Chapter 594: [Bonus Chapter] Cressida...the Battle with the Undead.
Facing hundreds of deadly roots attacking him from every direction, Thoren did not dare become complacent as he quickly summoned his undead vanguards.
The undead Royalty Stonewall, the undead Guild Captain, the undead Elite Jackal Beastmen, the undead Kharv, and the undead Horn Lizard King.
The moment the five powerful undead appeared inside the chamber, the atmosphere changed violently.
A terrifying wave of undead energy erupted from their bodies, spreading through the enormous chamber like an invisible storm and colliding directly with the intimidating aura radiating from the massive tree that was Cressida’s body.
The ground beneath their feet trembled slightly as the two opposing energies clashed against each other.
For the first time since Thoren entered the chamber, Cressida’s expression changed slightly.
Her eyes widened as she had clearly not expected Thoren to possess so many powerful undead.
The sudden appearance of five more powerful undead had completely changed the situation, especially because each of them possessed an aura that could not be compared with ordinary awakeners.
Even Cressida, who had remained completely confident since the beginning, could feel the dangerous energy radiating from their bodies.
Her gaze moved slowly across the undead before returning to Thoren.
"So you have more than I expected..." she murmured.
There was a hint of surprise in her voice, but it disappeared almost immediately and a strange smile slowly returned to her face.
"It doesn’t matter."
The enormous roots surrounding the chamber suddenly twisted violently.
More roots emerged from the walls, ceiling, and floor, increasing the already terrifying number until the entire chamber seemed to have been transformed into a forest of living serpents.
"Let’s see how long they can protect you."
Whoosh!
Instantly, the hundreds of roots shot forward at the same time.
They moved so quickly that the air itself exploded around them, creating a terrifying sound tearing through the space toward Thoren and his undead.
However, Thoren remained completely calm. With four undead shield soldiers standing around him, he had nothing to fear as he focused his attention entirely on commanding his undead.
"Kill." His voice was calm.
Instantly, all his undead vanguard moved at once.
Bang! Bang!
The first collision shook the entire chamber to its core.
The Undead Royalty Stonewall raised its blade and swung it directly against an incoming root. It cut through the root like a hot knife cutting through butter.
The undead did not retreat. It planted both feet firmly into the ground and violently swung its weapon sideways.
Slash!
Several roots were cut apart simultaneously, their severed ends spraying strange red liquid across the stone floor.
But immediately, more roots immediately rushed toward it only for them to welcome the deadly strike of the undead Royalty Stonewall.
Its blade struck another root with such terrifying sharpness, leaving pieces of flesh scattered across the ground.
At the same time, the undead Guild Captain charged forward.
Its massive broadsword moved through the air with frightening precision as it cut through one root after another, each attack targeting the thickest part of the tissue and severing it cleanly.
Unlike an ordinary human or awakener that might waste movements while facing such a large number of enemies, the undead Guild Captain movement was filled with nothing but the art of killing..
Every movement was for a strike.
Every attack removed another root.
Slash! Slash! Slash!
Three roots rushed toward its chest from different directions, but the undead Guild Captain twisted its body and swung its massive broadsword horizontally, cutting through all three before they could reach it.
Another root descended from above at breathtaking speed, impossible for normal eyes to follow. But against Thoren’s perception, the speed was nothing.
The descending root collided with the blade, but the tremendous force behind the undead Guild Captain’s arms forced it backward.
Before the root could launch another attack, the root was split apart from the center before falling heavily onto the ground.
The undead Elite Jackal Beastmen was even more frightening. Its spike club moved so quickly, tearing through the root apart in a bloody display.
Flesh and dark liquid splattered into the air. It never stops moving and it never stops swinging its club, roots or not.
It tore through everything in savage display.
Rip!
Blood-like liquid splashed across the floor. Before the severed root could retract, the undead was already moving toward another target.
As for theUndead Kharv, it was different.
The former Scorpion Commander stood his ground and relied on his massive axe.
His enormous weapon swung repeatedly through the air, each strike carrying enough strength to split the thick roots apart.
Bang!
The axe slammed into a root and instantly, the tissue bent violently before being severed.
Bang!
Another root was cut apart.
Bang!
A third root was crushed and sliced simultaneously.
The sound of metal striking flesh echoed continuously through the chamber, mixing with the furious movement of hundreds of roots.
The battle quickly became chaotic with roots covering the ground. Roots could be seen moving and weaving at impossible speed.
Yet the undead vanguard continued advancing, tearing every root on their part asunder. They were not simply defending themselves.
They were moving toward Cressida.
Thoren watched everything carefully through his mental connection with his undead, constantly adjusting their movements whenever he noticed a dangerous attack approaching from a blind spot.
Thoren’s commands came continuously, allowing the undead to fight as though they possessed another set of eyes capable of seeing every corner of the battlefield.
However, among all the undead, one figure was in another league.
The undead Horn Lizard King. Unlike the other undead, it did not bother avoiding the roots.
It simply walked forward.
Large strides carried its enormous body toward Cressida as countless roots rushed toward it from every direction.
The undead Horn Lizard King raised its massive cudgel and smashed it apart.
The root was crushed before the weapon continued moving and smashed into another root behind it.
Bang!
Two roots broke apart simultaneously but the undead Horn Lizard King continued walking.
Its massive feet landed heavily against the stone floor with every step, and each movement caused the ground to tremble slightly.
Knowing that among all the undead, it poses the major threat. And thus, more roots gathered around it, trying to trap it at the center.
Unfortunately...
