Chapter 116 - 115: Killing Two Birds with One Stone
Chapter 116: Chapter 115: Killing Two Birds with One Stone
The victorious side had already gained the complete upper hand.
On the losing side, only a single bionic was barely holding on.
A sharp glint flashed in Bena’s eyes.
"Now! Make your move!"
At Bena’s command, the group moved swiftly.
Lanton and Bena took the lead, charging toward the battlefield.
Zhou Mei and Number 4 flanked from the left.
Number 2 and Number 3 flanked from the right.
Zhou Mei and Number 2 were extremely fast. In just a moment, they had circled around to the sides of the battlefield.
Bena and Lanton followed close behind, quickly reaching the edge of the battlefield.
The victorious side, who had been cheerfully cleaning up the battlefield, noticed Bena’s group appearing.
The smiles on their faces vanished instantly. They raised the weapons they had just lowered.
They clustered together cautiously, staring in alarm at the six people from Bena’s group who had surrounded them.
As the team’s captain, Jones knew the situation was extremely unfavorable.
They had just endured a long battle. His team members were at the limits of their physical and mental stamina.
Although they had won, they no longer had the strength to face a new enemy.
It was obvious at a glance that the enemy was well-rested and waiting for an exhausted opponent, their strength and spirit at their peak.
Moreover, judging by their movements and equipment, Bena’s group was clearly a well-trained team.
The difference in strength between the two sides was obvious.
Jones quickly weighed his options. ’Continuing to fight would do us no good,’ he thought.
’Fighting is a dead end.’
’Our best choice now is to retreat, avoid a direct confrontation, and look for a chance to counter-attack later.’
"Everyone, don’t panic! We’ll retreat for now and avoid them," Jones shouted in a low voice, trying to steady his team.
However, the words had barely left his mouth when Bena’s group charged.
Lanton and Bena charged toward the center of the battlefield, one from the left and one from the right.
Zhou Mei and Number 4 flanked from the left, while Number 2 and Number 3 flanked from the right.
They were incredibly fast, reaching the edge of the battlefield in an instant.
Jones’s heart sank. He knew it was too late to retreat.
"Everyone, with me! Block them!" Jones roared, raising his weapon and leading the charge toward Bena’s group.
The others followed close behind, preparing for a fight to the death.
However, the gap in strength between them was simply too great.
Not only were Bena’s team members at their peak physically and mentally, but they were also well-equipped and highly trained.
The moment they clashed, Jones’s team was completely overwhelmed.
Bena and Lanton were both holding laser guns. Before the two sides even made contact, they unleashed a furious barrage of fire.
The bionics on Jones’s team, already injured from the last battle, fell in an instant.
Five seconds passed in a flash, and the laser guns overheated.
Putting away his laser gun, Bena drew an iron shield and a one-handed shortblade.
[Armor-Piercing Mark Shortblade (Blue)]
[Attack: 40-45]
[Attack Speed: Fast]
[Attack Range: Melee]
[Required Stats: 5 Agility, 7 Strength, 6 Stamina]
[Armor Piercing: Ignores 20% of armor.]
"Lanton, stay on me."
Lanton also drew his iron shield and a shortsword, quickening his pace to follow.
"Yes, sir!"
Jones never intended to fight them head-on in the first place. Seeing two of his men die before they’d even clashed made him even more frantic.
He could see the enemy was even wearing exoskeletons. Honestly, if the situation weren’t so dire, he would have started cursing them out loud.
’They have exoskeletons, top-tier gear, and the advantage in numbers.’
’And they still hid on the sidelines like vultures, waiting for us to finish our fight just to swoop in and pick off the survivors. This is just absurd.’
Jones was grinding his teeth in hatred, but since he was outmatched, he could only be angry without daring to voice it.
Staring at the six people who had completely surrounded him, Jones began to wonder whether he should surrender or fight to the death.
He knew very well that neither option was likely to end well.
’Surrendering means giving up all resistance. If I’m lucky, they might absorb me into their group.’
’But if I’m unlucky, without any ability to fight back, I’ll just be a lamb to the slaughter.’
’Fighting to the death might allow me to carve out a bloody escape, but the chances are minuscule. The difference in strength between us is obvious; they’re clearly a well-trained team. Their gear and combat experience far surpass ours. In a situation like this, the possibility of fighting our way out is incredibly slim.’
Jones quickly weighed the pros and cons, but before he could make a final decision...
...Bena and Lanton were already upon him. Jones gritted his teeth, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.
"Brothers, with me! Let’s give them everything we’ve got!"
He roared, raised his weapon, and charged at Bena.
The others followed close behind, ready to fight to the death.
A trace of disdain flickered in Bena’s eyes. He sneered and swung his shortblade to meet the attack.
"Courting death!"
Bena and Lanton charged at Jones’s group from the left and right.
The two sides quickly fell into a chaotic melee.
Although Jones was fairly strong, he was no match for Bena.
Bena had extensive combat experience, his stats were superior to Jones’s across the board, and he was wearing a Sentinel-class exoskeleton.
Their combat power wasn’t even on the same level. In the first exchange, Bena’s blade sliced into Jones’s shoulder.
The sharp shortblade shattered Jones’s clavicle and cut deep into the bone.
Jones let out a blood-curdling scream as his weapon clattered to the ground.
A cold light glinted in Bena’s eyes. Without a moment’s hesitation, he followed up with a backhanded slash. The blade struck Jones’s neck, severing his windpipe and carotid artery.
Jones’s scream cut off abruptly, his eyes filled with unwillingness and terror.
Even at the moment of his death, he never imagined he would die here.
Bena pulled his shortblade free and kicked Jones’s corpse away.
He glanced coldly at the few remaining men and said flatly:
"Surrender, or die!"
The two remaining men looked at each other, their eyes filled with fear and despair.
The battle had lasted for less than a minute, over in a single clash.
Faced with such a powerful enemy, they had no chance of victory.
In the end, they chose to surrender.
Bena glanced at them and said coldly, "You know what’s good for you."
With a wave of his hand, he signaled for Zhou Mei and the others to restrain the survivors.
"Tie them all up and take them back."
"Yes, sir!"
Zhou Mei and the others immediately moved forward and tied up all the remaining men.
