Chapter 1769 1769: Part 1: Invitation
From MC Perspective
Crystal community,
I had arranged everything for the shop opening, but the opening day was not yet finalized.
I needed to discuss it with Manager Lara. Just the news about the appraisal shop had already drawn a lot of attention.
My identity as the appraiser had turned many hostile gazes into friendly ones. In particular, the various shop owners near the Crystal community had learned about who I was.
Most importantly, the old woman from earlier was more eager than ever to know about me. Even the pet shop manager started giving me discounts on products. I would have to invite them as well.
I took out my device and started going through the digital calendar. I could have picked any date, but I decided to start the business on the first day of next month.
With only a couple of days left, I phoned Manager Lara.
When she answered, I told her my dilemma. Lara was actually about to talk to me about this matter, but he had managed to call her first.
She said, “It’s good that you called. Since the shop is going to be a legitimate business, you have to print invitations for the V.I.P.s who are coming.”
“Invitations?” I uttered. I hadn’t thought about that yet.
Lara was surprised. She didn’t expect Vincent to have overlooked this. “A few people have contacted me for invitations already. If you don’t mind, I will handle the arrangements. Just pick a date first,” Lara said.
I was more than happy that she was ready to help. “Okay, but I haven’t decided on the date yet. Can you choose a suitable date as well?” I asked.
“What? You haven’t decided on a date yet? Don’t you know how many people want to visit your shop?” After saying that, she told me about her interactions with Jason Nicholson and others.
She also mentioned Holden Barrett. He wanted to meet in person. Apart from her, he was the only person who knew about my return.
However, Holden didn’t know that Frank and Vincent Carey were the same person.
I frowned. I had almost forgotten. Supreme Wizard Holden was no ordinary person; he had a formidable background behind him. I needed to be careful with him.
After some bickering, Lara decided on the date herself. She wasn’t going to let Vincent Carey mess this up.
If his identity were leaked now, even she wouldn’t be able to protect him. She could only hope for the two Forbidden Wizards to return.
To them, this matter would be a small issue. If they were back, no one would be able to touch him even if his identity were exposed.
Not long after we ended the call, I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. I did the right thing by calling her.
Her help was going to be vital. Then, I spoke to the other members about this development. They were all looking forward to the day the shop would open.
Time went by.
The invitations were printed and sent to the important people. The task was carried out by Manager Lara and me.
She dealt with the people outside Crystal City, while I used the help of Otto and Patrick to deliver invitations to the nearby shops and neighborhoods.
Both of them were technically “old monsters” and knew exactly how to deal with people.
I held Hank and Rock back. Hank lacked experience, and old man Rock was my trump card. Both monsters were going to be the guardians against outsiders. To me, they were part of the team.
That night, I left the building and went into the neighborhood to invite Rebecca Ethan and her parents.
I had never met her parents before; every time I came to see them, I found their home locked. I didn’t know if anyone was ever present during the night.
Soon, I reached her house. Just as I was wondering if she was home, I saw the lights turn on in her room.
I arrived in front of the gate and called her. Shortly afterward, the door opened and Rebecca Ethan walked out.
Upon seeing her, I waved. When she saw it was Frank, she quickly opened the main gate.
“Frank, I didn’t expect you to come,” she said, ushering me inside.
I arrived in the living room, but I saw no one else. “What about your parents? Don’t tell me they’re busy again?” I asked.
Rebecca’s eyes flashed with sadness. “Yes, they are busy. But I can video call them whenever I want. Sit down,” she said.
I sat on the sofa and looked at her. Rebecca smiled as she sat opposite me. “So, what is it? You’ve been so busy with the shop opening lately, you wouldn’t come here without a reason.”
Hearing that, I smiled and took out a purple invitation card, handing it to her. Rebecca was surprised as she accepted it. She immediately opened the card and began to read.
Her eyes gleamed. She hadn’t expected the opening date to be set yet, and she understood my purpose. “I will come for sure,” she said.
“It would be best if you brought your parents along,” I told her.
“Your identity as an appraiser is a big deal, and you’re connected to Manager Lara. My parents will definitely come,” she said confidently.
We spoke about a few other things before I left her residence and started walking back home.
[Ding! Warning!]
[Someone is spying on the host.]
The system voice rang in my mind. I paused. It had been a long time since I heard this warning. No one dared to do this inside the Crystal community. So, who could it be?
A hint of doubt appeared in my eyes. I didn’t react; I simply continued to walk forward.
As the seconds go by, the system warning continues to sound in my mind. I have a bad feeling about this warning.
The unknown person was so bold that he didn’t hide his actions so far.
