Chapter 141: Exclusive Quest
"Isn’t that them?"
"Where?"
"There. The ones who just entered..."
"Decadence Tea Party, huh? What a peculiar name..."
"What do you think that name means, though?"
"I’m not sure myself, but isn’t the name of an adventurer party supposed to embody their spirit and characteristics?"
"In that case, isn’t the name a little too vulgar when you think about it?"
"You’re right, but..."
"By the way, they haven’t really been active lately, right?"
"I noticed it too. It has been a few months since they had last accepted a quest."
"It’s a pity since they have been on the rise..."
"Right, completing hundreds of quests in just less than a year was crazy."
"Why do you think they laid low?"
"I heard some news that there were some people who were after them."
"Nah, I highly doubt it. They’re just kids..."
"What you said makes sense. They are indeed just kids, after all. Maybe they just didn’t know any better..."
...
Whispers sounded as the adventurers in the lobby glanced at the children who had just entered the building.
Their eyes showed hints of doubt and intrigue as they discussed among themselves.
Meanwhile, the subject of their interests didn’t show as much as a change in expression.
The boy with snow white hair and blood red eyes had a confident gait as he led their group up to the reception desk.
Next in line was a girl with a head full of shiny black hair. Her ruby red eyes bore striking resemblance to the boy before, making others assume that they were siblings.
Lastly was a boy with blonde hair and resplendent blue eyes who followed behind with his head lowered.
He was also using his shirt to hide half of his face from the crowd.
"Can you stop that? You’re making it more embarrassing for us...!" Pandora berated Killian in a low voice.
However, the latter didn’t seem to hear her as he only bowed his head lower.
’I can’t face her like this...’
Killian nervously thought to himself as he sneakily glanced at the reception desk.
Expectedly, he saw a familiar girl with a cute face who had an amiable smile on her face as she talked with other adventurers.
’I don’t have it in me to face Rebecca immediately...’
He squinted his eyes as his mind became filled with the scene of her treating him cold heartedly after hearing news about his drink with that specific girl in the bar.
Killian was worried due to the fact that the news of his encounter at the bar back then reached Rebecca.
Therefore, he decided to hide as he was afraid of facing her.
He even wished that they would never reach the reception desk due to this matter.
Unfortunately, the world wouldn’t stop spinning for him.
"Greetings, Esteemed Adventurers! How may I help you?"
Though fortunately for him, the receptionist who approached them wasn’t Rebecca but a man who seemed to be in his 20s.
’Thank goodness.’ Killian internally heaved a sigh of relief.
Regis was ignorant of his companion’s dilemma as he smiled, "We’d like to see the quests requested of the Decadence Tea Party."
He handed a copper colored card with the insignia of a dagger embedded on a tea cup in the process.
"Oh..." The receptionist gasped inaudibly as he reached out for the card.
"Understood, Sir. Let me check the quests for you." He said respectfully as he inserted the card in an unknown machine behind the counter while configuring it.
Regis soon noticed ripples of energy as he raised his brow, ’Waves of mana, huh? Interesting.’
As it was their first time using their party card, it was also their first time encountering a scene like this.
After a minute or two, the receptionist finished what he was doing and handed the card back to Regis.
"Please wait for a short while as I get the lists of quests available for you, Sir." The receptionist smiled as he entered one of the rooms behind the counter.
Looking at the card in his hands, Regis couldn’t help but be intrigued, "Just what kind of technology is this..."
"It’s the secret craft of the dwarves."
A voice suddenly sounded, prompting the three to look towards a man with bulky muscles.
Upon seeing the one who spoke, Pandora subconsciously frowned while Killian’s face soured.
On the other hand, Regis retained the blank expression on his face, "Thank you for the information, Sir...?"
"Pogar. My name is Pogar." The bulky man smiled widely, showing his yellow teeth.
Regis expressed his gratitude, "Then thank you, Mr. Pogar. Is there any way I can be of help to you?"
"Heh."
The other bulky men who were behind Pogar sneered as they heard his words.
Meanwhile, Pogar only shook his head, "Don’t worry about it. I just came by because I’m interested in you. We’re the Burning Axe Party, by the way."
"Sir. Here’s the list of exclusive quests that have been requested of the Decadence Tea Party."
At this moment, the receptionist came back with a pile of paper in his arms.
Seeing this, Pogar glanced at him before nodding at Regis, "It seems like you’re busy. We’ll be on our way."
Regis nodded back at him in response with a slight smile.
"Oh, before I forget."
Pogar spoke after taking a few steps before looking back, "I just want to remind you to be careful on your adventures... That’s all, bye."
Hearing his words, Regis seemed to fall into deep thought before looking over towards the receptionist.
The receptionist handed over the pile of paper as he said, "You can look over the files while sitting in the lobby."
"Thank you." Regis politely said as he led Pandora and Killian over to one of the sofas littered across the lobby.
"Okay let’s do this."
He spoke while placing the papers over the table for the three of them to look at.
They huddled together as they looked through the pieces of paper with a serious expression on their faces.
In others’ eyes, they were just normally looking through the papers.
After a few moments, Pandora spoke in a low voice, "Brother, you must’ve felt it too, right?"
"Yes, they’re emitting huge amounts of malice towards us." Regis whispered back as he nodded.
Killian chimed in, "They’re a party under the Ashen Axe Corps. I don’t know what they’re planning, but it sure isn’t good. What’s more is that they are also mercenaries."
Mercenaries. People who would do anything and everything in the name of money.
Unlike adventurers who complete quests that revolved around exterminating monsters and escorting merchants, mercenaries were people who murdered for money.
Adventurer Guild places significance on honor while mercenaries would do even the vilest of things if they were paid enough.
Hearing this, Regis nodded, "It’s fine. We’ll just need to deal with them when the time comes."
"For now, let’s focus on choosing the most suitable quest for us both in terms of rewards and training opportunities."
"Brother, look at this! All we need to do is to mine the emeralds in the nearby mountain rang–"
"I’m sorry, Pandora. I think we should get a more suitable quest for us."
"Oh, okay Brother."
"Pffft!" Killian witnessed their interaction and let out a low laugh.
Pandora instantly glared at him, "What the hell are you laughing about, huh!?"
"You’re just too weird. I can understand liking sparkly things, but to the point where you’re willing to mine for it? Pfft!"
"Oh really? You think you have the time to be laughing? Have you fixed your relationship with your Rebecca? Or your Natalie who is the daughter of the merchant in the district? Do you remember Eralyn of the Alchemy Hall? Haven’t you exchanged letters as well?"
With every word that came out of Pandora’s mouth, Killian’s face continued to darken as his eyes became clouded with depression.
"Enough, enough, please. I know that I’m wrong, so please take it easy on me..."
"Hmph."
While the two were bickering, Regis had a slight frown on his face as he separated a piece of paper from the rest.
’This...’ He couldn’t help but feel excited as he read what was written on the paper.
Noticing his behavior, Pandora and Killian stopped their antics as they hurriedly read the paper he was reading.
Exclusive Request for Decadence Tea Party:
Mission Type: Escort (Classified)
Difficulty: Unidentified
Reward: Unidentified
Description:
Escort carriages that contained the supply to be delivered at the Bakurad Fortress near Drakaroth Heights.
Requestor: Midas Merchant Organization
"I think this quest is the best for us..." Regis spoke as he glanced at his companions.
Pandora immediately nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Killian squinted his eyes, "The Bakurad Fortress is located at the Northern Regions which is almost on the other side of the Acheron Kingdom which means that it might take us around four months– No, since this is an escort mission, it will take longer for us to arrive there. Maybe half a year or so?"
"Though I don’t really mind. Whatever you want, Boss. I trust your judgment when it comes to these kinds of things."
But upon seeing the requestor, Killian’s eyes immediately went wide.
