Chapter 1638 1638: Easy entry
Falling Star City
Lord Erwin was casually walking down the street, heading toward the auction house. As he walked, he listened to the conversations of the people around him.
Everyone was talking about the city auction. They discussed the powerful figures who had come to the city, including various Magic Lords and Supreme Wizards.
Erwin continued listening to the crowd.
Soon, he arrived at the city auction house. Instead of approaching the entrance immediately, he decided to look around the perimeter of the building first.
He wanted to locate the Sealing Artifact. Erwin didn’t want to alert anyone; if he released his Forbidden Wizard mana, the Sutton Family wizards might detect it.
He still didn’t know how many people from the Sutton Family had arrived.
After walking around the auction building, he came to the front entrance.
At this point, no one found him suspicious because the street was already busy, with people everywhere.
Suddenly, Erwin’s eyes flickered. He had already found a suspicious spot located in the middle of the building.
“So, the Magic Artifact is there,” Erwin thought.
In order to remove the Artifact, he needed to enter the auction house first. His eyes flashed with a gleam.
Erwin walked up to the door. Two guards standing outside stepped forward to block him.
“Who are you?”
“The auction is in progress. We cannot let you enter.”
The two guards spoke one after another.
Erwin smiled and said, “I am a Magic Lord. I have come here to protect my Young Master.”
Hearing this, the guards were shocked. They were Level-9 Wizards, but in front of this middle-aged man, they felt a mountain of pressure bearing down on them.
They could tell that the man was not lying. However, the City Lord had ordered them not to allow anyone else inside.
The guards exchanged looks. Finally, one of them said, “I will go and get permission from the City Lord.”
The guard went inside while Erwin waited.
City Lord Dorian was in the manager’s room. He was not with Young Master Hale; due to a mistake he made earlier, he had been kicked out.
He was watching the auction with nervousness. He could already feel that powerful Magic Lords were inside the private rooms.
Suddenly, someone knocked on his door. Collecting his thoughts, he asked the guard to come in. He saw the guard was sweating, which made Dorian even more nervous.
“Did you offend anyone?” he asked.
The guard was dumbfounded but immediately reported, “City Lord, a powerful wizard is standing outside. He claims to be the guardian of a guest here. Should I allow him to enter?”
City Lord Dorian was stunned. He worried that the guardian had been offended. After hearing the news, he immediately told the guard to let him in.
He was afraid the person could be another Magic Lord. If the person were a Supreme Wizard, the guards might have sensed it, but they were unsure.
This meant the person standing outside was likely a Magic Lord.
The guard nodded before leaving. He quickly returned outside and saw the wizard was still there.
“The City Lord gave permission. You can enter,” the guard said.
Erwin nodded and walked inside. The guards closed the door behind him.
Erwin contacted Vincent Carey again. After learning that Vincent was in Room 3 on the second floor, he started heading that way.
Room 3
I stood up from my seat, walked to the door, and opened it. Female staff members were waiting outside.
Upon seeing me, they were startled. They asked if I needed anything. I shook my head and told them I didn’t need any help.
My gaze fell on the entrance. It had been a long time since I last saw Forbidden Wizard Erwin. Then, I saw someone entering.
The middle-aged man was none other than Forbidden Wizard Erwin. I could not sense any mana from him, but I knew he was suppressing his power.
If he wanted to, he could destroy the whole city and the surrounding territory. I was now sure that he would solve the problem.
Erwin saw Vincent. His eyes flashed with surprise. He saw right through him; he could tell Vincent’s mana core was powerful.
It was close to reaching the level of a Supreme Wizard, though Vincent hadn’t broken through yet.
This was clearly shocking to Erwin. He knew Vincent had only recently become an official member.
How could he have grown so much? He likely thought Vincent had found some fortuitous opportunity during his recent missions.
He walked into the room. I followed him in and closed the door. Outside, the female staff exchanged looks, realizing that Room 3 now contained a big shot as well.
Inside the room, Erwin sat on the sofa. His gaze swept across the stage and the first floor before locking onto the middle of the first floor.
Seeing Lord Erwin looking at that spot, I followed his gaze. I immediately realized that was where the Sealing Artifact was placed.
My heart skipped a beat. I had used the System to find it, but he seemed to know its location before even entering the building.
Erwin wanted to explore further, but he would have to use his mental power to do so, and he didn’t want to expose himself right now. He turned toward me.
“Did you find anything else?” he asked.
I recalled something. “There seems to be an Elder backing Young Master Sutton, but he is not here,” I replied.
Erwin smiled. “He is in the City Lord’s manor. But the City Lord is here in this auction house.”
I was shocked. I had thought the Elder behind Young Master Sutton would be powerful, but I suspected Lord Erwin was even stronger.
“Don’t worry, no one can activate the Artifact,” Erwin said with a smile.
He had felt a presence in the City Lord’s manor, but it wasn’t powerful enough to threaten him. He was interested to see what the Sutton Family was up to.
