"Whimper!!"

The piercing, ear-splitting sound akin to metal scraping echoed through the cabin.

Behind him were crew members coming down to help collect loot.

Xia Nan looked at the strange creature kept in the bucket before him, frowning slightly.

Its size was about half the torso of an adult human, resembling an octopus parasitizing a conch shell.

Except its shell, refracting a metallic sheen like a sea snail, didn’t seem like a temporary headpiece found somewhere; it appeared to be part of the creature’s body, intricately textured as if meticulously polished by a professional Blacksmith, with a micro light flowing on the surface as if refracted by light penetrating water.

Below the shell were numerous slender tentacles, stretching outward and curling, colored in the same shade as the shell, a pale blue close to flesh tone.

And a pair of flawless, dark gemstone-like eyes.

No one in the room, including Xia Nan, recognized this bizarre-looking creature.

That was certainly normal.

The ocean environment is a cradle for life, especially now in this Extraordinary World filled with active magic particles, where new species unknown before are born constantly.

Often, simply due to the aftermath of a clash between two strong beings, chaotic magic particles cause immense short-term irreversible impact on the local environment, naturally birthing new life from particle fusion.

Not to mention Xia Nan, who recently transmigrated to this world, even the elderly Elf scholar with the richest knowledge in Suo Yu Bay couldn’t claim to know every sea creature.

Thus, faced with this octopus monster kept in a bucket, after the initial surprise, everyone began to assess its value using their experience as adventurers and sailors.

Firstly, it was a slight oversight.

Because there were no survivors, they couldn’t confirm its origin from the pirates.

It’s unknown whether it was an accidental find during the voyage or specifically targeted on this sail.

But judging from its storage location—a deeply cleaned room evidently prepared for it in the ship’s cabin.

It’s clear the pirates highly valued this octopus.

This already somewhat proves its worth.

Then, from Xia Nan’s adventurer perspective.

He didn’t have information about this Demon before him.

But soon it’ll be two years since he transmigrated into this world, having dealt with countless Demons, accumulating considerable experience.

And with a keen Perception, he could notice details ordinary people missed.

The creature, swinging its tentacles in the bucket, letting out ear-piercing screams, its shell atop its head seemed to intermittently glow due to its fluctuating emotions, disturbing nearby magic particles, making the air inside the cabin slightly more humid.

Suddenly reminding Xia Nan of the Windkind Octopus encountered in the Southern Islands.

Though he was unsure of this octopus’s exact name, according to Xia Nan’s understanding, creatures that disrupt surrounding magic particles, thereby affecting local environments, tend to have considerable value.

The most vivid examples are the Bear and Petrified Lizard.

Both are dangerous Demons with a Challenge Level of "3", and in terms of Combat Ability, the Bear slightly edges out.

But considering material value, the Petrified Lizard completely surpasses the Bear.

The reason, of course, lies in its vertical pupils which can petrify prey, a main ingredient for various Alchemy Potions.

Conversely, the Bear, solely relying on physical combat without special abilities, could only sell skin and bones.

Xia Nan thought the octopus’s metallic shell might be akin to the Windkind Octopus’s pointed horn or the Petrified Lizard’s eyes.

Estimating its market value, it ought to fetch a hefty price.

Behind him, the experienced sailors he employed in Suo Yu Bay came to the same conclusion.

They even believed this octopus monster could be the most valuable loot on the pirate ship.

Venturing out is always for money, naturally not something to miss.

After deliberation, two seasoned sailors teamed up to lift the bucket containing the monster and transported it back to the "Chasing Waves Sea Teeth."

"Whimper!!!!"

Possibly tormented on the pirate ship, the creature didn’t struggle much during transit, only scraped its mucus-covered tentacles against the bucket edges occasionally.

Yet the penetrating shrieks from its mouth persisted almost nonstop.

Even growing more piercing upon reaching the open deck space, seeing the sea surface below.

Causing the sailors responsible for carrying it in close proximity to show pained expressions, their steps hastening.

Standing on the deck, Xia Nan frowned slightly.

The octopus monster’s sharp shrieks faintly reminded him of a human infant’s screams in his previous life’s carriage.

Unconsciously glancing between the two ships at the undulating, dark blue sea surface.

"Mr. Xia Nan, we have cleared out the pirate ship’s items, please come over."

Nearby, a sailor’s call interrupted his thoughts.
