Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons
Chapter 650 - 20 Kilometers Deep.
Thoren watched the battle unfolding before him with a solemn expression as his undead army clashed with a pack of Pressurefang Wolves.
The dim light of the Soul Lantern of Eternal Crypt illuminated the enormous trench, revealing the movements of every creature involved in the fight.
The wolves moved with frightening speed, their dark bodies darting between the undead as they searched for openings to exploit.
Thoren remained seated on the back of the undead Greater Dune Scorpion, observing the battlefield without showing any sign of nervousness.
His gaze moved from one section of the battle to another, carefully examining the wolves’ movements and the responses of his undead.
After defeating the Thunderhide Rhino, Thoren had encountered four more of the same species while continuing his exploration of the trenches.
Unlike the first encounter, which had allowed him to examine the creature’s abilities, the subsequent battles had been straightforward.
With his undead army working together, the four Thunderhide Rhinos had been taken down with ease.
The five Thunderhide Rhinos had now become part of his undead forces, adding another group of powerful undead to his growing undead army.
It was when he passed the twenty-kilometer mark that he encountered the Pressurefang Wolves.
The weakest among the pack was already Level 43, while their Alpha was an Elite Beast at Level 45.
Against a pack of such deadly beasts, many awakeners would have fled with all their might. Even an experienced party would have needed to consider their chances carefully.
Thoren, however, did not need to think or retreat.
His undead army was more than capable of dealing with them, and he had no reason to abandon his exploration.
The five undead Thunderhide Rhinos charged forward, their enormous bodies shaking the ground as they advanced toward the wolves.
Rather than attacking from the same direction, they spread out and divided the pack into five groups.
The wolves reacted quickly with their impressive speed. However, the moment the battle began, the undead Skybreaker Roc descended from above.
Its enormous wings spread across the illuminated trench as it swept down toward the wolves, its sharp talons reaching for the nearest target.
The wolf sensed the incoming attack and attempted to dodge, but the Roc’s speed was too great.
Its talons struck the wolf’s back.
At the same time, the undead kings attacked from the front.
The undead Horn Lizard King swung its massive cudgel at the wolves, forcing several of them to retreat while the undead Scorpion Men King advanced with heavy, powerful steps.
Its enormous gauntlets struck anything that came within reach.
The battle quickly spread throughout the trench, with the wolves attempting to use their speed to gain an advantage.
But Thoren had not released his entire army yet.
He raised his hand, summoning his undead vanguard into the battlefield.
The undead Storm Tyrant appeared first followed by the undead Royalty Stonewall.
Behind them came the undead Elite Jackal Beastmen, the undead Guild Captain, the undead Garron, three undead Scorpion Commanders, the undead Kharv, and the undead Scorpion General.
With their arrival, the battlefield became even more crowded.
For a moment, the trench became a battlefield between two groups of deadly creatures. The undead army and the Pressurefang Wolves fought fiercely beneath the light of the Soul Lantern.
The Pressurefang Wolves were notorious for their innate ability to move through darkness without making a sound.
Their bodies blended naturally into the shadows, allowing them to approach their prey without being detected.
This ability had made them some of the most dangerous assassins in the trenches, especially against awakeners who relied on ordinary vision and limited perception.
Unfortunately for them, Thoren’s Soul Lantern of Eternal Crypt had already removed their greatest advantage.
Thoren watched as one of the undead Thunderhide Rhinos lowered its head and charged toward a wolf attempting to circle behind the undead formation.
The enormous beast struck the wolf with its head, knocking it backward and sending its body tumbling across the rocky ground. ℯℯ𝑙.
Before the wolf could recover, the undead Garron approached with his massive butcher knife raised in both hands.
The blade came down heavily, cutting into the wolf’s chest.
Blood splattered across the ground as the creature cried out in pain, its body twisting as it attempted to escape the attack.
Unfortunately, the undead Thunderhide Rhino was already moving again.
It lowered its head and charged forward, driving its thick horn straight into the wounded wolf. The impact pierced the wolf’s body, and the wolf went still.
The undead Garron pulled his butcher knife free and immediately turned toward another wolf.
Elsewhere, the battle became increasingly fierce.
The Pressurefang Wolves realized that their advantage had been greatly reduced, but they did not retreat. Instead, the creatures became more aggressive, throwing themselves against the undead with frightening determination.
Their powerful jaws snapped around limbs, their claws tore through exposed armor and damaged bodies.
Some of the undead staggered backward, their soul fire flickering erratically as if it was going to go out but it did not. Recovered, the undead joined the battle once again, each raising their weapon.
One wolf leaped onto the back of an undead Scorpion Commander, biting deeply into its shoulder while another rushed toward its legs.
The undead attempted to shake off the attacker, but the wolf clung stubbornly to its body, tearing its undead flesh.
In another location, another Pressurefang Wolf lunged at an undead Elite Jackal Beastman, knocking it to the ground before attempting to bite into its neck. The undead struggled beneath the wolf’s weight, its arms pushing against the creature as it tried to throw it off.
The wolves’ loud howls filled the trench, echoing from the rocky walls and mixing with the heavy impacts of the battle.
Their cries were fierce and aggressive.
Despite the ferocity of the undead army, the Pressurefang Wolves were not weak opponents. Their high levels gave them considerable strength, and their speed allowed them to exploit small openings.
Many undead suffered damage as the wolves tore through their bodies, but the undead continued fighting without fear or hesitation.
They did not feel pain, nor did they hesitate when faced with an enemy
Thoren watched the exchange carefully, his expression unchanged.
He had expected the Pressurefang Wolves to be dangerous, and their performance had confirmed his assessment.
Nevertheless, their strength was not enough to turn the battle in their favor.
Bang!
A terrifying punch struck the head of a Pressurefang Wolf that had managed to sneak up behind one of the undead.
The attack came from the undead Scorpion Men King, whose enormous gauntlet slammed into the wolf with tremendous force.
The wolf was knocked sideways, its paws scraping against the rocky ground as it struggled to regain its balance.
The wolf let out a low, pained whimper before baring its fangs. Its eyes fixed on the undead Scorpion Men King, and its body lowered as it prepared to pounce again.
It had barely gathered its strength when a deadly blade struck from the opposite direction.
Howl!
The undead Royalty Stonewall swung its weapon across the wolf’s neck, cutting deeply into the flesh and nearly severing its head.
The wolf’s attack stopped immediately, and its body staggered beneath the combined force of the two undead.
Before it could collapse completely, the undead Scorpion Men King stepped forward and delivered another devastating punch.
Boom!
