Chapter 562: [Bonus Chapter] I will be Damned If I Allow it.

After the brief phone call with the member of the Knight Order, Thoren did not hesitate any longer.

He immediately departed from the Starfall estate with a group of elite soldiers following behind him in their convoy.

Military vehicles moved together through the streets, their engines roaring as they quickly left the estate

Thoren sat inside one of the military vehicles, his eyes looking through the window as the convoy raced forward.

The Brightspire Quarters was the most peaceful place in Suncrest City.

It was where the wealthiest families lived, and the entire district reflected the status of its residents.

The roads were wide and clean, the buildings were carefully maintained, and beautiful gardens could be seen behind the walls of the various estates.

But today, that peaceful atmosphere was nowhere to be seen.

Tension hung over the entire district.

Thoren could see guards stationed outside almost every major estate, while armed hunters stood along the roads and beside the entrances of family residences.

Some families had deployed patrols around their properties, while others had brought out powerful weapons that were usually kept hidden from public view.

The wealthy families were no longer trying to conceal their strength.

The danger facing Suncrest City had reached a point where hiding their power had become meaningless.

If the city fell, their wealth would not protect them.

If the strange creatures spreading throughout the city reached their estates, their beautiful walls would not stop them.

And if the beast tide broke through the city’s defenses, even the most powerful families would have to fight for their survival.

The Brightspire Quarters still looked beautiful, but the beauty had been overshadowed by the atmosphere of impending danger.

Thoren watched silently through the window.

He could feel the fear.

Even though most people in this district were powerful enough to protect themselves from ordinary threats, nobody knew what they were dealing with anymore.

That uncertainty was what frightened them the most.

The convoy continued forward.

The clean roads of the Brightspire Quarters gradually disappeared behind them as the vehicles passed through the district’s massive entrance and entered Glimmer Street.

The moment the convoy entered the street, Thoren suddenly felt something pulse inside his mind.

His eyes narrowed.

It was subtle. So subtle that nobody else would have noticed it.

But Thoren immediately recognized the sensation.

He had felt it before and without hesitation, he reached into his inventory and brought out the Vorlath Blood Compass.

The ancient compass appeared in his palm.

Its strange surface was covered in dried blood-colored patterns, and at its center was the eerily blood-red eye.

The eye was wide open and it was staring toward a certain direction. Hatred and anger seemed to burn within that blood-colored eye.

Instantly, Thoren’s expression changed as he immediately understood that the compass had detected something.

His eyes followed the direction in which the eye was staring.

West.

The compass did not move.

It simply remained fixed in that direction, its blood-red eye glaring toward something beyond the buildings and streets.

Thoren’s breathing became slightly heavier.

Through the connection between himself and the compass, information began flowing into his mind.

It was not a voice but more like an instinctive understanding.

It found them.

The Crimson Womb’s children.

At once, Thoren’s expression became grim as he knew his suspicion had been correct. The strange incidents happening throughout Suncrest City were not a coincidence.

The disappearances.

The black entities.

The beast tide.

The strange group that had emerged from the Abyss. Everything was connected like a wide spider web.

’This is not good.’ His fingers tightened around the compass.

’Not good.’

A subtle but powerful aura suddenly emanated from his body subconsciously.

The realization had simply caused his emotions to fluctuate for a brief moment, and the power within him responded.

The atmosphere inside the vehicle instantly became oppressive. The soldiers sitting two seats in front of him froze.

Their eyes widened and their hearts skipped a beat. Their muscles stiffened as the invisible pressure descended upon them.

One of the soldiers instinctively swallowed hard as he could not understand what was happening.

The person sitting beside him had not even moved. Yet for that brief moment, it felt as though something terrifying had appeared inside the vehicle.

Cold sweat slowly formed across his forehead.

Instantly, Thoren noticed their reaction and he immediately suppressed the aura. And at once, the suffocating pressure vanished as quickly as it had appeared.

"Go West!" He commanded.

The driver immediately responded. "Yes, Young Master!"

The convoy changed direction.

The vehicles accelerated down Glimmer Street, rapidly moving toward the western side of Suncrest City.

Thoren lowered his gaze toward the Vorlath Blood Compass once again while the blood-red eye remained fixed in the same direction.

Thoren’s expression remained calm, but his mind was already moving rapidly.

The Knight Order had told him that something was happening throughout the city. Something that might be the end of the Suncrest city as they know it.

The Knight might not understand the horror of the Crimson Womb but he knew better. If the Governor or anyone on the surface truly understood the horror of what had surfaced.

None would remain seated inside their home and office while thinking they were unstoppable. Even with a world countless more powerful than earth, the Crimson Womb destroys it, turning it into nothing but bleeding desert.

What more about earth which had nothing. Weak and fragile like an egg, this was nothing but serving the earth on a platter of gold to the Crimson Womb.

Taking a deep breath, Thoren looked through the window. The buildings outside continued passing rapidly as the convoy raced westward.

He had just returned home.

He had barely spent enough time with his family to feel the warmth of being together again.

Yet, he found himself moving toward danger. This time, however, he could not simply ignore it.

His parents were in this city.

This was his home.

And he would be damned, if he allowed some crazy group to turn his home into a graveyard.
