Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

On the other end of the phone, there was a long pause before a shrill shriek, “Ahhhh, oh my god! You guys are already sleeping together after one night? What’s the rush? Have you got any condoms on you? I’m not ready to be an aunty so fast!”

She didn’t think that someone as pretentious as her brother would score a girl in bed so quickly. Call her a prude, but she wasn’t used to such liberal methods.

Luosang was jolted awake by her loud voice, “I said I was sleeping at the Tianhu Villa, who said anything about sleeping under your brother’s covers?”

This pair of siblings really drove her crazy.

“Alright, I know you’re embarrassed. You don’t have to explain yourself to me, and looking at the chemistry between you two last night, I can understand if you have to satisfy each other’s desires,” Nian Xi said after calming herself down.

Luosang was blushing now, “I had nowhere to go last night, and the hostel was closed. That’s the only reason why I’m staying here, besides, I’m sleeping by myself in the guestroom.”

“Oh I see, I misunderstood the situation,” Nian Xi said regretfully, “I thought my brother had a brilliant moment of realization and decided to go ahead with the relationship.”

The corner of Luosang’s mouth was twitching uncomfortably, “I can come over right now but you’ll have to wait for a while.”

“No worries. I’ll go over to the hostel to make a quick investigation of the witnesses’ testimonies. I’ll tell the girls involved that we found new evidence to prove that you were innocent, and that I’ll be going over their statements to iron out any creases. You have to pretend that you don’t know me when we meet later. Remember, you’re the victim and I’m just the police officer that the station sent.”

“Got it.” She knew that Nian Xi wanted to ensure her credibility.

When she walked out of her room, a table full of breakfast dishes greeted her.

Nian Junting was sitting at the edge of the table feeding meat to Xiao Si. He looked extra casual today; white sneakers, grey trousers, and a velvety red jacket. He was wearing a crisp white shirt on the inside and accessorized with a casual watch. He looked extremely fashionable.

“Mr Nian…your outfit…” Luosang stammered.

“I’ll accompany you to school today. Obviously I can’t be wearing a full business suit, so I just randomly picked a casual outfit to go with the occasion,” Nian Junting looked over at her. When he saw her surprised expression, he grinned to himself.

Sister Lan looked at him in disbelief after hearing what he just said. Randomly? He had spent the entire morning rummaging through his closet just to find a suitable outfit to send Luosang to school. The closet was in a complete mess now.

“You’re coming to school with me?” Luosang was so shocked she had forgotten to greet Sister Lan, “I think I’m good. You can just drop me at the gates.”

“I don’t trust Nian Xi alone with the case given her lack of experience and intellect. I’ll have to go and guide her along. Besides, after all that you’ve been through yesterday, I’m sure that the perpetrators won’t let you off easily. They must be spreading vicious gossip about you around the campus. Even with Nian Xi there, you’ll surely be bullied if you go back now. I’m not sure you’ll be able to cope with the judgement of everyone then,” Nian Junting shook his head.

“Yeah Sansan, let him accompany you to school,” Sister Lan added. “Oh right, Mr. Nian asked his secretary to deliver a set of clothes for you. You can wear that instead of your sleeping wear. Hurry along, I left it on the sofa for you.”

“Ok, thanks Sister Lan,” Luosang didn’t think it was good idea to wear her pajamas to school either.
