Another Bidding War

Rias seemed to share Selena’s confusion.

Her large red eyes blinked several times as she looked from the flower to Leon.

She couldn’t understand why Leon, who had ignored so many valuable treasures, had suddenly stood up because of an ordinary-looking spirit herb.

But neither woman knew what Leon was actually thinking.

The Red Spider Lily wasn’t what Leon wanted because of its ordinary medicinal effect.

It was because of what could be done with it.

Leon glanced at the two women and calmly explained,

"If it’s just for consumption, this thing is indeed not a treasure. However, this flower has other uses."

Selena and Rias looked at each other.

Then, almost at the same time, they asked:

"What uses?"

Leon smiled.

"Alchemy!"

"What?"

The two of them were stunned for a moment.

Their expressions changed almost simultaneously.

Alchemy?

Selena’s blue eyes widened slightly.

Rias’s red eyes also filled with surprise.

Leon didn’t rush to explain.

He looked back toward the Red Spider Lily on the auction platform.

There was an old record hidden among the countless ancient texts he had encountered. The memory surfaced clearly in his mind.

He slowly continued,

"In the records, there is a very special pill called the Nine Revolutions Golden Pill. Just this one pill can allow one to break through in realm on the spot."

The private room became quiet.

Even the distant noise from the auction hall seemed to fade for a moment.

Selena’s expression became serious.

A pill that could allow someone to break through an entire realm on the spot?

That was no ordinary medicinal formula.

Such a thing, if it truly existed, would be enough to drive countless powerful cultivators mad.

Leon naturally understood this.

But he wasn’t blindly convinced by an ancient record.

"Of course, it’s only a legend. We still need to consider if the effect can reach this level. And the most important ingredient to refine this pill is this Red Spider Lily."

He paused.

His gaze returned to the crimson flower.

Then his expression became slightly disappointed.

"Unfortunately, this flower’s grade is too low. It’s only a medium-grade spirit herb, and it’s not even a twin flower."

The difference between an ordinary Red Spider Lily and a twin flower was enormous.

For the legendary Nine Revolutions Golden Pill, the requirements for its ingredients were naturally terrifying.

A single medium-grade spirit herb was nowhere near enough.

Still, Leon wasn’t truly disappointed.

There was always another way.

He lightly rubbed his chin and continued,

"However, it’s fine. Although the grade is a little low, it’s enough to refine a lower level First Revolution Golden Pill."

The moment those words fell, Selena and Rias stared at him.

Then their eyes brightened.

A First Revolution Golden Pill might not possess the legendary power of the complete Nine Revolutions Golden Pill, but if it could still help improve cultivation and break through bottlenecks, its value was unquestionably enormous.

More importantly, this Red Spider Lily was currently sitting right in front of them.

It would be foolish to let such an opportunity slip away.

Selena’s normally composed expression finally showed a hint of excitement.

Rias also leaned forward slightly, her red eyes shining with anticipation.

The two of them were delighted when they heard this and hurriedly suggested,

"Then Teacher, let’s hurry and bid for it."

Leon glanced at her.

He could not help smiling.

His students were usually calm.

But whenever something useful to their cultivation appeared, their reactions were surprisingly quick.

Leon gave a small nod.

"Okay..."

He calmly replied.

He already knew what was going on.

There was no need to rush.

The auction house was already boiling with excitement.

Voices came from every direction.

Some people were discussing the Red Spider Lily.

Others were calculating how much silver they were willing to spend.

The enormous hall was illuminated by rows of crystal lamps.

Their light fell across the countless private rooms.

It created a strange mixture of brilliance and shadows.

Behind those shadows, countless people were watching.

Waiting.

Calculating.

And, in some cases, waiting for someone else to make a mistake.

Leon slowly walked toward the window.

His midnight robes moved gently around his legs.

Thin amethyst embroidery shimmered along the edges whenever the light touched them.

His long black hair fell past his shoulders.

A few strands brushed against his handsome face.

His purple eyes remained calm.

Then he appeared at the window.

The moment everyone saw him.

The atmosphere changed.

A low murmur immediately swept through the auction hall.

"Here again?"

Someone could not help exclaiming.

"Hehe, looks like there’s going to be a good show."

Another person laughed quietly.

Everyone had already noticed the strange pattern.

Every time Leon appeared.

James suffered a heavy loss.

The first time.

James had been dragged into a ridiculous bidding war.

The second time.

He had paid an even more outrageous price.

Now.

Leon had appeared again.

Naturally.

Everyone became interested.

Would James fall for the same trick this time?

Would the two continue fighting?

Or would James finally learn his lesson?

Inside one of the private rooms.

James’s expression sank the moment he saw Leon appear.

His fingers tightened around the armrest.

The wood beneath his palm creaked faintly.

"Damn it, this kid actually dares to appear."

His voice carried an unmistakable irritation.

The follower standing beside him immediately became nervous.

He had watched the previous two auctions.

He knew exactly how badly things had ended.

He quickly stepped forward.

"Your Highness, you can’t fight with him anymore."

He lowered his voice.

"This kid is purely trying to raise the price. He’s playing with you."

James slowly turned his head.

His eyes became cold.

He stared at the follower.

The pressure in that gaze made the man’s back stiffen.

"Shut up."
