Great Li Martial God
Chapter 421: The Choice
"A blind man like you wants Brother Jinchuan to come see you? Have you not looked in a mirror?"
The young man in blue robes gave a cold laugh. The blind man said nothing in reply.
But in the next instant, the elderly man's expression suddenly changed, and he immediately turned his head to look.
There, hidden behind the blue-robed young man, the man who had been cowering had his face frozen, completely lifeless, with a bloody hole that had appeared at his throat without anyone noticing.
"Be careful."
The elderly man let out a sharp shout, grabbed the blue-robed young man and the woman in red, and pulled them sharply backward, not stopping until they had retreated out of the guesthouse hall onto the street outside.
At the same time, the blind man remained perfectly composed, sitting where he was as though nothing had happened at all.
Outside, the blue-robed young man and the woman in red caught sight of the corpse of the man who had brought them there, and only then did the delayed realization hit them.
In an instant, a chill ran down both their backs.
That someone could kill, silently and without a trace, the man hiding behind them without either of them noticing at all, made it obvious that killing them too would not present much difficulty."Who exactly are you?"
The elderly man fixed the blind man with a hard stare from across the guesthouse hall's entrance, his face full of wariness.
At those words, the blind man slowly rose to his feet. His sightless eyes turned toward the three figures outside the hall, "Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is that right now you have two choices. Either bring Young Master Jinchuan here, or take me to find him."
As he said this, the blind man paused briefly, then continued at an unhurried pace, "There's one other thing. Only one of you three is going to survive. Either you choose among yourselves, or I'll choose for you."
At those words, the blue-robed young man and the woman in red were filled with terrified fury, but the elderly man raised a hand to stop them and shook his head, "Don't act rashly."
The blue-robed young man's expression cycled through several uncertain shades. Standing on the street, keeping a certain distance from the blind man, he then turned and barked an order to a group of his subordinates inside the hall, "Kill him."
At those words, the burly men were visibly hesitant, but none of them dared defy the young master's command. They steeled themselves and drew their blades, charging at the blind man.
The Yellow Spring Tribe's men, who had been surrounding Li Musheng's group's table, immediately scattered. But very soon, they began collapsing one after another like dumplings dropping into a pot, all of them with their throats pierced through and dying at the same instant.
Earlier, when the blind man had killed someone, Ah Xiu had not been able to see what he did. This time, however, she watched extremely closely, and still she could not catch even a hint of how he was striking.
This made Ah Xiu truly understand that this seemingly reckless blind man's actual strength was probably even more unfathomable than she had imagined.
At the very least, Ah Xiu now believed that if she ever faced an attack from the blind man herself, the only thing she could do would be to take it head-on.
As for whether she could actually withstand his killing strikes, she had no confidence in that whatsoever.
With that thought, Ah Xiu swept her eyes over the bodies scattered through the hall, then looked again at Li Musheng and his group beside her.
Cang Yinyue and Shen Anran, looking at the bodies covering the floor around them, both let out quiet sighs, their appetite for the meal having vanished entirely.
The large black cat, having already eaten and drunk its fill, sat with its legs together on its stool, watching the show unfold with considerable enthusiasm.
At this point, Cao Gaoshan rose to his feet, went to the back courtyard, and found the guesthouse keeper hiding in the storeroom, asking him to arrange several upper rooms for their group.
The guesthouse keeper's face was deathly pale, but he could not break free of Cao Gaoshan's iron grip and had no choice but to comply with trembling hands.
Throughout all of this, the blind man paid no attention to what Cao Gaoshan and the others were doing, and simply faced the three people standing off against him outside the hall, "Why haven't you chosen yet?"
At those words, the blue-robed young man and the woman in red both wore extremely unpleasant expressions, and looked toward the elderly man beside them, "Uncle Zheng, are you confident you can kill this blind man?"
The elderly man kept his focused, wary eyes on the blind man, hesitating for a long moment, cold sweat beading on his forehead. Yet for some reason he could not muster the courage to even attempt an attack.
"This man is no ordinary figure. We should withdraw from here for now."
In the end, the elderly man decided to do nothing and simply retreat.
With that, he grabbed both the blue-robed young man and the woman in red, keeping his eyes on the blind man's every movement while preparing to retreat at speed, putting distance between themselves and the guesthouse.
But the moment the elderly man took a single step back, the blind man in his line of sight suddenly vanished.
In the next instant, the blind man's hoarse voice sounded in the elderly man's ear, "I never said leaving was one of the options I gave you."
At those words, the elderly man's mind reeled in shock.
But just as he was about to release the blue-robed young man and the woman in red, to free his hands for an all-out confrontation with the blind man, a sidelong glance suddenly made his pupils contract sharply.
The heads of the blue-robed young man and the woman in red had slumped lifelessly without warning, with absolutely no trace of breath remaining in either of them.
Clearly, without the elderly man noticing in the slightest, the two people he had been holding had already died at the blind man's hand.
At the sight, the elderly man's nerve completely shattered. He immediately dropped the bodies of the blue-robed young man and the woman in red, and unleashed a thunderous palm strike toward the direction the blind man's voice had come from.
Then, without daring to pause for even a moment, he circulated his true qi with everything he had and fled at full speed.
But very quickly, a pained scream rang out, and the elderly man, who had been trying to flee, dropped directly out of the air. At the same time, both of his legs had been cleanly severed.
The legless elderly man crashed heavily to the ground in front of the guesthouse, landing barely a foot away from where the blind man stood.
The blind man's pale, lifeless eyes had no flicker of expression as he looked down at the elderly man on the ground.
At this moment the elderly man's face was deathly pale, his eyes filled with terror. Straining against the pain, he immediately tried to stop the bleeding from his severed legs.
Once he had done what he could, the elderly man, seeing the blind man showed no intention of taking his life, suppressed the urge to flee again and asked, "What exactly do you want?"
At those words, the blind man shook his head, "I've already told you what I want, many times over."
With that, he turned to the two remaining Yellow Spring Tribe men still in the hall and said, "Come help him up."
These two had been terrified out of their wits ever since the blind man had wiped out the room full of the blue-robed young man's subordinates, and had been sitting frozen where they were the entire time, not daring to move.
Hearing the blind man's instruction now, they stumbled to their feet, legs shaking, and walked over to the legless elderly man, each taking one side to help him stand.
"Have him take you to find Young Master Jinchuan. And while you're at it, deliver a message for me. If he doesn't have the nerve to come here, then I'll go pay the Yellow Spring Tribe a visit myself."
The blind man left these words behind, then turned and went back into the guesthouse.
