Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 917: Research Base
- Research Base
"...D-Class personnel... the organization... I'm not Wang Ke... I'm a researcher for the organization... my name is..."
Wang Ke clutched his head, staring blankly at the floor.
The other two woke up as well, and one of the young men quickly grasped the situation.
"I'm Zhao Jie, a researcher for the organization."
Zhao Jie didn't dwell on the hazy memories in his mind; he knew exactly what needed to be done.
"Take this, and tell me what happened here. Best if you can tell me how to get out."
Lin Ye tossed a pistol to Zhao Jie.
"This used to be the organization's research base. I don't know exactly what happened either, probably some kind of research accident. I'm only a low-level researcher, I don't have access to those high-clearance research projects."
Zhao Jie had no memories related to the accident; that stretch of memory was extremely blurry.
"Can you snap them out of it? I still need to go rescue others."
If these people kept sitting on the floor contemplating their existence, Lin Ye would have to leave them behind.
"Leave it to me."
Zhao Jie grabbed Wang Ke by the collar, yanked him up, and slapped him across the face.
"We're in the middle of an abnormal incident. You can lie here and wait to die, or you can leave with us."
Zhao Jie released Wang Ke and slapped the person next to him as well.
"Alright, from here on out it's their own problem."
When going through this kind of abnormal incident, everyone had to take responsibility for their own life.
"Then keep up."
Lin Ye left the laboratory and continued toward the next death site. He hoped to find a Staff Member with some understanding of this place.
The corridor of flesh and blood was abnormally complex in structure, but in Lin Ye's eyes, those intricate fleshy structures followed an obvious pattern. If there were spiritual energy in the environment, this place would become his home turf.
Two squads of Fleshy Monsters appeared simultaneously on both sides of the corridor. Lin Ye emptied his magazine at the squad ahead of him and relied on the teammates behind him to block the bullets coming from the rear.
With his light perception, he only needed to overlap with his teammates to completely ignore the bullets from behind.
Zhao Jie hid behind a fallen ally's corpse, returning fire. His marksmanship was decent, and he took down two Fleshy Monsters.
Lin Ye reloaded and turned back to blow the heads off the Fleshy Monsters behind them.
After dealing with the Fleshy Monsters, Lin Ye took the weapons from the corpses and continued moving toward the next death site.
"Wait, do you even know which way to go? Or are you just wandering randomly?"
This place was completely different from the research base in Zhao Jie's memory. He had no idea where Lin Ye was heading.
"Those dead students have traces left from experiments on their bodies. I can deduce the rough layout of this place."
Lin Ye observed the rooms on both sides of the corridor as he walked, dealing with any Fleshy Monsters he encountered along the way.
"...Are you really a D-Class personnel?"
Zhao Jie let out a gasp of amazement. He could even feel that Lin Ye's head was glowing.
"An ordinary person could never become D-Class personnel."
Before long, Lin Ye found the third laboratory, which contained four human-sized containers.
Lin Ye and Zhao Jie each opened two containers, releasing the humans inside.
"Cough cough... what is this..."
"What is this place? Wasn't I sleeping?"
"...Who am I?"
Only three of them woke up. The other had completely lost consciousness.
Zhao Jie handled the survivors while Lin Ye, hearing the commotion, stood at the doorway dealing with the approaching squad of Fleshy Monsters.
These three survivors seemed to be security personnel, and they were noticeably calmer than the two researchers from before.
Lin Ye led the survivors in taking weapons from the Fleshy Monster corpses, so that he only needed to handle the Fleshy Monsters ahead.
Just like that, Lin Ye continuously rescued new survivors from the containers. Their numbers kept growing, and they occupied what was probably an armory.
"I remember now. I was running a comparative experiment when my assistant suddenly exploded. I was blown into the wall and lost consciousness after that."
"Strange, wasn't there an alarm? I think I was still asleep, never got woken up."
"There really was no alarm. I was on patrol in the first experimental zone that night. I noticed nothing abnormal at all, then I suddenly passed out."
"Does anyone know what dangerous research projects are here?"
"I doubt anyone does. With a sudden abnormal incident like this, the relevant personnel have probably already been killed by the anomalous phenomena."
"The base director should know the specifics, right?"
"Where are we supposed to find the base director? Things happened so suddenly, even the base director might not have survived."
...
Lin Ye stuffed himself with all kinds of weapons. These people had barely provided him with a single piece of useful intelligence, and everything they said was meaningless drivel.
"A-Ming, you're going out?"
Zhao Jie noticed Lin Ye's movements and hurried over.
"I'm going to take a look outside the base. There are plenty of weapons here. You all decide what to do next."
Lin Ye had no intention of commanding these people to explore the base. After all, he was just a D-Class personnel.
"Wait, I can roughly guess the locations of some core projects. But the base structure has become extremely strange now. I want to come with you to map out the terrain."
Su Yue was a female low-level researcher. She had quickly accepted their current situation and was thinking about how to escape.
"Can you draw the original layout of the base? And those core project locations you guessed."
As time passed, Lin Ye's head emitted a faint silver-white glow, and his consciousness began to grow unstable.
"...Alright, but I can't be certain about the core project locations either."
Su Yue gave him a warning.
"That's fine, but you'd better hurry. I don't have much time left."
Lin Ye looked up and smiled. A hideous scar ran across his face, extending all the way below his collar.
It looked as though something had peeled back his skin and burrowed inside his body.
Su Yue didn't answer. Instead, she began drawing the base structure she knew on the ground made of flesh and blood.
Some survivors exchanged glances and silently picked up nearby weapons.
Lin Ye paid no attention to those restless survivors. If Su Yue could draw the original map of the research base, he could compare it and find the locations of those core research projects.
Perhaps some Information would remain there.
"Everyone calm down. A-Ming saved us. He means no harm."
Zhao Jie didn't want to fight Lin Ye. Given Lin Ye's marksmanship, even if they could win the fight, very few of them would survive in the end.
"How does a D-Class personnel have such good marksmanship? And that scar is way too strange!"
One of the survivors shouted loudly.
