Chapter 1772: Part 2: The event day
From MC Perspective
I was going over the final arrangements. I don’t want any mishap to happen here.
The time for the function arrived. Manager Lara was the first to arrive with her friends. She gave them a quick introduction.
Among them, I saw someone familiar. The person was none other than the jewelry shop owner, Hana.
She was one of Manager Lara’s friends. I had met her before in my real identity; at that time, I had even sold a crystal gem to her.
“So, you are Frank. It’s nice to see you. My name is Hana. I’m Lara’s friend. I own a jewelry shop in the magic city. If you ever need help selling jewelry items, you can contact me,” she said with a smile.
She then handed her business card to me. I accepted the card before putting it inside my storage bracelet.
Manager Lara found it amusing. She didn’t know what kind of reaction Hana would have if she ever learned the truth.
After Hana, the other friends started introducing themselves.
I began speaking with them, introducing myself using my false name. Her friends were eager to know more about my appraisal skills.
At the same time, Lara started roaming around the room. Her gaze fell on the people inside.
She assumed they were staff hired by Vincent Carey, but as she saw through their strength, her eyes flashed with surprise.
She didn’t expect Vincent Carey to hire Supreme Wizards. Her gaze paused on the old man; she sensed mana coming from him similar to that of a Magic Lord.
Her expression grew serious as she confirmed it.
She didn’t know what promise Vincent had made to convince all these people, including a Magic Lord to join him, but she didn’t want to probe further.
She shifted her gaze, but received another surprise. She found two monsters. One was a rare vine-type monster that was already 10th order.
She was left speechless. She knew how hard it was to subdue monsters, especially those with high bloodline power.
Only those with high bloodline power can break the limit of the 9th order to reach the 10th.
She knew that among monsters, plant-type 10th order monsters are rare because they have longer lifespans and some possess healing attributes.
She was stunned to find that Vincent had such monsters with him. She also saw the sky salamander.
It was not a 10th order monster yet, but if its bloodline improved, it would have a chance to become one.
She assumed the staff were hired, but the monsters had been subdued by Vincent himself.
On the other hand, Patrick, Otto, Hank, Rock, and the two monsters remained vigilant.
They had heard of Manager Lara from Master Vincent and knew of her strength.
By the time her friends ended their chat with me, they turned toward Manager Lara and started talking to her.
“Where is the showroom?” Manager Lara asked.
Hearing that, I led them toward the appraisal room. Manager Lara and her friends followed me inside.
The room was wide and spacious, filled with collections stored inside glass containers. As Manager Lara and the others saw the collection, a small gasp of exclamation occurred.
Her friends were surprised; they immediately went to the displays and began to observe the items.
Lara turned toward me and asked, “When did you get these items?”
She could tell these collections were not ordinary. She recognized some of the broken magic artifacts from the old era.
“I got them through trade and spoils,” I replied.
“When you told me about the business, I thought you just needed an alternate identity to operate in the magic city. I never expected you to be so serious about it,” Lara said in a calm tone.
“I needed a source of income. Maybe I can develop this small business into a big one in the future,” I replied.
Lara nodded. She could understand Vincent Carey’s plans.
Time passed, and the guests started coming in. I went to greet them one by one. These people were from the local forces.
I greeted them with a warm smile and started taking them to the gallery room.
When the guests saw Manager Lara and her friends, they went over to talk to her. I wasn’t offended; instead, I used the opportunity to meet other guests.
More guests arrived, including people from the Wizard Association.
They were represented by Manager James, who came forward carrying a huge gift. I received the gift before handing it over to Hank, who was nearby to assist me.
“Wizard Frank, it’s a surprise to learn that you are an appraiser. We didn’t speak much with each other earlier,” James said with a smile.
Hearing that, I sneered internally, but I maintained a polite expression outwardly.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m going to be living here, so we have plenty of time ahead,” I replied.
James sighed in relief. He had been worried that I was still carrying a grudge.
Seeing that I didn’t take it seriously, he was glad. Now his Association colleagues could interact with Frank.
I nodded to James and his colleagues before going to greet other guests. Like the others, Manager James entered the gallery room with his friends.
He saw that the entire room was filled with magic collections. He no longer doubted Wizard Frank’s identity.
He could already see the value of the items here; each could go for a huge sum at auction.
He wasn’t the only one thinking that the other guests thought so as well. No one would ever doubt my identity as an appraiser again.
Some of the guests were interested in buying the items, especially the wizards who found suitable artifacts. Though the artifacts were broken, they could be used for study.
Artifacts from the old eras contained much more information than modern magic tech, which lacks such in-depth knowledge.
Yet for others, they were just decorative items, of no use to their specific magic. They were not going to buy it.
