Chapter 2445: Noble Stalker.

It is not a matter of looking good for others. He has to prove his position or his position as Emperor will be threatened by other angels of nobility.

Even if that doesn’t happen, if he fails to show that he can protect his vassal, he will stop being able to recruit vassals which will make his heritage and qualifications as an angel stagnant.

If his heritage stops growing, it will make it easy for a rank 8 noble to overtake him in terms of heritage. Once that happens, he will lose his qualifications to be an angel of nobility to that demigod noble and be demoted to rank 8.

So his position as Emperor and the power that comes with it is at stake. This is why despite how slow this attack was and how much spiritual energy it cost him to create, and how many lives and how much property would be lost if the meteor striked the city, the Emperor felt satisfied with himself and felt that every cost was worth it.

But as time went by and the seconds ticked one after the other, the emperor’s mood shifted from being smug to being angry. His mood fell just like the blazing meteor in the sky.

Eventually, sixty seconds went by, after which the meteor struck the city. There was a grand explosion that shook the earth. But this explosion didn’t cause damage to the surroundings because the meteor was just large enough to destroy the city and only the city.

Such precision would have made the Emperor proud of himself at any other time. But now, he could only scoff and leave in anger.

He didn’t really leave, though. He used his domain to hide himself and returned to stalk the crater where the city used to be.

He is 90% sure that the culprit that killed his vassal should be dead because he suspects that they are an illusionist, and illusionists are not equipped to withstand that kind of attack.

Only undying demigods can survive that attack. But an undying godclad should not be able to kill a noble.

But if it is wrong and the illusionist somehow survived or the culprit is actually an undying demigod, then he wants to be sure that they won’t be able to escape even if they survived his attack.

The worst thing that can happen right now is if the culprit survived after he made such a flashy move. So he stalked the crater for days to ensure that no one would survive to tell the world about how he failed to protect his vassal and then failed to avenge the death of his vassal.

While he was doing this, Legion had already returned to the safety of the Hydra Kingdom and was sorting out their gains in the headquarters of the Mind Hunters.

They were mostly using their newfound wealth and the help of the demigod telepath to help them acquire all the rank 9 divine flesh that they will need. They were making little progress in this pursuit because the divine flesh they wanted was just too scarce.

At their level, there are very few people like them in the whole world. For example, the number of angels in each pathway is usually less than three at a time.

The maximum number of angels in any pathway is usually limited to three. But very few godclads meet the requirements to become angels, and all of them are very strong and rarely die. This makes rank 9 divine flesh of a pathway very rare.

As for rank 8, there are usually 6 demigods of a pathway at a time. Rarely are there more than 6 because most godclads that become demigods are killed by their divine flesh after being drained of spiritual energy completely or are deprived of their divine abilities by their rebellious divine flesh, which makes them easy to be killed by others.

But despite the small number of demigods in existence, the availability of the rank 8 divine flesh is relatively high. This is because of the large turnoverrate of demigods.

Angels rarely die, so their divine flesh doesn’t circulate in the market. No amount of money can change this. But demigods die a lot, so their divine flesh is readily available.

Even if there is no rank 8 divine flesh of a pathway, as long as one is patient and decides to wait, they can get what they want. However, this is not the case for every pathway.

For instance, the divine flesh of demigod undying godclads is very rare because they rarely die. They are so stubborn to kill that the requirement to become an angel of the undying is to be one of the top three longest-living undying with a minimum of 10,000 years.

The rank 8 divine flesh of killers is also rare. This is all because of the years of crusade of the church of justice against the pathway of killing.

The church of killing took every divine piece of flesh on the pathway of killing that they could find and sealed it away. This leaves any would-be rank 8 killer with the option of robbing the church of justice or going to the spiritual dimension to hunt blood beasts.

That makes two out of four of their pathways whose rank 8 divine flesh are very difficult to acquire. They had to go to the spiritual dimension to get the rank 8 divine flesh of the pathway of killing, and now it seemed that they would have to do something like that in order to get the rank 9 divine flesh that they need.

It also seemed that they would have to do that for the rank 8 divine flesh of the pathway of undying too. They don’t want to do that yet.

They want to first try the various markets in the Mind Hunters and wait for the rank 8 divine flesh to show up. If it doesn’t show up, then they will have to go hunting for undying demigods in order to get what they want.
