God of Adaptation
Chapter 105: Richie Rich I
Tok— Tok—
"There it is."
Regis said with a deep breath as he looked at Pandora.
"I hope that we can still stay here, Brother."
"We’ll know about that soon." He replied as he walked towards the door.
It had already been three days since the two of them visited Killian in his room and since then, they had been waiting.
Regis knew full well that whatever was waiting outside the door would decide their fates.
Glancing back at Pandora, he knew exactly what she was thinking.
They had conversed in the past few days and came to the conclusion that there was a very high chance that Alexis would find them suspicious.
Although Regis wasn’t sure about their capabilities, he knew for the fact that Alexis was able to deduce that they weren’t siblings.
Just this alone made him ponder the possibility of his and Pandora’s origins.
That was why he decided to take a gamble.
He surmised that as long as Alexis didn’t connect him with being a demonic human, he would turn a blind eye to their "suspicious" origins.
However, if he were to fail the gamble, then he and Pandora would have to escape the Corelli Fortress.
Worst case scenario would be that they would be locked up.
Thus, as he took a deep breath, he steeled himself for what was about to happen before closing his eyes tightly.
He then opened the door slowly, his nervousness reaching its peak.
Creak—
"Good afternoon, Sir Regis. The Chaplain has tasked me with giving this to you."
Slowly opening his eyes, a smile appeared on Regis’s lips, ’It seems like we won the gamble.’

In Killian’s room...
He was currently looking at his legs, curling his toes with a frown on his face.
"Did I make the right decision? Is it really right for me to try enjoying life when my family all died?"
"Shouldn’t I at least try to build the family back up again?"
"Is it okay for me to not die yet...?"
Killian muttered to himself as he repeatedly curled his toes and stretched his leg.
This was to regain the mobility of his legs that had become extremely numbed due to healing in the last few days.
He was also currently going through a life crisis as a child that had been left all alone in this world by his family.
"Ughhh, I don’t know anymore! Well, I can just back out if I want..."
Tok— Tok—
The knocks on the door cut off his mutterings.
Killian promptly composed himself and answered, "Come in."
Creak—
Seeing the familiar figures of Regis and Pandora entering, he heaved a sigh.
"I thought we’re going to meet after five days? What brought you here so suddenl—"
"Look!"
Regis interrupted him as he showed him a rectangular card.
Alias: -
Profession: Beginner Warrior
Rank: Early Stage One Star
Novice Adventurer
"Oh? You were already able to get your Adventurer IDs?"
Killian was visibly surprised as he saw the details on the rectangular card.
This was because he knew for a fact just how much of a hassle it was whenever one needed to apply for an ID.
"How about your alias?"
"Oh, the nun told me that we could just go to the Adventurer’s Guild Branch to get it updated."
"So...?" Regis smirked, "Want to go adventuring?"
Behind him, Pandora’s eyes could also be seen sparkling in excitement.
"Really? Like that?"
Killian looked at the two of them with a helpless expression on his face.
The clothes they were wearing were the ones provided by the church.
"Do you even have money? Weapons?"
Hearing his words, Regis and Pandora looked at each other.
They didn’t know if their belongings in the inn were still there. After all, they have been gone for a few days.
"We have a few things back in the inn..."
"What valuables do you have? If you have any, that is."
Regis scratched the back of his head and said, "Well, we have a few gold coins... Oh! We also have a staff we got from a bandit back then."
"Is that it?"
Killian had his hands over his hips as he asked them with a raised brow.
For some reason, Regis felt speechless at the sudden change in his attitude.
’Huh? Why do I feel like a beggar all of a sudden?’ Was the thought in both Regis and Pandora’s mind.
"Haaa, forget about your stuff if that’s the case. I’m sure those at the inn have already taken that for themselves. Adventurers checking in and not returning are common, after all."
"Ehhh?"
Regis couldn’t help but feel that it was a waste. After all, it was the fruit of fighting the bandits that attacked them.
"I think I’m good to go now too."
Killian spoke as he stood up from his bed and stretched his legs.
"Hmmm, although I still can’t use it the way it was before, walking is not a problem..." He muttered to himself as tried stomping lightly.
Killian then looked at Regis and Pandora, who both had a lost expression on their faces, and said, "Let’s go."
"Huh? Where to?"
Regis curiously asked. Pandora also had a questioning look on her eyes.
However, Killian didn’t explain any further and only smiled, "Just follow me. You’ll know when we arrived there."

About an hour later...
"We’re here."
Killian spoke as he looked at the two of them with a smile.
"Ehhh? Why did you bring us here? Is someone important in that mansion?"
Regis had a confused expression on his face.
Pandora only observed the huge mansion before them. It had about 4 floors and was extremely luxurious.
What was the most eye-catching was the emblem of two swords in an "X" position.
The mansion was so luxurious that it only lost a little to the mansion of Count Orpheus where they went a few days ago.
At this moment, Killian giggled and said, "What are you talking about? This is my house."
"What!?"
Regis’s eyes widened in shock, "Didn’t you tell me that your family already fell?"
"Yes, but what I meant by that is that they all died. Meaning that as the sole member of the Gladius Family, everything in this mansion now belongs to me."
"..."
Regis couldn’t find the words to describe what he was feeling right now.
Even Pandora only had a blank expression behind him.
Both of them were dumbfounded by the sheer wealth that their new "friend" had shown them.
That’s right, Killian was now their "friend".
Killian felt goosebumps as he saw the look in their eyes.
"L-Let’s just go in guys..."
He said as he led the two of them inside the luxurious mansion.
