Yang Yi arrived outside the Witch's laboratory.
“If you're scared, you don't have to come with me.”
“I’m not scared!”
Tricia insisted on coming anyway, hiding inside his pocket.
Yang Yi couldn't be bothered to stop her. He pushed open the laboratory door and walked inside.
It was as if there were another space inside, resembling an air-conditioned room. The moment he entered, a chill ran through him.
Yang Yi frowned.
It had been the same the last time he came here. The temperature in the laboratory seemed to be getting lower and lower.
Suna wasn't wearing her mask. She was sitting on a metal chair, holding a beaker in her hands and taking occasional sips from it.
Judging from its color and aroma, it should be Light Vitality Sardine Soup.
Beside her stood a headless corpse, bound to a metal bed that could be flipped over and positioned upright.
“How did it turn into this monstrosity?”
Yang Yi was stunned for a moment. He realized that the corpse was somewhat different from what he had expected.
Apart from the pincers on its left side, the long tentacle of the giant squid on its right, and the legs of the Cyclops, there were several more strange things attached to its body.
Around the corpse's waist was a ring of plump worm tentacles cascading downward like a skirt. They reached all the way to the floor, completely covering its legs.
There was no need to ask where these tentacles came from. The Mutated Pale Worm in the laboratory had gone bald—and completely bald at that. All that remained was its spherical body and a beak-like mouth.
And right in the center of the Deep One's torso, a huge eyeball had been embedded. It should have come from the Cyclops.
“Oh my God, this is way too evil. Those Otherworldly Demons would never have imagined that, after they died, their corpses would be toyed with like this by a witch!”
Tricia's voice came from inside the pocket. She only dared to stick her head out.
Suna stood up.
Tricia immediately stopped talking and completely withdrew into the pocket.
“Once a creature dies, it no longer possesses a soul. These corpses are no different in essence from wood, steel, or mud.”
“But they weren't dead before...”
“But they're dead now.”
Suna interrupted Tricia, and the latter immediately dared not make another sound.
“What did you do?” Yang Yi asked.
“I made some minor adjustments. This arrangement is more reasonable,” Suna replied and began explaining. “The Deep One's torso has structures similar to gills, allowing it to breathe underwater. But these limbs aren't suitable for agile movement underwater, so I added some worm tentacles. This way, it can achieve high-speed underwater movement by expelling seawater.”
Suna explained.
“What about the eyeball?
“Why did you add an eyeball to its chest?” Yang Yi asked, pointing at the eyeball.
“Because it was necessary!”
Suna took out an Evil Container.
“I dissected a Cyclops and discovered that their body structure is highly similar to that of humans. The biggest difference lies in this eyeball.”
There was another eyeball inside the container, approximately ten centimeters in diameter.
On the back of the eyeball was a structure resembling the gyri and sulci of the cerebral cortex, with numerous bundles of nerves extending from it.
There was also a soft-bodied, slug-like brainworm attached to the cerebral cortex, having grown together with the brain. It was even still alive, resembling a snail using an eyeball and brain as its shell...
“Reference image, a little abstract. It's AI-generated, so it isn't entirely accurate.”
“As you can see, this is the eyeball of a Cyclops parasitized by a brainworm. It is both a sensory organ and a brain, occupying a large portion of the space inside a Cyclops's skull. At the same time, it is also an endocrine organ. It can secrete a special growth hormone that stimulates abnormal muscle development, making the body stronger and more powerful.”
“I see.”
Yang Yi immediately understood.
The reason Suna had implanted the eyeball was to take advantage of its ability to secrete hormones, allowing the body and limbs of this corpse to become even stronger.
As for the brain tissue attached to the eyeball, Suna had probably removed it, leaving only its sensory and hormone-secreting functions.
After figuring this out, Yang Yi once again examined the headless corpse.
If it were revived and all the different limbs could work together in coordination, then Mars would have tremendous potential. He would probably become a supernatural creature right from the start.
However, resurrection came with risks.
If Mars was unable to accept such a grotesquely deformed body after being revived, he might descend into madness and even cause destruction aboard the ship.
Yang Yi was confident that he could kill the guy. In fact, he wouldn't even need ten seconds to dismantle him into separate parts.
After all, Suna had used limb grafting surgery to stitch the corpse together. Putting it together was difficult, but taking it apart would be much easier.
“Let's do this on the deck. If anything goes wrong, it'll be easier to deal with.”
As soon as Yang Yi spoke, he and the Xiao Ji Robot carried the corpse onto the deck and placed it in the ship's central courtyard.
Mars's head was brought along as well. Suna carried it in her hands, having put her Plague Doctor mask back on.
Yang Yi took the head, adjusted its position, and placed it against the neck of the headless corpse. He then motioned for the surrounding crew members to move farther away, so they wouldn't get caught up in the situation if things got out of control.
Immediately afterward, he moved the rotary beam cannon over and aimed it at the corpse, leaving Xiao Ji in charge of operating it.
If Mars lost control, Yang Yi would immediately tear off his head and throw it into the air.
Xiao Ji would then fire the rotary beam cannon, ensuring that the head was completely vaporized before it could hit the ground.
Everything was ready.
Yang Yi took out the injection Suna had given him. It contained adrenaline extracted from a Cyclops, which had the effect of stimulating the nervous system.
Now, he was going to use this injection to awaken Mars and counteract the effects of the large amount of anesthetic inside his skull.
The injection went in smoothly. Yang Yi immediately contacted Mars through a private message.
“You there? As you requested, I've already prepared a sufficiently powerful body for you. It has pincers, tentacles, powerful lower limbs, and it can even dive underwater.”
Several seconds later, Mars replied. He seemed extremely excited.
“That’s great! I can hardly wait! Just as expected of the One-Eyed Boss!”
But after saying that, he suddenly changed the subject.
“Um... One-Eyed Boss, did I make you spend a lot of money? How much did all this cost?”
Yang Yi glanced at the corpse and casually replied, “About 1.5 million Seashell Coins.”
“That much?!”
Mars sucked in a sharp breath. Unfortunately, his mouth was stitched shut, so he ended up sucking in nothing but air.
Yang Yi had made up that price on the spot, factoring in some labor costs. The actual value was even higher.
“But, Boss, I only have ninety thousand on me...”
“Keep it for now. You can pay me back when you have money later. Consider it an investment in you,” Yang Yi replied.
“Boss... You truly are the light of humanity, the savior of all players! I, Mars, swear to God... No, you are God! I swear that from now on, I'll follow your lead in everything...”
Mars was incredibly excited. At this point, even if Yang Yi told him to call him Dad, he would probably agree immediately.
But...
“The light of humanity... the savior?”
Yang Yi muttered softly. Looking down at the twisted and grotesquely deformed headless corpse at his feet, he revealed a bitter smile.
“I just hope that once you're revived, you won't call me a demon.”
After all, a large part of the reason Yang Yi was saving him this time was because a certain witch wanted to conduct such an experiment, while Yang Yi himself was her accomplice...
“Limb Restoration!”
