Chapter 847 - Fire Dragon
Chapter 847: Fire Dragon
*Thud*
Qi Zao walked into her bedroom before she fell face flat on the bed. All she felt was a sense of comfort as if her entire body had been disassembled before being put together again.
“If I still work as a campus reporter, I’ll be cursed to date Back-Up 3, marry Back-Up Number 8, and marry again Back-Up Number 12!” Qi Zao swore to herself. Her neck was so sore that she did not want to move at all.
Her dormmate chuckled. “Qi Zao, wake up. You don’t have a boyfriend! And you don’t even have a back-up!”
“Ouch… I don’t even have a back-up? Life is such a pain. I can hardly breathe now…” Qi Zao casually replied, before she turned her body and kicked off her shoes. Then, she saw that her dormmates were dressed nicely. They seemed to be ready to leave.
“Where are you going, and what are you doing?” Qi Zao’s reporter-instinct started functioning again.
“Going to queue up,” her best friend answered.
“Library?” Qi Zao was slightly surprised.
Her best friend smiled without saying anything before she lowered her head and operated on her phone for a few seconds before she said, “Just forwarded it to you.”
*Buzz*
Qi Zao’s phone buzzed at the same time.
She swiped up and saw an official message from the school; it was forwarded by her best friend.
[Breaking news! Ling Ran returns!]
Qi Zao was surprised and raised her head. “Is Senior Ling back? What is he back for?”
“He’s coming to give a talk at nine in the morning tomorrow!”
“So, you’re all going to queue up for the talk? And you’re queuing up until nine in the morning tomorrow?” Qi Zao looked at the girls in disbelief.
“We’ll put a stool there first. Then, we are ready to take turns to queue up, just like how foreigners do when they buy iPhones.” Her best friend lifted the small folding stool on her hand as she spoke.
Qi Zao was totally speechless. “Are you serious?”
“I am serious if Senior Ling is real!”
“Do you really need to be like this?”
“People queue up for day and night for a concert, so it isn’t something big to queue up for a day for Senior Ling.” When her best friend said this, she asked, “Are you in?”
“I’m a little tired…” Qi Zao hesitated.
“Sisters, let’s go.” Her best friend brought the others and left when Qi Zao did not take up her offer.
Qi Zao covered her head with a pillow, and she was too lazy to even move her body. In a short while, she fell asleep deeply.
When she woke up later, she heard some sounds in the room.
‘Is there a thief?’ When Qi Zao heard the sound, she felt a stab of fear, and she immediately conjured all sorts of news for this.
“Young Zao, are you awake?” But she heard her best friend’s voice.
Qi Zao got up from her bed, then she saw her best friend crawling into her own bed in a disheveled state.
“You came back?” Qi Zao asked, then she lowered her head and looked at her phone. “It’s only 4 o’clock.”
“Yea,” her best friend answered before she went straight ahead and asked, “Do you want to go?”
“Go… go and watch Senior Ling’s lecture?”
“Yea, we’ve put a stool for you. If you want to go, just go and guard the place for a few hours. Forget it if you’re not, though.” When her best friend finished speaking, she laid on her flowery bed sheet and slept soundly while snoring.
Qi Zao stared at the pretty girl who was snoring, but she could not sleep anymore. Therefore, she decided to wake up, cleaned herself up a little, and left the house.
The night was quiet.
There were yellow, red, and white lights shining at the horizon far away.
Yun Hua University was the most famous university in Changxi Province, and the School of Medicine itself already had 0.2 square miles in terms of surface area. Together with a few girls from the same dorm, Qi Zao held the torchlight she bought from the retail shop while walking quickly toward the hall.
When they reached the entrance, they saw two bright roads extending toward them from a higher spot ahead of them. One of them was short, and the people queueing there were people heading to the library. The long one was the queue made of people going to the hall.
“There are still people queuing up for the library at this hour?” Qi Zao cast a glance at the place, and she felt slightly surprised.
“There are still guys who look ugly yet are still feel envious of Senior Ling’s talent,” a girl next to her said in disdain.
Qi Zao laughed when she heard this.” They might also love learning and might be working to take the Unified National Graduate Entrance Examination.”
“I’m talking about those people,” the girl answered without any hesitation.
Qi Zao became speechless.
..…
Those few hours passed by just like that as the girls sat through it in the queue quietly.
When daylight came, a motorcade of black cars drove over. The long queue of people became restless again. They took out their phones and informed the owners of the small folding stools.
When the door of the hall opened, the students instantly rushed in like the tide.
The staff at the door initially wanted to limit the number of participants, but they failed to do so. In a while, the hall was crowded like the subway.
At nine o’clock in the morning, Ling Ran and his group appeared on the rostrum on time.
Dean Wu Junior was the first person who got on the stage. He said with great emotion, “Fellow students…”
“Shh…”
The students tried to express their emotions by taking advantage of the fact that they were in the crowd.
Dean Wu Junior did not change his smile. He changed the topic of conversation. “Next, please welcome our alumni, Ling Ran, who has become a famous hepatectomy expert in the country in just three years.”
Dean Wu Junior gave away his place as he spoke. He had been in a good mood over the past few days. Aside from the fact that his father, Dean Wu Senior’s surgery was extremely successful, the early stage lesion excision was done cleanly, and the damage to the liver was not big. Being able to be discharged from the ICU two days after the surgery and getting down the bed after five days was considered a very good prognosis.
Although he was still far away from reaching the standards where he could be discharged, based on the standards of an old man at eighty years old, regardless of what surgery they received, reaching this level after a week was already something that was worthy of anyone to thank their lucky stars.
While he was under the stage, Ling Ran shook his suit a little before he stood on the rostrum.
The students who were making a fuss during the chaos stopped in their daze in an instant, like their throats were stuffed with something.
Ling Ran’s suit was custom made by Zegna, and the cloth was something his mother bought from Zegna as well. Its specialty would probably be that it gave the person wearing it a confident and handsome appearance.
For the university students who just stepped into the society and were curious and hopeful about their careers, a suit like this, Ling Ran, and the hall of Yun Hua University were all things they aspired to have, to be, and to remain.
*Gulp*
Some students gulped, but since there were a lot of them, the sound was loud when all of it overlapped with each other.
Some students laughed out loud.
However, there were a whole lot more people who stared at the stage dumbly or took out their phones to capture Ling Ran’s image as he stood tall on the rostrum.
Ling Ran stood on the rostrum, but he did not immediately speak. He eyed his surroundings, just like the others.
For him, being able to come back to Yun Hua University to give a talk because of his medical skills was also one of his dreams.
Naturally, Ling Ran had gotten on the rostrum multiple times. When he was still in school, he did not have the talent to study, which was why he could only score among the top three, sometimes the top five. However, universities were not barbaric places where the winner seizes all opportunities. That was why the people who were ranked only at the third or fourth place could also have the chance to get on the rostrum.
Other than getting on the rostrum for academic purposes, Ling Ran was also offered to join events where he could get on stage by relying on his face, body figure, and votes, and he obtained even more chances to get on stage for those events compared to the ones for academic purposes. But he rarely participated in those. However, when he calculated all the times he had to go up the rostrum because he was forced to, then the number of times he had to go on the rostrum was not few.
The hall did not change much compared to the time when Ling Ran was still in university.
No difference could be seen from the walls, tables, and chairs. The floor and rostrum also looked no different, and even the girls sitting at the front row were still showing their long and fair legs.
“Hello, everyone.” Ling Ran’s height was much taller than Dean Wu Junior. He took over the microphone and said, “The class today is mainly for the subsequent lectures. So, I will focus mainly on medically specialized knowledge in my lecture today—”
“Senior, you’re going to give us lectures?”
“Am I going mad? We can’t be this lucky, can we?”
“Pick the class!” A shout made everyone take out their phones.
Ling Rang calmly looked at the bottom of the stage, and he handled the situation with great familiarity by saying, “The course registration system has not added my lectures into the system yet. According to university rules, I need to have three trial classes first. Considering the fact that the course registration system is imperfect because it implemented the ‘first-come-first-serve’ method, after my discussion with Dean Wu Junior, we decided to decide on the name list of the students who will officially join this lecture judging by your performance and after you take a test once I give three lectures. Those who didn’t get in will have to enter other courses in the elective class.”
People under the stage raised their hands, and they were all students who decided to perform well.
Dean Wu Junior happily looked at the situation under the stage, then he sighed to the teacher next to him. “How good would it be if the students behave so proactively like this in all subjects?”
The old professor by his side chuckled. “The students must be thinking the same thing too.”
“Huh?”
“It would be so good if the teachers in all subjects look like Ling Ran.” The old professor touched his non-existing beard while he praised his cleverness and his handsomeness.
