Chapter 1052: Chapter 49

Just as the man finished speaking, the twins appeared out of nowhere, directly throwing a punch at the man’s stomach, and then several security guards came up to take him away.

At that moment, the interruption spoiled the mood for Go Biqing, Murong Qing, and the others. After leaving the dance floor, they saw someone who seemed to be a manager approach and say, "Miss Jia Ying, I’m sorry, really sorry about what happened earlier, just now..."

"Enough, if our venue keeps having people like this show up, then who will dare to come here in the future? Let’s just forget about this time, make sure it doesn’t happen again. I’ll have my brother keep an eye on things, as for that man, you handle it yourself. From now on, he shouldn’t show up at any Ju Sheng Company venues," Zhou Jiaying calmly said, having already returned to her usual composed demeanor.

Go Biqing was shocked, realizing these ladies might indeed have immense psychological pressure or even split personalities; the one dancing just now seemed so different from her current self, and Murong Qing was the same.

With his mood gone, Go Biqing remembered he had a job fair to attend the next day. Despite Zhou Jiaying, his dream girl, being right in front of him, Go Biqing constantly reminded himself not to fall for her. They were from two different worlds, and there was no possibility for them. Moreover, he had to worry about next month’s living expenses. So he said, "I have something to do tomorrow, can’t stay out too late. I’m heading out now."

Upon hearing this, Murong Qing quickly added, "It’s getting late, I need to go too. I have school matters tomorrow—being the president sure is busy—Go Biqing, let me give you a ride."

After the three of them walked out, Zhou Jiaying pulled Murong Qing aside saying, "Qingqing, forget it, I’ll sleep at your place tonight. If I go home, my dad will definitely start nagging me again. Hold on, let me tell my brother, I can’t call home, or he’ll nag me too."

Nobody knew what Zhou Jiaying said to the twins, but they seemed to shake their heads with wry smiles, apparently, they compromised in the end.

Zhou Jiaying came over with her purse and said, "Sorted. Let’s go, let’s take Go Biqing home first. We’re not in any rush, I’ll stick around with you tomorrow too."

Looking at this Zhou Jiaying, who seemed so different from the one he initially knew, Go Biqing realized that perhaps this was her true personality; everything else was just an act for others.

Murong Qing, feeling unable to refuse this adorable friend, said, "Alright then, but if I go abroad, you better take me in."

"No problem, no problem, let’s go." With that, Zhou Jiaying sat in the passenger seat first.

Section Six: Late Night Snack and Different Feelings

On the way back, Zhou Jiaying acted completely differently than how Go Biqing remembered her, behaving like an ordinary girl, chatting cheerfully with Murong Qing.

The conversations mostly revolved around domestic events showing that Zhou Jiaying was very concerned about things in China during her years abroad.

Soon after arriving at Go Biqing’s house, he politely exchanged farewells with Murong Qing and Zhou Jiaying.

In the instant he turned around, Go Biqing suddenly felt—for the first time—that perhaps he’d been living in a dream he had woven for himself all along. In the end, he and Zhou Jiaying were two worlds apart, maybe they could become ordinary friends, even good friends, but regarding romance, he really felt somewhat hopeless.

As Go Biqing walked to the door, Zhou Jiaying suddenly said, "Go Biqing, I’m a bit hungry, want to grab a bite to eat. Can you spare a little time?"

This sudden voice was like a ray of sunlight for someone who tended to overthink and find themselves stuck in a dead-end, keeping a small glimmer of hope alive in Go Biqing’s heart.

Turning back, Go Biqing said, "Of course, but I’ll still need you to give me a ride back."

Murong Qing shrugged and said, "Alright, since I’m in a good mood today, I’ll play driver a little longer."

Knowing Murong Qing was just joking, Go Biqing laughed and got back in the car. Murong Qing started the car, asking, "Where should we eat? Our Miss can pick a place today."

Zhou Jiaying thought for a moment and said, "Let’s go for some barbecue."

"Alright, the usual spot, let’s go." Murong Qing said, starting the car and speeding forward.

Once they reached the place, Go Biqing realized their ’usual spot’ was actually a night market street, filled with stalls like a big food court, nothing like the kind of place Zhou Jiaying would typically frequent.

After getting out of the car, Zhou Jiaying took a deep breath of the barbecue smoke wafting in the air, then said ecstatically, "Haven’t had this for so long, just smelling it makes me drool."

At this moment, Murong Qing laughingly grabbed Zhou Jiaying’s hand and took hold of Go Biqing’s arm, heading toward the busiest barbecue stall.

Even before Zhou Jiaying approached, the stall owner grilling the barbecue noticed them—a man and two women—and immediately laughed, saying, "Jia Ying is here, haven’t seen you in a long time, heard from your dad you went abroad to study. Finally back, that’s impressive. You’ll surely do well from now."

Zhou Jiaying pouted, saying, "You’re teasing me. I just returned yesterday, and here I am today giving you business, don’t you thank me?"

Murong Qing was also displeased, saying, "She goes abroad, and gets praised; does that mean I fall short?"

Unexpectedly, the owner’s joke drew dissatisfaction from the two young ladies, and he hurriedly said, "Alright, alright, I can’t argue with you. It’s on the house today, no takeaways allowed; eat as much as you can and I’ll cover it all."

Zhou Jiaying and Murong Qing joyfully high-fived and said, "Awesome, we’re getting treated. Watch us eat until you’re broke!"

It was then that Go Biqing realized Murong Qing and Zhou Jiaying were definitely familiar with the owner, and the cost of a single barbecue meal was probably less than these young ladies’ daily gasoline expenses. Yet, they still found joy in a free meal like regular folks—perhaps this was the difference between those truly from the upper class and himself. In the past, he’d never have chosen to eat here, especially when accompanied by girls, it would’ve been out of the question.

Zhou Jiaying, Murong Qing, and Go Biqing picked up plates and selected the dishes they wanted to eat, but upon carefully observing them, Go Biqing noticed that despite their banter about eating the owner out of business, the way they were picking dishes showed they weren’t taking much, revealing it was just a joke.
