Chapter 419: Finding Someone

But faced with Cao Gaoshan's question, Ah Xiu swept her narrowed eyes over the group and shook her head, "The people of the White Tiger Divine Hall never travel anywhere outside White Emperor City, so I genuinely don't know what kind of power they actually have."

"But regardless, within White Emperor City the White Tiger Divine Hall's position is absolutely supreme. You'll understand once you get there."

With that, Ah Xiu turned her attention back to the liquor jar on the table before her, a look of lingering reluctance on her pretty face. Even so, she pushed the bowl aside and said to herself, "No more for me. Any more and I'll be drunk."

"But... this strong liquor from the Yellow Spring Market can't be found anywhere else. You should all try some. I'm going to find a room and get some sleep."

Ah Xiu gave Li Musheng's group a quick recommendation of the Yellow Spring Market's local liquor, then rose to her feet and went to find the guesthouse keeper to arrange a room.

Li Musheng made no move to stop her. The moment he had heard the name "White Tiger Divine Hall," it had crossed his mind that the hall was very likely connected to the ancient beast White Tiger.

And on this trip to White Emperor City, the ancient beast White Tiger was precisely one of his objectives. That meant a visit to the White Tiger Divine Hall was almost certainly in his future at some point, so there was no need to rush there immediately.

But just as Ah Xiu went to the counter to arrange a room, the blind man who had been sitting alone in the corner of the hall slowly rose to his feet.

He supported himself with one hand on a bamboo staff and made his way through the noisy tables, and none of the drinking, chatting patrons around him paid him any mind, until the blind man came to a stop before a table in the middle of the hall.

"You're from the Yellow Spring Tribe. Do you know someone called 'Young Master Jinchuan'?"

A hoarse voice came from the blind man's mouth, his pair of eyes, white and lifeless, fixed on the group seated at the table, as though sizing them up.

The conversation and laughter around them gradually died down. A gaunt man wearing a red headcloth at the table looked at the blind man, and the displeasure at having his good time interrupted gradually gave way to something cruel and full of disdain.

"Where'd this blind fool come from? Doesn't know when to die!"

The man in the red headcloth let out a cold laugh, slapped the table with his hand, and a wooden chopstick shot out at speed, aimed straight at the blind man's throat.

But the sightless blind man simply raised his hand and caught the flying chopstick neatly between two fingers, without effort.

The people around them showed expressions of surprise, clearly recognizing that this hideously scarred blind man carried no small amount of martial skill.

"You're asking to die."

The other men at the table with the gaunt man erupted in furious shouts and were about to move against the blind man together.

In this Yellow Spring Market, no one had ever dared willingly provoke the Yellow Spring Tribe, let alone a blind man at that.

But in the next instant, the men who had been about to strike suddenly froze in place.

From the corner of their eyes, they saw the gaunt man who had just attacked the blind man was now perfectly still.

And at his neck, a bloody hole had appeared without anyone noticing, blood pouring steadily from it, his life completely extinguished.

"Answer my question."

The blind man's hoarse voice rang out once more. He stood quietly where he was, no powerful aura radiating from him, his pale, lifeless eyes fixed on the remaining men at the table.

At the sight, the patrons around them changed expression sharply, and one by one they scrambled to their feet and scattered in panic.

The Yellow Spring Tribe dominated the entire Yellow Spring Market and carried tremendous accumulated authority. No one dared provoke them.

The blind man's audacity in killing one of their people on the Yellow Spring Tribe's own territory was equivalent to tearing open an enormous wound. The Yellow Spring Tribe would absolutely not let this slide, and none of the patrons wanted to be caught in the crossfire.

"You killed our man. You're dead..."

One of the dead gaunt man's companions cried out in shocked fury, but before he could even finish, the wooden chopstick previously pinched between the blind man's fingers pierced silently through his throat.

"I don't want to hear empty words."

The blind man's white, lifeless eyes fixed on the three remaining men at the table like a herald of death.

"Spare us, master, we'll talk..."

"The Young Master Jinchuan you're looking for is the beloved son of our Yellow Spring Tribe's Rakshasa Holy Lord."

The three men's souls flew from their bodies in terror. Faced with the blind man's question, they dared not hesitate a moment longer, falling over each other to answer first.

At those words, the blind man's scarred face showed not a ripple of emotion. He simply gave a slow nod, "Good that you know him. I'll give you half a stick of incense's time to go and bring Young Master Jinchuan here."

At those words, the three men exchanged a single glance, then without hesitation bolted toward the exit of the hall.

But of the three, only one was able to move at all. The other two sat frozen in their seats, faces filled with terror, unable to budge so much as an inch.

The blind man paid no attention to the one who had left, walked over to the remaining two at the table, and sat down beside them, "If he doesn't come back, you two will just have to take me there yourselves."

At those words, cold sweat poured down both men's faces. Neither dared refuse, and both nodded their heads like rapid hammers.

At the same time, the once nearly full hall of the guesthouse had emptied out almost entirely, only a scattered handful of customers remaining.

The guesthouse keeper and the servers had long since fled to the back courtyard, and even with the bills for food and drink left unpaid, none of them dared to intervene.

This sudden interruption naturally meant Ah Xiu had not yet managed to secure a room.

Far from being upset about it, however, when she looked toward the blind man, a flicker of delighted excitement surfaced in her eyes.

"This person is causing such a commotion that he's bound to draw the Yellow Spring Tribe's attention. That works greatly in my favor for retrieving that item."

Thoughts turned in Ah Xiu's mind. Even so, she did not rush to act immediately.

Though she could sense the blind man was no ordinary figure, exactly how many of the Yellow Spring Tribe's experts he could tie down remained to be seen.

So for now, the wise course was to wait and watch, and act at the most opportune moment.

With that thought, Ah Xiu turned to look toward where Li Musheng's group was seated, narrowing her eyes slightly.

Then Ah Xiu's figure moved, and she returned to sit at her previous seat.

"What do you make of this?"

Ah Xiu studied Li Musheng. Everyone else in the hall had fled, yet Li Musheng's group remained completely unmoved.

She couldn't tell whether this was because they were simply too skilled and bold to care, or because they had no idea how formidable the Yellow Spring Tribe, one of the Western Desert's six great powers, truly was.

But even sitting on the sidelines watching this unfold could come at the cost of one's life.

"What's there to think? Obviously we sit and watch."

Li Musheng glanced at Ah Xiu. He had already noticed earlier that the blind man's concealed killing intent ran far too deep for him to be anything other than a dangerous figure.

He simply had not expected the man would be here specifically to pick a fight with the Yellow Spring Tribe.

Of course, none of this had anything to do with Li Musheng, and he had no particular interest in it either.

The only reason he had not left was that the meal on the table was only half finished, and he was not done eating yet.
