God of Adaptation
Chapter 273: Plans for the Week
Marzana spoke with a smile, "Then I’ll be going for now. Thank you for taking care of me."
"No need to worry about it, everything’s part of the deal, after all. We’ll decrease the amount of time allotted for training so you can spend more time developing the party." Regis responded.
"I understand. To be honest, I already have a few candidates in mind, but I still need to verify whether they’ll be available."
The elven girl spoke as she stood up and prepared to leave.
Seeing her, Regis seemed to think of something, "About the thing we’ve talked about earlier, I’ll do my best to find more about the chaos energy in your body."
"I appreciate it, but there’s no need to rush since it’s not really an urgent matter. But still, thank you for assuring me."
As she got close to the door, Regis’s voice sounded behind her, "By the way, I’m curious about something."
"What’s it about? I’ll answer if I can." She asked while looking back at him.
"It’s nothing serious, really. I’m just curious whether you’ve thought of a name already for the party you’ll soon be leading?"
"Hmm, I haven’t really thought about it that much, but I’m thinking of Equilla. It’s nothing flashy, but way better than your party name."
"You little—"
Seeing the vein popping on Regis’s temple, Marzana stuck her tongue out before rushing out of the room.
"She got a little too comfortable during the past few days... Though I don’t know if that’s a good thing..."
Sigh~
Regis soon shook his head with a smile.
He could not deny that the past few days with the elven girl had been quite enjoyable for him.
"Furthermore..."
He muttered as he raised his right hand slowly, as a sphere of energy circled in it.
It was not the blue mana, red aura, purple aether, white -golden divine power, nor was it the pure white faith...
It was a black energy, unbefitting of the maliciousness of demonic power.
This strange power was none other than Marzana’s chaos energy.
In the past few days that they had trained, Regis had tried using Indiscriminate absorption in order to try and see if he could gain chaos energy through Marzana as well.
And to his surprise, he was able to acquire it.
"Is this really a good thing?"
Regis muttered to himself as he looked at the sphere of chaos energy before him.
He could not help but feel a little worried, ’I have too many energies right now... It will take me a very long time if I want to train in all of them.’
Originally, although he had an inkling that he could absorb chaos energy as well, he had not planned to.
However, there was something in him that made him go against his plans.
Regis could not quite put his finger on it. It felt like an instinctive desire, ’Like how one would want to drink water when they were thirsty, or eat when they were hungry, and so on...’
’Now that I have this energy too... I can feel something inside me becoming more... how should I describe it... Complete? Yes, I think that’s it.’
Even with all his worries, he decided to train his energies with all his efforts.
’This will make my progress extremely slow, but...’
Regis could feel it— he needed to do this.
His instinct that grew along with his Perfect Adaptation seemed to be urging him to walk towards that path.
"My instinct has never failed me in the past..."
The hint of worry on his face were sowly replaced by a smile of confidence, "...Well, I’ll just take it as a challenge."
Regis then put his hand down as he became lost in thought, ’As for my plans for the week...’
In the past few days, he had prioritized the training of his soon-to-be corporation members, which inevitably led to his progress halting.
For now, he planned to get back to his training.
After all, the time needed for Marzana’s training has now drastically reduced since she had her tasks, and she had already made her first chaos star.
From this moment on, Regis would only need to check her progress bit by bit without needing extensive one-on-one training as they had in the past few days.
In short, Marzana’s stepping into the One Star Realm had reduced Regis’s workload a lot.
"Other than that, I still have to visit Uncle Aurum and request a few books..."
He remembered what Marzana had said earlier.
Although they solved the case of Marzana, they were still unaware of the origins of the chaos energy inside her.
Thus, it could not be helped that she was curious about its origins.
After all, for an elf loved by nature to be cursed with chaos, it seemed as if there was someone behind the scenes who orchestrated all of it.
"But she’s an elf of the royal lineage under the direct protection of their queen and the World Tree, so..."
Regis’s brows furrowed as, no matter how hard he thought, everything seemed to lead to a single conclusion.
"...Only a being at the level of gods and devils could possibly do something like this."
Sigh—!
An exasperated sigh came out of his mouth as he scratched his head, "Anyways, she said that it’s not really urgent, so let’s just take our time."
Regis soon got up and exited the private training room, afraid that staying any longer would only make him think of new tasks to do.
’I’m already swamped as it is, so I’d better just see how the others are doing right now...’
Curiosity flashed past his eyes as he observed the other parties.
The first was Killian’s vanguard training, which consisted of nine members.
These members were, namely: Zild, Hans, Dabi, Sora, Sera, Morgana, Rumi, Palma, and Kara.
In the past few days, he has taught them how to circulate their aether more efficiently and that they should make more use of its passive nurturing of their physical body itself.
After all, if a swordsman or warrior ran out of energy, they could only rely on themselves.
Thus, they averaged around a hundred spars with only their physical abilities.
Sometimes the spar would be team wherein the members between the two parties were shuffled to increase their unity and decrease friction among them.
Sometimes, it would be free for all, wherein it was one against everyone.
And finally, there were also times when Killian himself faced all of them.
Of course, this was only possible if they were using only their physical capabilities, as Killian was not Regis, after all.
Even though he came from a family of knights and swordsmen, Killian still has profound general knowledge applicable to all types of weapons and fighting styles.
Moreover, as a noble who had received an education before he even knew how to walk, he had extensive knowledge of other weapons as well.
And finally, he also made sure train them in using team formations that would help them fight against someone stronger than them.
"They’re doing well so far..."
Regis had a satisfied expression as he nodded approvingly.
His gaze then wandered over the other side of the main training hall.
Unlike the physical training of the previous group, the next one was much calmer...
’Or maybe not...?’
Looking at the Vanta party, who looked as if their heads were on the verge of exploding, Regis could not help but have second thoughts.
Pandora had thought Lesfera, Vanessa, Brutt, and Perto had more magic knowledge these past few days.
Her efforts were so extreme that she even got to the point of making different versions of books for each of them, just to make sure that every word was within their range of understanding.
Of course, as they learned more, the adjustments she was making had also decreased accordingly as well.
Furthermore, even though she adjusts the book’s complexity, she always makes sure to make it so that they would still be pushed to improve as well.
Just like filling a balloon with water to the point where it was on the verge of exploding, but never getting to that point.
This caused her four students’ progress to advance in leaps and bounds.
Aside from training the others, both Killian and Pandora never slacked in their training as well.
After all, they were not like Regis, who needed to focus all of his attention as Marzana’s situation was quite delicate.
"They’re doing well too..."
Once again, Regis’s face was full of praise, but something seemed to nudge his mind, ’Something’s missing...’
He then realized what that nagging feeling was a moment after, ’They’re... Still at the Starless Realm!’
That was right, even though their circulation of aether had become extremely efficient, they were not able to form a star.
’I think... I’ll get busier this week...’
Regis had a helpless expression as he went forward and gathered the two groups together.
"Starting tomorrow, besides your training with Pandora and Killian, I will train you in forming your first aether star as well!"
