Otto decided to tell me everything without hiding anything.
“Master, I overheard something incredible. The person you spoke of was imprisoned in a cell within the City Lord’s building.”
“But I didn’t hear anything about the Forbidden Wizards,” he added.
Hearing that, my eyes gleamed with a twinkle. If Manager Lara was locked up in the City Lord’s cell, it meant that Forbidden Wizard Remi had connections with the City Lord.
I took Otto back inside the Gregor Mansion before coming out.
Shortly afterwards,
The staff arrived with the menu. I ordered a simple drink. It took ten minutes for the staff to bring it out.
When the staff left, I picked up the cup to drink.
[Ding! Warning!]
[The drink has been mixed with a terrible poison.]
The system’s voice sounded in my mind. Hearing that, my expression turned serious. Who was targeting me? The image of the Restaurant Manager came to mind.
I had only just sent Otto back, and now I needed his help again. However, I didn’t bring him out. I was going to face this one alone.
I poured the drink into an empty bottle and stored it inside the system space. The poison would be helpful in the future.
A few minutes later,
I left the room and went downstairs. I didn’t look at anyone as I casually strode out of the shop. I left the area and began taking a stroll.
Meanwhile,
The Restaurant Manager’s eyes flashed with a glint. He informed his higher-ups that he had finished the mission successfully.
“He… he… he… I didn’t expect such a big fish to appear through the wandering wizard line,” he muttered.
Time goes by,
The city was massive. Right now, I am at the public square. There are all kinds of shops here.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to explore. I needed to rescue Manager Lara from the prison cell.

[Unknown people are stalking the host.]
The system voice sounded in my mind. Hearing this, I raised my eyebrows, though I showed no outward emotion.
I continued to look around the public square. I didn’t know where these people were from. Could they have been sent by Forbidden Wizard Remi? I was sure I had hidden my identity well.
I decided to use Otto’s help after all. I looked around until I found a clothing store.
A few minutes later,
I walked inside the shop. The manager and staff immediately greeted me. My gaze fell on a suit, an overcoat, and a hat.
I picked out the clothes and entered the trial room. The manager and staff were happy; the manager knew his customer was a Supreme Wizard. They were thrilled to have such a big customer entering the shop.
At the same time, several suspicious figures in disguise appeared outside. They were the Restaurant Manager’s men. Seeing the target enter the clothing store, they informed their higher-ups.
Shortly afterwards,
An old man appeared before them. He listened to the report from his men. He was a Supreme Wizard as well.
Dust City is a mixed place where both Dark and White Wizards live. Dark Wizards often capture wandering wizards for their magic practice. Now that they knew a Supreme Wizard had arrived, they weren’t going to miss this opportunity.
The old man looked at the clothing store. He didn’t know whether the masked Supreme Wizard had discovered them yet. He ordered his men not to follow too closely. After giving the orders, he left the scene.
Inside the clothing store,
I brought Otto out and asked him to use his magic. Otto discovered that people from the Dark Faction were targeting me. They usually target wandering wizards for evil magic. Hearing that, my mouth twitched.
I sent him back to the Gregor Mansion.
After that, I put on a new set of clothes. They were all black. The hat and overcoat, combined with my face mask, made my appearance seem much more mysterious.
I walked out of the store, casually glanced around, and found no one nearby.
Using the system function, I discovered they were watching from far away.
I gathered my thoughts and bought a few more sets of clothes in black and dark blue. After paying with the mana stones, I walked out.
Since they were going to follow me anyway, I continued to stroll around the city.
Time goes by,
After looking around the city, I came to the City Lord’s office. The City Lord’s mansion was a huge building.
There were wizards on patrol; each one was a strong Level-9 Wizard.
To think that Level-9 wizards were doing mere patrol duty here, it showed that this was a city with one of the strongest defenses. Their leaders must be Supreme Wizards.
Otto said he didn’t sense Forbidden Wizard Remi. I doubted Remi would leave the city without seeing me. I used the system function to scan the mansion.

[The presence of Magic Lords and Forbidden Wizards has been detected.]
The system voice sounded in my mind. My heart skipped a beat. I withdrew my gaze and walked toward a hotel.
I entered and went to the registration desk. After paying the fee, I got my key.
A few minutes later,
I reached the room and entered. As usual, I used the system to scan the place. Finding nothing wrong, I began to rest.
Meanwhile,
Several figures appeared outside the hotel. They were from the same force as the Restaurant Manager.
They had been keeping an eye on the masked Supreme Wizard and immediately informed the old man that their target had entered the hotel.
If they stormed the hotel with their men, they could capture him. But for that, the old man needed to be present.
It didn’t take long for the old man to arrive, but his expression was grim. The hotel was far too close to the City Lord’s mansion.
If they alerted the city lord, then it could cause problems to their organisation.
