Chapter 360: Chapter 271: A Mighty Army Avoids the One in White
Wu Liangchen was somewhat surprised as he watched the man scream, blood gushing from him like a fountain.
’First of all, he’s a Grandmaster Realm Martial Artist. Surely he wouldn’t be this fragile from just a small wound.’
’And besides, while my blade did cut him, it was only a superficial wound. Why would it cause him to bleed so profusely?’
But these doubts and surprises vanished in an instant. Wu Liangchen understood the principle of kicking a man while he’s down better than anyone, so he raised his blade and gave chase.
Soon, he noticed something was wrong.
The man’s aura was plummeting rapidly.
Not only that, but his movements became staggered, and his speed slowed dramatically.
"Quick, get me human blood! Aaaah!" the man shrieked hysterically before bolting toward the market street below.
’Something is definitely wrong.’
A cold light entered Wu Liangchen’s eyes.
He finally understood why the man reeked of such a malevolent aura.
It turned out he was using some kind of Secret Technique, relying on human blood to maintain his current state.
And this Secret Technique had a major flaw: its user couldn’t sustain too many superficial wounds.
Otherwise, once the uncontrollable bleeding started, not only would his power fade, but his very life would be at risk.
It had to be said, Wu Liangchen’s current intuition for the martial path was terrifyingly sharp.
His guesses were almost entirely correct.
The man was indeed relying on human blood to maintain his condition. His actual age was far greater than his appearance suggested. His strength hadn’t truly entered the Fourth Realm; he was merely a Minor Fourth Realm practitioner, stuck before the final threshold.
But by relying on this incredibly bloody and cruel Secret Technique, he had managed to maintain the vitality of a middle-aged man into his dotage, possessing a power no weaker than a Fourth Realm Grandmaster.
The price was the daily consumption of all the blood from a vibrant, healthy young person.
Of course, if it was the blood of a Martial Artist, that would be even better.
And this requirement was the foundation of his cooperation with the royal family of the East Sea nation.
The East Sea royal family provided him with a young person every day, in addition to keeping him well-stocked with all other supplies.
In return, he only needed to ensure the royal family’s safety at critical moments.
But unexpectedly, he had failed to even meet this condition and was now suffering from uncontrollable bleeding from a single slash by Wu Liangchen.
At this moment, he could even feel his skin wrinkling and his vision blurring.
But what terrified him most was the ceaseless draining of his life force.
Once the hemorrhaging began, it was irreversible unless he received a timely transfusion of fresh blood.
This was why he was rushing desperately toward the bustling downtown area.
Although draining a person’s blood in public was horrifying, at such a critical moment, he couldn’t afford to care.
But just as he reached the entrance to the busy street, his vision suddenly blurred, and then Wu Liangchen appeared before him.
He now looked like a completely different person. His face was covered in wrinkles and age spots, and his hair had turned gray, as if he had aged decades in an instant.
He struggled to lift his drooping eyelids and looked at Wu Liangchen with a face full of despair, begging for mercy in a low voice.
"I know I was wrong. I beg you, spare me. I swear I will never oppose you again. In fact, wherever you are, I will automatically keep a wide berth."
Of course, Wu Liangchen was unmoved by these empty words. He just watched the man, who was continuously bleeding and aging, and slowly raised his blade.
"No..."
Before he could finish his plea, the blade flashed down. A head flew into the air, landed on a family’s roof ridge, and then tumbled to the ground with a few thuds, kicking up a small cloud of dust.
The pedestrians on the street were all stunned.
All they saw was an incredibly ugly old man suddenly appear at the street corner, only to be blocked by a young man who then cut off his head with a single slash.
The whole process was extremely fast.
So fast that before many people could even react, the head was already on the ground.
The scene was like someone had pressed the pause button on the bustling, lively street. Despite the crowd, there was dead silence.
Wu Liangchen waited until the blood had mostly finished spurting from the neck, then stepped forward to steady the teetering torso and began to search it with practiced ease.
"Huh...!" Wu Liangchen raised an eyebrow slightly.
He had thought this would be another fruitless search. After all, he’d looted so many corpses with very little to show for it.
But unexpectedly, he felt a bulging pouch at the man’s waist.
’What an unexpected surprise.’
With that thought, Wu Liangchen pocketed the pouch, glanced at the dumbfounded pedestrians below, and turned to leave.
THUD.
The moment he left, the corpse fell to the ground, snapping the pedestrians out of their stupor.
"What’s going on?"
"Murder!"
"Quick, call the authorities!"
Shouts and cries erupted all at once.
But none of that had anything to do with Wu Liangchen. By now, he had already returned to the imperial palace.
Surprisingly, Graham and the others hadn’t left. Instead, they had obediently remained where they were, waiting.
When he saw Wu Liangchen return alone, Graham’s heart trembled. He knew the other man had most likely met a grim fate.
At this thought, his scalp tingled with fear.
After all, he had witnessed the previous battle with his own eyes, so he had a much fuller understanding of Wu Liangchen’s power.
So, the moment Wu Liangchen landed, Graham immediately hurried over, a fawning smile plastered on his face. "Sir, what are your orders?"
Graham was well aware that since Wu Liangchen had only shot the handguns from their grasp instead of killing them, it must mean he had some business with them.
