Chapter 1986: Bargaining Chip

Chapter 1986: Bargaining Chip

Crystal City

Half an hour later,

I appeared outside with the zero puppet. I sent the zero puppet away to collect information. I wanted to know whether the Forbidden Wizard Remi had left or not.

The zero puppet turned into a red smoke form. It then left through the window.

[Ding! Magic Lord detected]

The system voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, I left the room and went to open the main door.

I reached the main door and opened it. The next second, I saw Elder Blake and other officials outside.

Elder Blake and the officials were stunned. They didn’t expect to see Wizard Vincent here. They had thought Vincent had left the place.

"Wizard Vincent, it’s nice to see you again," Blake said to me.

"Elder, it’s good to see you as well. Come inside," I greeted them, inviting them in.

Elder Blake and the officials walked into the room.

"Wizard Vincent, to be honest, I’m surprised," Elder Blake said.

"The Forbidden Wizard Remi broke into the shop and looted some items. I have come here to guard the place. I apologize for not doing it earlier," Blake used this opportunity to apologize.

He didn’t want to offend Supreme Wizard Vincent and the Silver Tower behind him.

"Don’t mention it. No one can stop the Forbidden Wizard if he wants to do something. You guys can go back. I will handle the rest of the problem," I said to them.

I didn’t need their help right now.

Elder Blake nodded his head. He knew it was a rivalry between the towers. He decided not to get involved in it.

Then he left the place with the officials. I decided to enter the shop the next morning. Then everyone would think I had just returned.

The next morning,

I left the room and went to the shop floor. I saw that some items were gone.

I went to the office room and checked the footage. The activities of the Forbidden Wizard Remi came into view.

Seeing that he had looted some items before leaving, my mouth curved into an arc. I called Manager Lara and learned that she was going to be here in a few minutes.

I decided to give the footage to her. Then I turned off the hidden cameras and cancelled the live streaming.

I thought it was enough to let others know that I was back.

Meanwhile,

The online users saw the sudden cutoff of the live streaming. It had been ended by the owner.

People understood that it was Supreme Wizard Vincent who had returned, not Appraiser Frank. But they knew that the real owner of the shop was Wizard Vincent.

They were happy that he had returned. The shop was safe now or at least, that’s what most of them thought. Then I called the staff members one after another and told them to return.

A few minutes later,

Manager Lara entered the shop. I greeted her inside. Lara looked around and found that no one else was inside.

"Where is your staff?" Lara asked.

"I sent them to do some errands," I said.

Lara sat on the sofa. She then placed a storage bracelet on the table. Seeing that, I raised my eyebrows.

"This is your reward: 10 million super-grade mana stones. There is also a treasure to increase comprehension. I heard it was collected from an outer-space creature known for having powerful comprehension," Lara said.

"What?" I uttered in disbelief.

At that, Manager Lara smiled. She had expected that reaction. She then said, "Lord Charlotte said that it was given by Elder Dana. She needed those opal magic gemstones."

"And you have collected more than enough. It was her personal reward. With that, your journey toward becoming a Magic Lord will be smooth," she added with a smile.

My heart stirred. I knew that the mission had something to do with the Mage Union, but I didn’t expect Elder Dana to be involved.

Then I thought of something important.

"Manager Lara, can you tell me where the gemstones were used?" I asked.

"I heard from Lord Charlotte that they were used recently for Magic Tech research. But they have another use: opal gemstones play a role in sealing magic."

"Certain magic spells need magic materials to work," she added.

On the other hand, the doubts in my heart were cleared. I had been wondering who sealed the ancient monster in that forest. It appeared that so many gemstones were used there.

But I didn’t know how the Mage Union knew about the sealed monster. I shook my head.

Then I thanked her before storing the storage bracelet into my own.

"Manager Lara, I need your help," I said to her.

Hearing that, Lara raised her eyebrows and observed my reaction.

"Is there something serious?" she asked back.

"Someone broke into my shop at midnight and looted some stuff." After saying that, I showed her the device.

Lara accepted the device and played the footage. She saw someone walk into the room and turn on the lights in the video, and then his face became clear.

Her pupils shrunk. She recognized the face.

"What is he doing here?" she asked.

"He may have wanted to attack me. Since I was not here, he decided to just loot instead," I replied.

"I cannot make the decision. I’ll tell Lord Charlotte. Maybe we can use this as a bargaining chip against the Black Tower," she said.

"Okay," I replied.

"So, when are you leaving for the mission? Our Silver Tower has not been in the limelight. Only Holden Barrett seems to be gaining some momentum, but he is from the neutral faction," Lara said.

"Holden Barrett," I said.

I recalled the person who paid a visit during the shop’s opening day.

"Do you remember him?" she asked.

"He did come here during the shop’s opening day. I didn’t expect him to find something so soon," I said.

"He is a powerful wizard, and the family behind him is powerful as well. They will aid him during the mission. You are the only one without support," she said.

Hearing that, I smiled and said, "I don’t need outside help for the mission. As long as you guys shield me from guys like the Forbidden Wizard Remi, it’s enough."

"I will tell Lord Charlotte right away," she said.
