Yu Mai was overjoyed when he heard that he could take the little cat home. While he walked with the cat in front, Ye Liu fed the little cat the spiritual water in his pouch. Though the cat was not making a fuss, it was still a bit wary. He was afraid that the cat would harm the children, so he fed the spiritual water to the baby cat for the sake of taming it.

After sipping on the spiritual water, the cat was no longer hissing. In fact, he was very calm and purred softly while being held by Yu Mai.

Their small group walked over to the last trap that Ye Liu had planted in the forest. Upon getting close to the trap, Ye Liu said, “Careful, don’t walk inside the trap. In case it is empty.” He did not want Yu Mai to get injured because the little mer was not paying attention to his surroundings and could only helplessly warn his little brother-in-law.

“Brother-in-law! It’s a deer! It’s a big deer”! Yu Mai however did not pay attention to what Ye Liu was saying, his eyes were on the two deer that were trapped in the small pit that Ye Liu had dug in the back of the forest.

When Fang Chi and Ye Liu heard his voice, the two of them glanced at one another and then rushed forward. The rabbits hanging by Ye Liu’s waist bounced as he stopped in front of the pit trap. He glanced at the game in the trap and his eyes widened.

“It’s a roe deer!” Ye Liu’s eyes brightened. It was really good! He did not expect to get so lucky. The taste of roasted venison … was something that he could never forget!

“Get the mammies! We will eat roasted venison tonight!” Ye Liu’s mouth was filled with drool when he thought about the five-spice potstickers, meatballs and slow-cooked venison. The last time he ate those things was when Yu Dong hunted a deer but they had to sell half of it. It had been a year since the last time, he got a taste of those things!

Fang Chi nodded and he immediately rushed to get the mammies. However as he rushed back and forth, he ended up slipping.

“Oww..” Fang Chi gasped as he pulled his feet out of the small hole in the ground. How come there was a hole in the ground? It wasn’t here when he went down the mountains just now.

However, soon Fang Chi did not have any of those concerns. His gaze fell on the human-shaped root buried under the dirt and his eyes lit up.

He reached out and delicately wiped the root, and the more he wiped the dirt off the root, the more the human shape became prominent and he shouted with glee, “It’s a ginseng!” It had already developed a human shape which meant that it was more than five hundred years old.

Ye Liu and the mammies had just pulled the deers out of the pit when they heard Fang Chi’s cry and they all turned to look at the ginseng in the hands of Fang Chi. Ye Liu’s eyes almost swooned back in his head when he saw the ginseng. What was going on? How come their luck suddenly got so much better?

But soon he did not think too much as he remembered Yu Dong telling him that the more they stayed with her, the more nature would favour them as they too would have a trace of the essence of nature within them. They might not be as strong as her but they would be better than the commoners.

“Keep it safe, don’t take it out. Who knows when danger might befall?” Ye Liu looked around. The situation now was dire, just how many people have fallen on the wrong path because of the current situation? They couldn’t be any less careful.

Just a few days ago, there was news of bandits killing the people outside the village. Even though this mountain was now their property, it still had a path that connected the two villages. Yu Dong was yet to close it off as it would create trouble got the people of Big Mountain Village who shared this mountain path with them.

Fang Chi nodded and was about to put the ginseng in his pockets when there was the sound of footsteps behind them. Startled, Fang Chi turned around and saw three women with swords walking over to where they were standing.

In front of them was a mammy, who was dressed in clean and expensive clothes but from the looks of it, she was in a trouble situation.

“Masters, I heard what you were saying just now… if you don’t mind can you sell the roe deer and ginseng to my master?”

“He is about to give bitch and this roe deer can help him replenish his energy,” the mammy was smiling politely and did not seem like she was here to rob anything. She was even lowering her head in a servile manner because she could see that neither Fang Chi nor Ye Liu were people who needed money.

This surprised the mammy as she did not expect that there would be someone living a blessed life when they, the members of the Imperial Family were running for their lives.
