Chapter 683: [Bonus Chapter 8/9] Glup. Glup. Glup.

The four undead warriors were sent flying across the cavern, their massive bodies tumbling through the air before crashing heavily against the ground.

The undead Garron struck the stone first, his body sliding several feet before coming to a halt.

The undead Elite Jackal Beastman followed, its spiked club slipping from its grasp as it rolled across the broken ground.

Nearby, the undead Kharv and the undead Royalty Stonewall suffered the same fate, their heavy bodies smashing against the stone with enough force to raise clouds of dust.

For a brief moment, the entire ledge was filled with falling dust and the sound of shattered stones.

However, what made the scene truly horrifying was not the force that had sent the four undead warriors flying, but the weapons embedded in their bodies.

The rib-spears had pierced straight through their armor breastplates, penetrating the metal and burying themselves deep inside their bodies.

The sharpened bones protruded from their backs, while cracks spread across the punctured armor around the points of impact.

Despite the armor being a bronze grade equipment, the rib-spears had torn through their defenses as though the armor was nothing.

Against any living creature, such an attack would have been a death sentence.

A rib-spear driven that deeply into the chest would have destroyed vital organs and left its victim with little chance of survival.

Yet, even for undead creatures, the damage was frightening.

The six undead servants remained motionless on the ground for a couple of seconds, their soul fire flickering weakly inside their eye sockets.

The flames that usually burned steadily within them now trembled as though an invisible wind threatened to extinguish them.

Their fingers twitched faintly against the stone, but none of them could immediately rise.

The sight caused Thoren’s heart to tighten.

He stared at his fallen undead servants in shock and disbelief, struggling to accept what had just happened before his eyes.

’This...’ His heart skipped a beat.

Thoren’s gaze moved from one fallen undead servant to another, lingering on the rib-spears embedded in their bodies.

Until now, Thoren had rarely encountered an enemy capable of breaching their defenses so effortlessly.

But the Tithe-Bearers had done exactly that.

Their rib-spears had pierced through high-quality armor and struck the bodies beneath it while through them off the ground at the same time.

Thoren’s expression gradually became grave as he turned his head toward the two towering abominations..

He clenched his teeth as his mind raced.

He could not afford to let them fire another volley.

"Attack!" he commanded, directing his attention toward the five undead Thunderhide Rhinos.

The five massive undead beasts immediately lowered their heads, their enormous horns pointing toward the Tithe-Bearers.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The cavern trembled beneath their combined weight. Dust rose around their legs, and the sound of their charging bodies echoed through the vast chamber.

The five undead rhinos charged toward the two abominations like living battering rams, their horns aimed at the Tithe-Bearers’ thick skeletal bodies.

Thoren expected the Tithe-Bearers to release another volley of rib-spears to stop the charging undead Thunderhide Rhinos, but to his surprise, the two creatures did not make any attempt to use the weapons carried on their backs.

Instead, they slowly walked toward the incoming five undead Thunderhide Rhinos.

Thoren’s eyebrows twitched as he watched the scene unfold.

’What are they planning?’

The five undead Thunderhide Rhinos were already charging at full speed.

Their enormous horns pointed forward, and their heavy bodies gathered enough momentum to crush anything unfortunate enough to stand in their path.

Yet, the two Tithe-Bearers continued walking toward them. Before Thoren could figure out their intentions, the distance between both sides rapidly closed.

Bang! Bang!

The two Tithe-Bearers suddenly moved.

Their enormous arms swung forward, and their fists struck two charging undead Thunderhide Rhinos with terrifying force.

The impacts sounded like two massive hammers smashing against solid metal, sending violent shockwaves through the cavern.

The two undead Thunderhide Rhinos were struck so hard that their massive bodies lost contact with the ground.

One was thrown sideways, its legs flailing helplessly as it crashed against the stone, while the other tumbled in the opposite direction, rolling several times before finally coming to a stop.

The entire exchange happened in the blink of an eye.

’Dammit!’

Thoren’s expression darkened as he witnessed their frightening strength.

Even when they sent such a massive undead beast flying with their fist, the Tithe-Bearers did not show any visible effect of the strike.

Unfortunately for the two abominations, the remaining three undead Thunderhide Rhinos did not miss their targets.

Bang! Bang!

Two undead Thunderhide Rhinos slammed into the Tithe-Bearers with devastating force.

The collision shook the cavern, and the sound echoed across the black lake like thunder.

The massive bodies of the rhinos crashed into the abominations’ lower frames, driving them backward despite their tremendous strength.

For the first time since emerging from the lake, the Tithe-Bearers lost their footing. Their enormous bodies were lifted from the ground and sent flying toward the water’s edge.

Crack!

Many bones broke as they crashed heavily onto the stone near the lake.

One Tithe-Bearer landed on its side, its thick arm twisted beneath its body while fragments of its skeletal armor scattered around it.

The other struck the ground on its back, crushing part of the stone beneath its weight.

The two undead Thunderhide Rhinos also suffered from the collision, but they managed to remain still.

Thoren’s eyes narrowed as he watched everything unfold.

’At least the Tithe-Bearers could be injured.’ He thought and a sigh of relief escaped from his lips.

He raised his hand, preparing to issue another command but in that moment, the lake bubbled once again.

Glup. Glup. Glup.

The familiar sound crept through the cavern, interrupting the rumbling echoes of the collision.

Small bubbles appeared across the black surface, then rapidly multiplied as the water began to churn.

The ripples spread outward from the center, growing wider and more violent with every passing second.

Immediately, Thoren’s expression stiffened.

He slowly turned his gaze toward the lake, his heart sinking as the bubbling intensified. He clenched his teeth, a bitter feeling rising in his chest.

’How many more of these things are hiding in there?’
