The Girl Who Declared War Over a Sunflower

"This brat stole my sunflower. I’ll definitely beat him to tears today!"

The boy rubbed his aching shoulder.

His face was already red, and his eyes were beginning to water.

He was clearly scared.

But fear wasn’t enough to make him swallow his pride.

He glared at Shasa and shouted,

"You’re the brat! Your entire family are brats!"

His voice trembled as he said it.

He was several years older than Shasa.

Yet somehow, the situation had completely turned against him.

He couldn’t beat her.

He couldn’t even get away from her.

And still, he refused to lose the argument.

Shasa’s eyes widened.

For a moment, she simply stared at him.

Then her expression darkened.

She planted both hands firmly on her hips.

"Hmph! The old Hermit said that anyone who can’t defeat me is a brat."

She lifted her chin.

"You couldn’t even withstand one punch from me. If you’re not a brat, then what are you?"

The boy’s face immediately crumpled.

"Wuwu..."

He looked like he was about to cry for real this time.

"You’re bullying people just because you’re stronger!"

He wiped at his eyes and glared at her.

"Just you wait! I’ll go back and call people!"

Shasa didn’t move.

Not even half a step.

Instead, she raised her chin even higher.

"Go ahead."

Her voice was full of confidence.

"If you have the guts, bring them all here."

She pointed at him.

"I’ll beat them all up if they come."

The confidence in her voice was so absolute that the boys standing nearby instinctively took another step backward.

Nobody wanted to be dragged into this mess.

Selena covered her forehead with one hand.

She didn’t know whether she should laugh or sigh.

How had things even reached this point?

They had only been in Greyhaven City for a short while.

And Shasa had already managed to start a neighborhood war.

Rias, however, was having a much harder time holding back her laughter.

She looked at the boy.

Then at Shasa.

Then back at the boy.

The whole thing was ridiculous.

And somehow, it was also strangely entertaining.

Shasa was clearly an adult young woman.

She understood the difference between winning and losing.

She knew when a situation was dangerous.

Yet whenever she became stubborn like this, there was something almost innocent about the way she refused to back down.

Both Selena and Rias sometimes felt as though they were looking after a much younger sister.

Rias finally stepped forward.

She reached out and gently patted Shasa on the head.

"Alright, Little Shasa."

Shasa immediately looked up at her.

Rias smiled.

"Isn’t it just a roasted sunflower?"

She gave Shasa another gentle pat.

"I’ll give you a hundred later. You can eat as many as you want."

She nodded toward the road ahead.

"Come on. Let’s go. We shouldn’t make Teacher wait too long."

The effect was immediate.

Shasa froze.

Her deep blue eyes widened.

"A hundred?"

All the anger disappeared from her face.

Just like that.

It was as though the storm inside her had suddenly vanished.

A bright smile spread across her face.

"Really?"

Her two small canine teeth showed when she smiled.

She looked at Rias as though she had just heard the most wonderful promise in the world.

Rias nodded.

"Really."

Shasa’s smile grew even wider.

"Alright!"

She glanced back at the boy.

For a brief moment, he probably thought she was about to start another argument.

Instead, Shasa waved her hand dismissively.

"On account of the gentle and considerate Second Senior Sister, I’ll let you off today."

The boy stared at her.

He couldn’t understand what had just happened.

A moment ago, she had been ready to beat him until he cried.

Now...

She had completely forgotten about him.

He stood there with his mouth slightly open.

Selena stared at Rias.

Then she looked at Shasa.

Then she looked back at Rias.

A strange realization slowly dawned on her.

So this little one’s weakness was roasted sunflowers?

Rias had discovered it far too quickly.

Rias noticed Selena’s expression.

She smiled innocently.

As if she had done absolutely nothing suspicious.

Shasa, meanwhile, was already walking happily beside her.

The anger from earlier was completely gone.

She was talking excitedly about the hundred roasted sunflowers.

She even seemed to be planning how she was going to eat them.

Selena could only sigh.

She shook her head and followed them.

Her eyes soon moved toward the road ahead.

Leon was waiting for them there.

He stood quietly beneath the night sky.

When he heard their footsteps, he turned around.

His gaze fell on the three girls approaching him.

For a moment, his eyes settled on Shasa.

She was still talking excitedly to Rias.

Apparently, the hundred roasted sunflowers had become the most important thing in the world.

A faint smile appeared on Leon’s face.

He had expected this journey to Amethyst Summit Division to be peaceful.

Perhaps even a little boring.

But now he wasn’t so sure.

Maybe that was a good thing.

Amethyst Summit Division had never truly been lacking in strength.

What it had been lacking was something else.

Life.

Noise.

People who could laugh after a long day.

People who could argue over something as ridiculous as a roasted sunflower.

People who could turn an ordinary night into something worth remembering.

Leon looked at the three girls for another moment.

Then he turned toward the road ahead.

"Let’s go..."
