Chapter 1525: Underground shelter!

From MC’s Perspective:

Forbidden Area,

We continued to look at the old man. It seems that the old man doesn’t want to leave the spot.

Outside,

The old man fails to find any clue. The night time comes. Then only he moves away from the place and goes back to his shelter.

The shelter was hidden under the huge skeleton remains of a monster. Each one of the bones was over 15ft.

If one doesn’t look at it carefully, they would miss the shelter.

Inside the Gregor Mansion, I made a decision to go outside alone. Before doing that, I told Zero to monitor the things from the control room.

Swoosh!

I appeared outside the next moment. Then I immediately used the system to look for any threats. The result came as negative.

Which means the old man must have gone back to the shelter. Then I walked up to the huge skeleton remains.

A quick gleam flashed in my eyes. Because the shelter was underneath it. I slowly walked up to the skeleton remains to find some opening.

I started walking around the remains. Yet every gap was closed. I couldn’t see any opening. The big bones had covered the place.

Creak!

Suddenly, I heard some sound. I turned towards the source. I saw the top wooden cover appear above the surface.

Seeing that, I once again appeared in the Gregor Mansion and went to the control room to check. I arrived in front of the mirror.

Zero Puppet side stepped. Then I saw the same old man appearing above the surface. There seemed to be some opening there.

He then walked outside and started walking around the skeleton remains. The old man was once again perplexed.

Their shelter had a mechanism to alert any intruder trespassing their place. He had clearly heard the alert before coming here.

Yet he saw no one here. The old man was surprised. In his hundreds of years of experience, he had never come across anything like this before.

Soon, he returned to the shelter.

Inside the Gregor Mansion, a look of understanding dawned on me.

“There must be something alerting him. It could be his magic or some other thing,” I uttered.

Swoosh!

Then I appeared outside again and quickly went to the wooden cover. Upon arriving at the wooden cover, I noticed that it could be leading to some other passage.

Then I ordered the system to notify me if someone tried to come outside.

Shortly afterwards,

It happened. I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion. The old man appeared again. He was visibly angry this time. He knew mechanisms wouldn’t lie.

There was something going on here which he didn’t know. He went around the skeleton remains again.

Swoosh!

At this time, I appeared outside and entered the downstairs to the shelter. Inside, there was a long passage leading somewhere.

I started following the passage. When I took the left turn, I noticed there were multiple rooms on both sides of the passage.

There was no illumination whatsoever. I was getting death and other foul smells. I appeared inside the Gregor Mansion and went to the control room to check.

Shortly afterwards,

The old man came back. But he looked completely frustrated. While coming back, he was mumbling to himself.

“I don’t know what to tell b@stard Theo,” the old man muttered to himself as he walked along the narrow corridor.

But the old man didn’t know someone else was listening to his words.

Inside the Gregor Mansion, I was stunned in disbelief. I was looking for the wanted criminal Theon Bernard everywhere.

But I didn’t expect to hear his name from the old man’s mouth.

“He is here,” I said to Zero.

Zero’s blue sockets flickered. It recorded the voice of the old man.

Then I shifted my attention back to the control mirror. An unknown relief filled my heart.

I was worried about how to find the wanted criminal in this big Forbidden Area. Fortunately, I came across him so soon.

But I had yet to come across the wanted criminal face to face. Then I took a few pouches of super grade mana stones. I turned towards Zero Puppet.

“If you find an old man or someone else appearing in this corridor, then wake me up.” After saying that, I decided to sleep here.

“Okay, master,” Zero Puppet said.

Then I went to the bedroom to bring a bedsheet and pillows.

Outside,

The old man reached the end of the corridor. There was a big door in front of him. A hint of fear appeared in the old man’s eyes.

Creak!

He opened the door. The next second, he saw that the room was empty. He was surprised. The old man walked inside.

He confirmed that the room was indeed empty. Which meant Theo Bernard had yet to return.

Fortunately, something unknown had happened when he was not here.

Otherwise, Theo Bernard would have forced him to find answers. Then he came out and closed the door.

The old man then went to his own shelter room to sleep.

Time passed,

The morning time came. I woke up and turned towards the control mirror. Then I saw that Zero Puppet was using the last pouch to stay active.

“Zero, did you find anything?” I asked.

Hearing that, Zero Puppet’s blue sockets flickered.

“Master, the corridor was empty. No one has come so far,” Zero replied.

Hearing that, I sighed in relief. Then I looked at Zero and thanked it for its help.

Then I decided to put the Zero Puppet to rest. I deactivated its core. The next second, Zero Puppet became inactive.

I turned my attention back to the corridor. Compared to last night, the corridor was illuminated with daylight.

I could start looking for the wanted criminal Theo Bernard right now.

Swoosh!

I appeared outside the next second. Then I started looking around the place. There were shelter rooms on both sides.

I walked towards one of the shelter rooms. As I got closer to one of them, the foul smell assaulted my nostrils.

My eyes flickered. I saw that the foul smell was coming from the corpse inside.

I didn’t know the identity of the person. But the person must have died recently.

I don’t know how many dark wizards are hiding in this shelter.
