Chapter 499: Chapter 345: Joining Forces

The man mulled it over for a moment before giving the order.

"Initiate Plan A. The moment they enter the designated area, saturate it with firepower."

"Understood!" a battlefield commander’s voice replied over the comms.

Just then, the drone feed showed that Song Ling’Er had vanished. Meanwhile, Wu Liangchen and Sword One had stepped onto the main road. Making no attempt to hide, they were brazenly walking straight toward Black Stone Town.

"Holy shit, how much nerve do those two have? They’re planning to just brute-force their way in," someone exclaimed in astonishment.

"I’ve got to admit, this Wu Liangchen has some guts. I thought he’d either avoid Black Stone Town or try to sneak in. But to just charge in head-on... impressive!" Although the words were complimentary, the speaker’s tone was dripping with sarcasm.

After all, in their eyes, Wu Liangchen and this blind man who had appeared out of nowhere were as good as dead.

At the entrance to Black Stone Town, the checkpoint that should have been inspecting passing vehicles and pedestrians was now deserted. Only the cold, automated machine-gun turrets and the heavy emplacements hidden behind cover emanated a chilling killing intent.

Wu Liangchen and Sword One walked along the empty main road, striding toward the town’s entrance at a steady, unhurried pace. It was as if they weren’t storming a lion’s den, but were here for a leisurely tour.

The moment they stepped into the designated area, the prepositioned weapons opened fire without needing a command.

Muzzle flashes erupted from behind the barricades on either side of the entrance and from the high ground of nearby buildings!

WHIZ! WHIZ! WHIZ—!

A dense storm of metal, accompanied by an ear-splitting shriek, rained down upon the pair.

At the same time, several small rockets, trailing flames, came screaming toward them!

Wu Liangchen and Sword One moved at almost the exact same moment!

Instead of retreating, Wu Liangchen advanced. He stomped down hard, cracking the alloy pavement, and launched himself like a cannonball straight into the hail of bullets!

He didn’t even draw his sword. He just swung his fists, and a torrent of Qi and Blood erupted from his body, forming an invisible barrier of Gang Qi. Combined with the power of the Root of Magic, it instantly knocked away or deflected the vast majority of the bullets!

The few bullets that slipped through struck his body with nothing more than dull pings and clangs, unable to even pierce his skin!

As for the screaming rockets, Wu Liangchen’s gaze hardened. He snatched a discarded metal sign from the side of the road, infused it with his Qi and Blood, and hurled it with immense force!

BOOM! BOOM!

The metal sign, though thrown second, arrived first. It precisely struck two of the rockets, triggering a massive mid-air explosion that sent fire and shockwaves expanding in all directions.

Meanwhile, Sword One’s figure had become a blurred afterimage. He lacked Wu Liangchen’s domineering, head-on approach, but he was far more ghostly, far more lethal.

He weaved through the dense hail of bullets with an ethereal gait, as if taking a leisurely stroll through a garden. Not a single bullet so much as grazed his clothes.

At some point, the longsword in his hand had been unsheathed. Its gleam was like quicksilver flowing across the ground—pervasive and inescapable.

SHINK! SHINK! SHINK!

Each flash of the blade was accompanied by the grating screech of metal being sliced apart.

Before the automated machine-gun turrets hidden behind the barricades could unleash more firepower, their barrels, ammunition feeds, and even entire turrets were split open by impossibly precise Sword Qi, collapsing into piles of sparking scrap!

His sword moved too fast for the naked eye to follow, and every strike hit a vital spot.

The rebel soldiers hiding behind cover never even saw how their enemy got close. They just felt a chill on their necks before their consciousness sank into eternal darkness.

Meanwhile, from the tall grass in the distance, bullets that seemed to have a mind of their own precisely found their way into the foreheads and chests of enemies attempting to man heavy weapons or launch sneak attacks from the shadows.

Song Ling’Er’s covering fire took some of the pressure off Wu Liangchen and Sword One. She was particularly effective at eliminating deeply concealed sniper nests before they could become a threat.

The conference room suddenly fell silent, leaving only the suffocating scene of slaughter playing out on the monitor.

Everyone who had been smiling moments before had shut their mouths. Their faces were now ashen, filled with a mixture of disbelief and horror.

"This... How is this possible?! Our kill zone... How could it..." someone stammered, their voice trembling.

"That blind man... He’s a monster! They’re monsters!"

"Quick! Initiate Plan B! Use the high-energy pulse cannon! Get a lock on them! Blast them to hell!" the tall man suddenly roared, veins bulging on his forehead.

However, just as he gave the order, the blips on the screen representing Wu Liangchen and Sword One had already broken through the first line of defense at an astonishing speed. They were now pushing toward the center of town, and any resistance they met along the way crumbled at the moment of contact.

An absolute rout.

This was no longer a battle. It was a one-sided massacre!

The tall man watched as the red dots representing his units winked out one after another on the screen. A cold chill shot up from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.

He realized he had gravely underestimated Wu Liangchen. He’d never imagined that the unassuming blind man would turn out to be such a terrifying entity.

"Re... Retreat! Order all units to abandon Black Stone Town and evacuate immediately!" the tall man practically screamed, his voice laced with undeniable terror.

"Boss, what about Wu Liangchen...?" someone next to him asked urgently.

"To hell with Wu Liangchen!" The tall man slammed his fist on the console, making the screen shudder violently.

"He’s out of our league! Encrypt all of his data immediately, along with the combat footage from just now, and send it to Zhongjing! Tell them the traitor Alina colluded with powerful outside forces to slaughter innocents, and the location is Black Stone Town! Let those bigwigs in Zhongjing deal with this headache!"
