Guarding the Prison for 100 Years, I Emerge to Overwhelm the Demon Venerable
Chapter 305 - 129: 7 Hegemons and 3 Fiends, Alley of Smoke and Fire, Bat Demon
North of the Netherworld lay a vast, ocean-like expanse of black marshland.
At this moment, the black marshland churned, its muddy water roiling like boiling water, sending up endless bubbles. The environment was exceedingly harsh and utterly desolate.
Only a few Netherworld Creatures searching for Spiritual Materials would occasionally pass through here.
RUMBLE!
The instant that peal of Celestial Thunder cracked, the marshland underwent a sudden, drastic change.
Following a tremendous roar, pillars of mud and sand surged like dragons, carrying untold billions of tons of fetid muck as they shot toward the sky.
They soared thousands of feet into the air, seeming to connect with the very firmament.
Looking up, the mud dragons stood like mighty peaks—a truly spectacular sight.
In an instant, the marsh surged violently, and the countless Demon Beasts living within it let out terrified roars.
An untold number of Demon Beasts were swept up by the mud dragons and flung into the sky.
They then plummeted back down, slamming heavily upon the earth.
BOOM!
High in the Netherworld’s sky, the Cloud Sea roiled as the celestial phenomena underwent a great transformation.
Dark clouds rushed in from some unknown quarter, instantly engulfing the heavens and the earth, blanketing the entire marsh.
Bolts of lightning danced within the dark clouds, looking as if a torrential downpour would begin at any moment.
A moment later, the mud dragons seemed to lose their power and rapidly disintegrated.
A deluge of muddy water rained down, blanketing everything and eliciting wails of agony and terrified shrieks from countless Demon Beasts.
CRACK!
A roaring thunderbolt split the sky, illuminating the dim heavens and revealing everything in the marsh below.
As the vast curtains of muddy water fell away, they revealed tens of thousands of jet-black peaks, as straight and sharp as swords.
The boundless marsh began to tremble violently, as if an indescribably enormous Demon Beast was shaking and struggling beneath it.
And those countless black peaks were merely the hairs on this Demon Beast’s body.
Amid the roaring thunder and roiling dark clouds, a single, incomparably cold roar shook the heavens and the earth:
"Netherworld Venerable Master!!"
The vast and mighty sound waves spread in all directions, sending violent ripples across the surface of the marsh.
Demon Beast after Demon Beast was swept along by the waves, letting out howls of utter terror.
It was a profound fear, branded into the very depths of their bloodlines.
Even the peerless Demon Beasts that had reached the Void Realm had no thought of struggling under such terrifying pressure.
BOOM!
Within the marsh, the forest of peaks trembled.
The colossal Demon Beast hidden beneath the marsh struggled violently, trying to break free.
However, the seal placed upon it was instantly activated, erupting with terrifying power.
A sky full of golden light completely submerged the area.
Everything fell silent.
...
It is said that when a nation is on the verge of collapse, calamitous omens appear. What, then, happens when an entire world is about to perish?
’Could that Demon Venerable be this harbinger of doom?’
Walking along the main road, Su Bai mulled over this question.
In that fleeting vision, he had seen many things.
This world was like a star caught by a black hole, trapped in a crisis of impending doom.
And that other, colossal world was the black hole tearing everything apart.
With such a great terror descending, nothing that happened would surprise him.
"This world..."
A thousand thoughts churned in Su Bai’s mind, finally coalescing into a single sigh.
He vanished into the wind and drifted away.
The territory of the Dayu Immortal Dynasty was vast. It was comprised of thirteen Great Provinces, each one an immense expanse of land stretching for untold thousands of miles.
Within such a vast territory, the number of cities was naturally immense.
Even between two distant cities, the customs and local culture would have their own distinct differences.
To say nothing of cities from two different provinces.
Zhangyun City was one such special place.
The city was located on the border of Yun Province, adjoining Desolate Province.
Walking into Zhangyun City, though it was separated from Desolate Province by only a single province, the local culture was so starkly different it was disorienting, as if one had stepped into another country entirely.
The city’s written script had some differences from those of other provinces, and the accent was worlds apart.
Walking down the wide streets of Zhangyun City, listening to the cries of vendors and watching the hurried passersby, Su Bai’s Heart Spirit gradually calmed.
As he journeyed, measuring the land, sometimes exorcising demons, sometimes eliminating devils, his heart was never truly at peace.
The world is shattering.
Those four words represented the fate of countless billions of lives—whether they followed the Righteous Dao or the Demon Dao, whether they deserved to die or not.
When that day came, they would all die.
But now, he had come to a realization.
No matter what crisis this world was about to face, it was not something he, in his current state, could interfere with.
If he wanted to interfere, he would first have to ascend to the very pinnacle of power.
AWOO!
The Silver-White Dog Demon at his side let out a low growl.
"You’re right. We’ve been on the road for a long time. It’s about time we had a good meal and relaxed a bit."
Su Bai nodded, hearing the urging in the Silver-White Dog Demon’s growl.
He took a slight breath, and all the scents of the city’s lively hustle and bustle flowed past his nose and mouth.
By the time he exhaled, he already knew which restaurant in the city served the best food, and which tavern had the most fragrant wine.
And this was just a minor trick of his.
And so, he began to stroll leisurely down the street.
Once one’s Cultivation breaks through to the Divine Platform Realm, one can draw upon the Power of Heaven and Earth to sustain oneself, almost eliminating the need to consume mortal food.
However, the desires for food and pleasure are instinctual, and he had no intention of severing his appetite.
