alive. “You want to quibble with this lady after the trouble you have caused? I was being generous when I kicked you out of the house and didn’t kill you. I thought that a life of exile was enough for you and your family.”

“But since you refuse to drink the toast at your forfeit, then you might as well be forced to drink it.”

As she spoke, she sneered and turned to look at the mammy behind her. “Go and bring that poisoned wine.”

It was a good thing that his mer returned, thought Qiao Sha as she had regretted letting him go.
