  1. Deity Power

"You are... Lin Ye?"

Ayla looked at Lin Ye in a daze, not quite having grasped the current situation.

"Why do you always end up in weird places like this?"

Lin Ye didn't rush to leave. As the ritual progressed, the temple was in an extremely unstable state. Running around carelessly could trigger a rather troublesome situation.

"I didn't run around this time. On my way home, I ran into a man who looked dangerous... It's him!"

Ayla suddenly spotted the man standing nearby.

"I merely invited this young lady over for a visit. I mean no harm."

The man struggled to affect Ayla's restoration speed. This was a contest of flesh rules. Lin Ye's mastery of the flesh rule was even more practiced than it had imagined.

"Is that so?"

Lin Ye sensed the changes in the temple, still not fully understanding why the man wanted him to stay here.

"I just want to run a simple experiment. Don't worry, it will be over soon."

The man saw through Lin Ye's thoughts. This time, it didn't intend to fight Lin Ye, only to gain some information.

"You want my divine seat? But even if I fuse with the deity here, you shouldn't be able to obtain my divine seat."

Lin Ye could read the changes here well enough. He simply didn't understand the man's goal.

"At first, I did have some ideas about the divine seat. But as I gradually drew closer to that position, those ideas vanished completely. That is not something I can touch."

The man looked at Lin Ye with a very complicated gaze.

"Then why did you design this plan? To observe my process of becoming a deity?"

Lin Ye sensed within the temple a certain power belonging to a deity, and that power had no master. If he wished, he could fully absorb that power and directly become a deity.

After all, he already possessed a divine seat and had a deep understanding of rule power.

But if he truly did that, he would become the weakest deity, perhaps even a bit less than that, nothing more than a human capable of wielding deity power.

"I hope you will absorb the deity's power. This is actually an opportunity for you. You should have sensed it too, right? If you become a true deity, what will happen."

The man suddenly shut its mouth, lowering its head, not daring to continue meeting Lin Ye's gaze.

"So what? Even if becoming a deity carries certain risks, I will not choose to become this kind of half-finished product."

Lin Ye didn't care at all about the man's words. The man was clearly in a state of half-understanding and still wanted to use such rhetoric to confuse him.

If the other party truly understood the process of becoming a deity completely, it wouldn't have needed to design such a troublesome trap.

Lin Ye would not be influenced by such uncertain information.

"...I am no match for you, but you have no room to choose now. The ritual has already begun. You are the only candidate in this temple. Deity power will spontaneously advance the ritual. You are strong, but you cannot stop a deity's will.

Even if it is merely a fictional deity."

This temple was not the man's possession, but it was very clear about the temple's danger.

To be precise, this was not a temple at all, but a peculiar landform composed of cubes.

The locals worshipped this place as a temple, and thus deity power appeared here.

Those cultists were inherently beings composed of cubes. From the moment of their birth, they had worshipped a nonexistent deity.

"Which of you wants to accept the deity power? If no one does, I'll let the Starfish Ornament take it."

Lin Ye looked toward Ayla and Grelis. He didn't understand what the man was hoping for. He truly could not contend against deity power, but merely channeling the ritual onto another person was not difficult for him.

"I don't want it. I don't want to become a Cube-Man."

Grelis rejected Lin Ye's proposal without hesitation. She only wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.

"I don't want it either. I'm only high-tier. Accepting deity power is too dangerous."

Ayla likewise didn't want to accept this inexplicable deity power.

"Wait! My lord, I voluntarily accept the deity power! As long as you give me the deity power, I will do anything you want!"

The old man said excitedly to Lin Ye.

They had entered the temple precisely to obtain the deity power here, yet unexpectedly Lin Ye and the others all disdained this power.

"You can still speak? That's not good."

Lin Ye removed the old man's mouth.

"You grew too fast. I didn't expect you to have some understanding of deity power as well. But deity power is not as easy to handle as you think. You should still think about how to withstand the deity power."

The man did not believe Lin Ye could transfer the deity power onto someone else.

"Is that so?"

Lin Ye had already prepared to channel the deity power.

The Starfish Ornament rushed into the Cube Space. Inside the space, the old man and the middle-aged man grabbed the limbs on both sides of the Starfish Ornament. A massive amount of deity power passed through their bodies and merged into the interior of the Starfish Ornament.

"...How did you do that?"

The man did nothing more. If it affected the ritual, the deity power might transfer onto it.

That would not be a good thing.

"You probably never paid attention to that cultist. It understood this place better than you. The statues and corpses it arranged were the main body of the deity revival ritual. I disposed of the most critical headless statue, so of course the remaining ritual elements are under my control.

Besides, these two idiots had their own ideas, and their bodies were also important.

All the elements of this ritual are in my hands. Of course I can let anyone obtain the deity power.

You fear deity power too much, which is why you kept your distance from those ritual participants."

If he hadn't been afraid the man would use deity power to casually kill him, he would have wanted to pass some of the deity power onto the man.

"...So that's how it is. What a pity. I wanted to see the process of a deity's birth."

The man looked regretfully at the Starfish Ornament absorbing deity power inside. It had originally wanted to leave Lin Ye a way to survive, so that perhaps Lin Ye could still be useful in the future.

Now there was no way. It was only a clone and could not do many things.

This too was part of the plan.

"If you had stayed hidden in the deepest part of the Red Sea, perhaps you could have seen my advancement process before you died."

Lin Ye observed the changes in the Starfish Ornament. All the deity power inside the temple was converging toward the Cube Space.

Just then, Lin Ye suddenly sensed something extremely ominous.

"You probably won't get the chance. This was originally a trap prepared for you after you accepted the deity power. After all, I didn't want to face an intact deity. Now that you haven't accepted the deity power, you might not be able to go back."

The man truly did not want Lin Ye to die so quickly.
