God of Adaptation
Chapter 339: Regis vs Sanguine Order II
"What... are they planning...?
Aziza was filled with confusion as she saw the elven girl flying towards the portal above her.
"Haha... have they lost their minds? Don’t they know that diving headfirst into the portal to the Realm of Evil is practically suicide without something on the level of divine powe—"
BOOOM!!!
BZZZTTTTT—-!!!!
Before Aziza could finish speaking, she was interrupted by the deafening sound of explosions and sparks.
"W-What!?"
Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at the portal above.
She saw a small ’cocoon’ disrupting the demonic power that served as the foundation of the portal, instantly destabilizing it to the point that it was already on the verge of destruction.
The ’cocoon’ was none other than Marzana.
"Please work!"
Her face contorted as she released as much chaos energy as she could.
Aziza felt stupefied, "What kind of power is that!?"
Even as she spoke, she immediately focused on stabilizing the portal once more.
"This isn’t gonna work! I’ll need to remove that pest from the portal."
Aziza’s mind raced as she controlled one member of the Sanguine Order to stop attacking Regis and head towards Marzana.
’That white-haired boy with blood-red eyes is too strong! I’ll need the others to keep him occupied, so one should be enough to remove that pest before she interrupts His descent!’
Feeling quite confident of her plan, she placed the majority of her focus on the stabilization of her portal.
"No!"
Regis shouted as he saw Zild heading towards Marzana.
’I need to stop him!’
Just as he was about to give chase...
Regis saw something unusual.
Zild, who was supposed to be under control, glanced at him before running away.
’Is he...’
Regis could not quite put his finger on it.
’I guess I’ll just have to trust my instinct...’
After all, this instinct was the one thing that grew alongside him in all his years of being an adventurer.
’Since Marzana’s safe for now...’
In the next moment, a smile appeared on Regis’s face. "Playtime’s over. Let me assess the results of your training!"
BZZZT!!!
A flash of yellow lightning burst as Killian appeared behind him with his sword already mid-swing towards the back of his neck.
"Splendid swordsmanship as usual, Killian."
Regis commented with a smile as he parried the attack without looking behind him, "However, the fluctuations of your aura are still easily readable!"
Facing the attack of the remaining three members of Exemplar Squad— Hans, Sora, and Dabi— he immediately threw his sword.
The sword spun in the air as it headed towards Sora, who was in the middle.
Seeing that he had no intention of dodging, Regis clicked his tongue as the fingers of his left hand danced wildly.
In an instant, countless mana threads bound the flying sword.
The flying sword’s trajectory changed, making it so that its pommel was the one to hit Sora squarely in the forehead instead of its blade.
THWACK!
Due to the sheer force and Regis’s precise control, it hit a certain spot, which made Sora lose consciousness instantly.
Swoosh— Swoosh—
Now faced with Hans and Dabi’s swords that headed for him from both the left and the right, Regis reacted quickly as he took a step back.
This positioned him behind Killian, who was just about to land on the ground.
Then, with a forceful kick, he sent Killian hurtling toward the two swordsmen, the impact knocking all three of them back more than ten meters.
"You guys are good swordsmen, but you still need to train your situational awareness. Hmm?"
Regis was speaking when he suddenly felt mana fluctuations from afar.
"I guess I’ll need to take the mages out first."
Without any further hesitation, he sprinted towards the back lines, where Aurelia, Pandora, Auryn, Lesfera, and Aeola were standing, preparing another barrage of magic spells.
As though sensing his intention, the remaining members of Sanguine Order formed a battle formation around the five.
"Oho? To think that you’ll even remember our formation. Interesting!"
Regis looked like he was enjoying the situation as he licked his lips. "Stop me with everything you have!"
For some reason, the controlled members of the Sanguine Order could not help but flinch at his words.
"You’re all controlled anyway, so it’s acceptable even if I don’t hold back, right?"
Regis smiled widely, "Forget the assessment. Y’all won’t be remembering it anyway."
"Here I come~!"
He shouted excitedly as his figure directly disappeared from their sight.
In an instant, Regis arrived before the formation, his seven connected stars shining as he unleashed a barrage of aura arts and magic spells.
The vanguard of the formation consisted of Morgana, Sera, Kara, Brutt, Perto, Patti, and Raxon.
For some reason, a chill seemed to run down their spines.
Nevertheless, Regis met them head-on as he tackled them like a raging bull.
BOOOM!!!
The sheer impact of his tackle caused an explosion that sent the seven vanguards of the formation hurtling through the air like ragged dolls.
"Ah, that feels good!"
Regis smiled as though he felt deeply refreshed.
Behind him, the assassins of the Sanguine Order— Vanessa with her black claws, and Rumi with her daggers— attacked him at the same time.
As they closed in from opposite angles, Regis performed a powerful roundhouse kick with all his strength behind it, sending the two of them flying just like the vanguards.
Swoosh—!!!
It was then that an arrow silently flew into the air and headed towards the back of his neck.
The one who shot it was the adventurer corporation’s sole archer, Palma.
Without turning his head, Regis’s hands moved in a strange manner.
"If you were not controlled, you would’ve been aware that I’ve already adapted to archery a long time ago~."
Clang!
The first movement caused the arrow to spin in place mid-air.
Boom!
The next movement caused the arrow to fly back where it came from with several times its original force
"Ah!"
A yelp sounded as it pierced through Palma’s hand.
Regis was just about to dash towards the mages when...
BZZZTTTT!!!!
[Lightning God’s Descent]
A chant echoed as a young man covered in raging lightning shot towards him.
"Oh, you want a rematch?"
Regis smiled as he met the attack head-on.
