Chapter 397 (Massage Chair Extra - )
Because it was a small, minor sect, anyone could enter as long as they paid, though the fees were exorbitant.
Adam’s parents were farmers who had painstakingly saved money their entire lives to send him here, they hoped he could cultivate and become an immortal, but Adam possessed absolutely no talent.
The mocking voices rose and fell, piercing his fragile heart like sharp swords, he clenched his fists tight, nails digging into flesh, yet the physical pain could not mask the fury burning within.
He knew he had to endure it, lashing out would only bring crueler treatment, but he was still a young man filled with hot blood, and a fierce desire to rebel welled up inside him.
He yearned for power, longing to prove he was no worse than anyone else.
Just then, a gentle voice rang out. "Enough, stop bullying Adam, what does this have to do with you? Shut up!"
The speaker was another boy, dressed in rough hemp garments but bearing a pure, innocent smile, his presence seemed to bring a ray of sunlight into the gloomy dormitory.
The boy walked up to Adam and patted his shoulder.
"Adam, don’t pay attention to their words, they just have too much time on their hands!" His voice was gentle yet firm, carrying reassurance.
Adam looked at him with gratitude, the anger in his heart slowly subsiding, he knew this boy genuinely cared about him and did not look down on him like the others.
"Thank you!"
"No need to thank me, alright, let him pour his own foot water. Ignore him, let’s go to sleep!" the boy said, gently making Adam set down the basin and pulling him back to his simple bed.
Strangely enough, after this boy spoke, none of the others dared talk back, the looks they gave him held a mix of awe and apprehension.
His name was Byron, a genius and the only one among today’s new disciples to break through to the Qi Condensation stage in just a single minute, his emergence had sent shockwaves through the entire Southern Sun Sect, his strength and talent left everyone astonished.
Lying on his simple bed, complex emotions surged through Adam’s heart, he was grateful for Byron’s help, but at the same time felt angry at his own powerlessness, if he wanted to escape this fate, he had to become stronger, he had to make his parents proud.
The night grew deep, and the chatter finally quieted. However, Adam’s heart could not find peace, he lay tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
The sneers and insults echoed relentlessly in his mind, fueling his growing anger and unwillingness to accept his lot.
Just then, Byron spoke softly from nearby. "Adam, I know you feel awful, but don’t take it to heart, the opinions of others have nothing to do with you, dwelling on it will only drain you from inside, instead of torturing yourself, get some rest and focus on becoming stronger!"
Adam paused, then nodded silently, a trace of warmth swelled in his heart, his fury and resentment seemed to find an outlet.
He nodded heavily, eyes flashing with resolve. "Byron, thank you, I will become stronger, and I will make them look at me with new eyes!"
Byron smiled and patted his shoulder. "I believe in you, no matter what difficulties you face, never give up, only by persevering can you achieve your goals."
The next day.
Morning sunlight filtered through the bamboo leaves, scattering across the bluestone slabs of the Southern Sun Sect.
Adam woke early and began his new day of cultivation, he knew that to become stronger, he had to put in far more effort than others.
However, cultivation was not smooth sailing.
He had tried countless times, yet still could not sense spiritual energy, his heart was filled with frustration, even his mentor had given up on him, entirely skipping over him during teaching sessions.
Just then, Byron walked over, seeing Adam’s dejected expression, he smiled faintly. "Adam, it’s okay, if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me!"
Adam raised his head, hope flashing in his eyes. "Really? Byron, can you teach me how to cultivate?"
Byron nodded firmly. "Of course. I will help you to the best of my ability, cultivation isn’t achieved overnight, it requires patience and perseverance, you have to believe in yourself and the possibilities of the future."
"Byron, what are you doing? Come here, don’t waste your time on useless people!" the master shouted from afar.
Adam’s heart went cold again.
"I’m not wasting time, I’m talking to my good friend, I’ll be right there!" Byron turned and replied.
Friend? Adam’s heart stirred, and warmth rose within him once more.
He could feel Byron’s sincerity.
That was right, if others had not given up on him, how could he give up on himself?
The frustration gradually dissipated, replaced by a fresh surge of hope and motivation.
"Don’t be too anxious when cultivating, take your time, don’t just treat spiritual energy as spiritual energy, try treating it as a friend, let it be more natural..."
Under Byron’s guidance, Adam began to re-evaluate his cultivation methods.
Several days passed.
Within Adam’s dantian, a tiny wisp of spiritual energy finally appeared.
This spiritual energy was like a thin thread, weak and fragile, but in Adam’s perception, it was like a dazzling star, full of endless hope and possibilities.
He was so excited he could barely contain himself, this was the first time since he began cultivating that he had truly sensed spiritual energy.
He knew this was the result of his perseverance, as well as the reward for Byron’s selfless help.
Adam clenched his fists, a firm light shining in his eyes, this was only the beginning and he still had a long way to go, but he had seen the dawn ahead, which would be the driving force for him to persevere.
"Byron, I succeeded! I sensed the existence of spiritual energy!" Adam excitedly found Byron, voice brimming with pride.
Byron smiled at him, eyes full of appreciation and encouragement. "Congratulations, Adam, this is an important milestone on your path of cultivation, but remember, this is only the beginning, you must continue to work hard and not become complacent."
"I understand!"
Adam nodded heavily, he knew Byron was right.
He had sensed the existence of spiritual energy, but this did not mean he had already become a true cultivator.
He still had much to learn and improve upon, he had to remain humble and hardworking in order to go further on this path.
