Guarding the Prison for 100 Years, I Emerge to Overwhelm the Demon Venerable
Chapter 431 - 176: Qi Molong, Demon King’s Feast! Farmed in the City
Qi Molong licked the corner of his mouth, his smile cold and bloodthirsty.
"And a Cultivator’s brain... an incredibly nourishing delicacy. Why would I ever waste such a thing?"
WHOOSH!
Before his voice had faded, Qi Molong made his move.
His movements were unhurried, betraying no hint of savagery.
He raised his hand and slowly brought it down.
In an instant, he had Huaisheng Daoist in his grasp.
"Have you resigned yourself to your fate?"
Seeing that Huaisheng Daoist offered no resistance, Qi Molong chuckled in spite of himself.
Not that he really cared.
He was just a Void Realm Cultivator, after all. It made no difference to Qi Molong whether he resisted or not.
Then, with a single leap, Qi Molong shot into the air and vanished into the City of Ten Thousand Beasts.
The City of Ten Thousand Beasts was majestic and immense.
Every building inside was far larger than those in the cities of the human world.
The same was true for the streets, the houses, and everything else in its alleys and lanes.
Moreover, the city was divided into two levels: upper and lower.
The surface level was inhabited by the Demon Race. Jackals, wolves, tigers, and leopards roamed freely, along with numerous Little Demons who were only halfway through their Transformation, still sporting the heads of dogs.
The lower level was where the captive humans lived.
It was also the dumping ground for the excrement of the entire city’s demons and monsters...
After Huaisheng Daoist entered the city, his senses were assaulted by an indescribable stench.
Myriad types of excrement mingled together, stretching for hundreds, even thousands of miles, like a vast, rotten swamp.
This was a place where endless filth converged.
It was also the place where Mo Long Cave kept its captive humans.
Looking at the scene before him, taking in the extreme stench.
And then seeing the countless people—their eyes vacant, devoid of all spirit—hauling excrement to water unidentifiable crops.
Huaisheng Daoist’s body trembled as a bone-deep chill washed over him.
And a surging rage that threatened to burn him to ash.
’Mo Long Cave, Qi Molong, the City of Ten Thousand Beasts...’
Huaisheng Daoist swayed, his temples throbbing so violently they felt as if they might explode.
He had never imagined the people of the Eastern Continent could suffer such a miserable fate.
For a moment, he found it hard to believe what his senses were telling him.
"What’s wrong? Can’t stand it?"
A fissure suddenly opened in the ceiling of the dim underground cavern.
A Great Demon of the Nine Tribulations Realm opened its eyes and peered down, fixing Huaisheng Daoist with a look of mockery and contempt.
"Don’t worry, you won’t have to bear it for much longer. Once the Feast of Kings begins, you could beg on your knees and still never dream of returning to this place!"
’A few more days?’
Huaisheng Daoist muttered to himself, his hand instinctively tightening around an incense stick hidden in his sleeve.
His Magical Power and True Qi had been sealed, but what Qi Molong didn’t know was that he didn’t need Magical Power at all.
But his hand trembled several times before he finally restrained himself.
It was all because of the Feast of Kings—a large group of Great Demons might be coming.
He would wipe them all out in one go!
"Useless trash!"
Seeing Huaisheng Daoist lower his head, the Great Demon chuckled softly.
"A lowly race. Even after cultivating to the Void Realm, you’re still utterly useless!"
SLAM!
With that, the Great Demon closed the fissure and was gone.
His booming laughter could still be heard echoing from a distance.
’Useless trash?’
"Heh heh..."
Huaisheng Daoist stood still for a long time before finally turning and heading into the distance.
This underground space contained numerous ancient and primitive settlements.
The smaller settlements held over a thousand people, while the larger ones numbered in the tens, or even hundreds of thousands. They huddled around small points of light, encircling patches of the rotten swamp, barely managing to survive.
They used the foul-smelling excrement to irrigate unidentifiable crops, which they then ate.
And then, the demons ate the people. So the cycle repeated.
This had given rise to a bizarre and exceedingly evil cycle.
A cycle that had already continued for over a thousand years.
Perhaps even longer...
The people here were like penned pigs and dogs, living in the utmost filth, struggling just to survive.
Their ultimate fate was to become fodder for the demons.
Huaisheng Daoist’s Magical Power and True Qi were completely sealed.
But his honed physique had not been weakened, and he walked through the dark, filthy underground with ease.
He walked past one settlement after another, seeing people who were naked, who had lost all sense of shame, who were like walking corpses.
The oppression and rage in his heart grew, bit by bit.
The people of this underground world had lost their writing, lost their heritage, and even lost the ability to speak...
They had lost everything that made them human.
These living people were just hollow walking corpses, devoid of any human presence.
They showed no reaction to Huaisheng Daoist’s sudden arrival; even their curiosity was gone.
They lived in a stupor—eating, drinking, defecating, urinating, and then mating, just waiting for death.
They were less human and more an unknown, humanoid species.
’In ancient times, stretching back to the Ancient Era, humans were raised like livestock by Demon Ghosts. All living beings suffered, and the Ten Thousand Spirits lived in endless despair...’
At one point, Huaisheng Daoist stopped in his tracks, a legend he had once read surfacing in his mind.
Like everyone on the Central Continent, he had studied these legends and had his own theories, but he had never truly understood them on a personal level.
’What was a world without light?’
’What was endless despair?’
’What did it mean to be raised like livestock?’
Before coming here, his understanding of those legends had been merely literal. He could not truly comprehend the dark ages of the past.
Now, at last, he was beginning to understand.
