Yu Dong’s words were like a hammer upon Second Madam Yu’s dream.
They shattered her ambitions as well as the dreams that she had for her daughter and son. Second Madam Yu stood up from the chair on which she was sitting and then said to Yu Dong, “What do you mean by that? You want my daughter’s official husband to be a mer without virtue?” A scoff escaped her lips as Second Madam Yu continued, “I know that you are jealous of my daughter.
But there is no need for you to ruin her life like such! No matter what she is your cousin. Can you watch her life fall into a pit full of fire just because of your jealousy?”
“You!” Old Madam Yu was speechless, she did not think that her daughter would say such a nonsensical thing. The one who wanted to marry Lin Hanjing was Yu Tong, however, her daughter was making it sound like it was Yu Dong who was forcing Yu Tong to marry Lin Hanjing.
How could her daughter be so shameless?
“I always knew that you were a woman without an ounce of guilt but I did not think that you were completely heartless,” Yu Dong remarked, looking calm rather than offended as she looked at Second Madam Yu whose face turned green before turning red.
“What do you mean! Yu Dong, do you think that just because you have money you can act as you like?” Second Madam Yu questioned Yu Dong angrily.
“I think you know very well what I mean,” Yu Dong answered. She crossed her arms and walked over to where Second Madam Yu was standing and then said to her. “You are not thinking about Ah Tong but instead you are caring about Yu Cheng. You want to use your daughter’s marriage as a stepping stone for your son.”

“If Ah Tong was willing to follow your will I would not have said anything but it’s clear that she doesn’t like the arrangements that you made,” Yu Dong shook her head. “Because of your selfishness, Ah Tong could have died today. Yet you are not worried about her safety, you only care about the fact that Yu Tong marries that mer whom you chose.
Second Madam Yu, I believe that among the two of us, you are more selfish than I am.”
Second Madam Yu trembled with anger, her lips were quivering as she did not expect Yu Dong to say something like this. She glared at Yu Dong as she said, “This is not up to you to decide! I am her mother I will decide whom Yu Tong will marry or not. And I am against this marriage!”
“I think you did not understand what I was saying to you,” Yu Dong’s eyes darkened as she dropped her polite smile. She looked at Second Madam Yu with a stern look on her face before saying, “I was telling you. You might be thinking that since you are Ah Tong’s mother, you can do anything right? However …”
Yu Dong trailed off before adding swiftly, “If you continue acting like this then I will have to pull a few moves as well.”
“What do you mean by that?” Second Madam Yu questioned feeling a sense of foreboding.
“The reason I handed you the old Yu house was because I wanted to make sure that neither of you will disturb me or my family but…” Yu Dong’s lips twisted in a malicious smile as she added, “However I can see that you are not willing to give up. If that is the case then shall I take it back? Secondly, I found a really interesting piece of news….”
“A woman tried to sneak inside the oil mill a few days ago and was caught by the Magistrate’s women, she said that it was you who asked her to see the process of the oil making in the mill. Is that right Second Madam Yu?”
When Second Madam Yu heard Yu Dong’s words she stiffened. A few days ago she did send a woman to the mill but as she continued to receive letters from the woman, she thought that everything was alright. She did not know that the woman was caught!
More importantly, if Yu Dong were to take away the old Yu house then…
“You signed an agreement!” Second Madam Yu countered however Yu Dong was calmer than the sea on a sunny day. She tilted her head to the side and then agreed, “That’s right, we did just like how you signed the separation agreement. By the terms of the agreement you needed to send a tael to Grandma but I am yet to see the money that you were supposed to hand your mother.”
“What’s more, what will the people in the academy say if they were to find out that Yu Cheng used the betrothal gifts of his sister’s wedding to suck up to his seniors?”
Second Madam Yu pursed her lips as if someone had sewed her lips shut. She did not think that Yu Dong would push her into a corner like this.
Indeed she had done a lot of things for which Yu Dong could sue her, but she ignored them all as Second Madam Yu thought that no matter what in the end they were related to one another and there was no need for Yu Dong to quibble over one tael that she could easily earn.

“I will add the clause that only the child of Ah Tong will be able to inherit the property that is under her name. Of course, if Ah Tong wants to give something to Lin Hanjing’s daughter then no one can stop her.”
