Moon Viewing Pavilion.

In a brightly lit room, a slender figure stood by the window, moonlight cascading over her.

This figure was Ji Mingyue.

She wore a plain white long dress, the hem reaching the ground, her dark hair simply left loose, cascading to her waist, without any styling.

At this moment, hearing the sound behind her, she slowly turned around.

Jiang Ning saw her calm eyes.

In the next moment, the eyes were filled with emotion, the gaze bright, her brows and eyes curved, her smile as beautiful as a flower.

The originally dull atmosphere in the room suddenly became clear with this smile.

"Brother Jiang Ning, you’re here!" Ji Mingyue said with bright eyes.

"It’s been a long time!" Jiang Ning felt a slight stir in his heart, showing a faint smile.

"It’s been a long time indeed!" Ji Mingyue walked over, hands behind her back, tiptoeing slightly, "I still seem not to have grown taller."

Hearing this, Jiang Ning chuckled, reaching up to rub her head.

"Why did you call me today?"

"No particular reason! I just missed you!" Ji Mingyue’s eyes were bright.

"Did something upset you?" Jiang Ning rubbed her head again.

Upon hearing this, Ji Mingyue’s eyes reddened slightly, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Is it about your brother?" Jiang Ning asked again.

"No!" Ji Mingyue shook her head. "It’s not!"

Soon after, the mist in her eyes quickly faded, her pupils returning to clarity.

"I just missed you, wanted you to have a drink with me!" Ji Mingyue said.

"Alright!" Jiang Ning nodded, saying no more.

In the next moment.

Ji Mingyue clapped her hands.

Outside the door, there was movement immediately.

One by one, palace maids walked in, carrying trays, on the trays were drinks, bowls, and dishes covered with lids.

As the drinks and dishes were neatly placed on the round table, lids opened, the aroma wafted through the room.

...

A moment later.

"Thank you, Brother Jiang Ning, for coming." Ji Mingyue raised the small cup in her hand.

"I was late, after all!" Jiang Ning began.

Ji Mingyue drank from the small cup in her hand in one go, a flush appearing on her face, "It’s already wonderful that you could come! I know Brother Jiang Ning hardly has any free time now."

Looking at Ji Mingyue at this moment, Jiang Ning felt a bit guilty inside.

In the next moment.

He also raised the small cup in his hand, drinking it all in one go without care.

In an instant, the liquor in his mouth turned to flames in his throat, the flames engulfing his lower abdomen, leaving his consciousness no longer clear.

...

Chirp chirp chirp—

The birds sang outside the window.

Jiang Ning slowly opened his eyes, and what he saw first was a cascade of black hair.

His gaze dropped lower, to find two people entwined without a stitch of clothing.

Scenes from the previous night flashed through his mind one by one.

He finally had a bitter smile on his lips.

He had figured it out; he was caught in Ji Mingyue’s trap last night.

Although he didn’t know what Ji Mingyue used, it was undoubtedly very potent.

After all, it was something that could make him lose control, driven by desire.

Thinking back now, he felt a bit afraid.

This powerful effect, if turned in another direction, could have caused him to completely fall and fail miserably.

At this moment.

His left hand, pinned down, naturally stretched a bit, moving slightly as if to dispel the nonexistent numbness.

But as he moved, the eyelashes of Ji Mingyue, lying in his arms, quivered slightly.

Immediately, their eyes met.

"Why go through all this!" Jiang Ning looked at Ji Mingyue, his gaze holding a bit of helplessness, his left hand naturally fondling her smooth skin.

"Afraid you’d reject me!" Ji Mingyue lowered her head, her ears slightly red.

Jiang Ning chuckled, "Between you and me, how could I ever reject you!"

"I don’t believe it. You’ve been like that with Miss Lin, yet you never came to see me again!" Ji Mingyue raised her head, looking at Jiang Ning.

"You don’t believe it, huh?" Jiang Ning suddenly flipped over.

Followed by a gasp of surprise.

...

Noon.

"You look great!" Ji Mingyue adjusted Jiang Ning’s collar and then stepped back half a step, looking him up and down, fully satisfied with Jiang Ning’s white robe.

"Remember, tell me if anything happens, come to me if there’s a problem, I’ve got this!" Jiang Ning rubbed her soft long hair, speaking.

"Got it!" Ji Mingyue smiled at Jiang Ning, her eyes filled with bright colors.

Seeing this, Jiang Ning rubbed her head again.

"Then I’m off!"

"Mm!" Ji Mingyue nodded, "I’ll see you off out of the palace!"

"No need for that!" Jiang Ning shook his head, "You’re in no condition to walk now!"

"Well... alright then!" Ji Mingyue paused, then nodded.

"I’m leaving!" Jiang Ning said goodbye again, then turned and walked out of the room.

"Prince, please come with me, I’ll see you out of the palace." The palace maid from yesterday came up immediately upon seeing Jiang Ning.

"No need, I can leave the palace on my own!" As soon as the words fell, he flickered and disappeared in front of the palace maid.

A moment later.

The palace maid entered the room.

At this moment, Ji Mingyue was sitting in front of the bronze mirror, staring absentmindedly at her reflection.

"Princess!" The palace maid approached Ji Mingyue.

"Did he leave?" Ji Mingyue spoke.

"The Prince left!" the palace maid replied.

"Then you may leave too!" Ji Mingyue spoke again, her voice void of any emotion.

"Yes, Princess!" the palace maid responded.

Then she bowed and slowly backed out of the room.

Creak—

With the turn of the door’s axle, the door closed.

At this moment, Ji Mingyue’s right hand caressed her belly.

"Will it work?" she muttered, eyes filled with some sorrow, "If it works, could this new life make my brother completely give up that idea, and bring those two back together?"

....

On the other side.

After leaving the Imperial Palace, Jiang Ning looked at the bright sky outside, feeling refreshed.
