Chapter 543
"Have you people lost your conscience? Bullying an orphan like this," the old man reprimanded loudly, his voice filled with majesty and righteousness, seeing this and knowing that staying would not be to their advantage, the young men cursed grumblingly and left the hut.
Leon collapsed onto the ground, covered in wounds, yet hope flickered in his eyes, he knew he was not alone, in this world, there was still someone willing to stand up for him, to have his back, this warmth would become the driving force for him to keep moving forward, looking at the old man’s face, he slowly passed out.
Adam also let out a breath of relief, good thing, if the beating had continued, the boy would have died, to speak with such grand ambition only to lose his life right after would have been far too tragic.
Under the old man’s meticulous care, Leon’s health gradually recovered, during those days, the old man not only prepared steaming hot meals but also patiently cleaned his wounds and applied medicine, though his hands were rough, every touch was filled with warmth and care, allowing Leon to feel a long-lost familial affection.
Leon knew the old man was his only pillar of support in this village, whenever it was the dead of night, he would silently feel grateful, secretly vowing in his heart to repay this kindness in the future.
As time passed, the two grew increasingly close, they would sit together in the courtyard basking in the sun, the old man telling him stories of the past, scene after scene was extremely warm and peaceful.
Yet Adam always felt something was amiss, under normal circumstances, this would be completely ordinary, but this was the Evil God’s doing, it could not possibly be this simple, furthermore, the old man’s gaze always struck him as strange.
One evening, "Grandpa, just let me drink a little bit of wine, I’m begging you."
Leon sat at the dinner table, eyes full of anticipation, originally thinking he would never have a peaceful life, the old man’s appearance had given him hope and brought back some of his childlike nature.
"No, children cannot drink alcohol," the old man shook his head, "Once a person drinks, they lose control over their actions."
"I won’t, grandpa, just a tiny bit," Leon pleaded.
"Fine then, just a tiny bit," the old man helplessly and indulgently handed over the wine cup.
Leon’s eyes lit up, he picked up the cup and gulped it down in one go.
"No, you can’t drink that much," the old man hurriedly took it back, but it was already too late, Leon had slumped over the table, dizzy and hazy.
Meanwhile, the old man shed his kindly smile from moments ago, turning sinister, a pair of withered, gnarled hands began groping all over the youth’s body.
...
Leon felt the world spinning around him, the fierce impact of the alcohol made it nearly impossible to think, he barely managed to push open his heavy eyelids, but the sight before him made him feel as if he had plunged into an ice cellar.
The old man’s hands, the very hands that had once offered warmth and care, were touching him in a deeply unnatural way.
"Grandpa... you..." Leon’s voice trembled, eyes wide with disbelief.
The kindly expression was instantly replaced by sinister coldness, a twisted smile crept onto his lips, "Hmph, you little brat, did you really think I would help you for no reason? I was merely waiting for the right moment to satisfy the desires I’ve suppressed all these years."
Leon’s heart sank to rock bottom, fear and fury intertwined within him, nearly suffocating him, he violently shoved the old man away and staggered back, pointing a trembling finger, "You... you pervert."
The old man sneered, advancing step by step, "Pervert? Hmph, this world is inherently cruel, did you really think everyone you met was a good person? You’re far too naive, brat."
Leon was backed into a corner with nowhere left to retreat, he clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug into his palms, blood dripped, yet he felt no pain, he understood he had to stay calm, otherwise he would only fall into greater danger.
"I won’t let you get away with this," Leon suddenly roared, the fury within found its outlet, he leaped forward, pouncing on the old man with every ounce of strength.
The old man had not expected Leon to counterattack so suddenly and was caught off guard, but he was an adult after all, he quickly steadied himself and began to grapple with Leon.
The air inside the hut seemed to freeze, only heavy panting and violent struggle echoed through the room, although Leon was young, facing a heavier, experienced adult while severely dizzy left him struggling, but he refused to give up, every time he was knocked down, he scrambled back up, because if he gave up now, a horrific tragedy would occur.
Adam quietly watched, at a loss for words, to think he would encounter an old man with such twisted desires, sure enough, things were not that simple.
"Stop resisting, give in to me, and from now on you’ll have a home, this is good for both of us," the old man’s eyes burned with lust.
"Impossible, I’d rather die," Leon’s eyes were bloodshot with rage and absolute resolve, every breath was accompanied by violent heaving of his chest, as if converting all his fear into strength, sweat and tears mingled on his face, but they could not blur the resolute light in his eyes.
"Don’t even think about it," Leon’s voice was hoarse and firm, he suddenly spun around, dodging another lunge, and threw a backhand elbow viciously into the old man’s abdomen, pouring everything into the strike without hesitation.
The old man staggered back, clutching his stomach in disbelief, but the disorientation did not last, he recovered quickly, a ruthless glint in his eyes as he prepared to pounce again.
Leon did not give him the chance, he could not drag this out any longer, the shock had sobered him, though his head still throbbed, gritting his teeth, he lunged like a cheetah, hands wrapping tightly around the old man’s throat in a stranglehold.
"Stop, stop it," the old man’s voice turned hoarse and desperate, he struggled frantically, but Leon’s hands were like iron pincers, tightening more and more, at this moment, Leon had only one thought in his mind, I cannot let this pervert live.
